ok i have one thing about this video i dont like, the song, i hate it when people play songs during their video, its like if i wanted to hear the song i would be on youtube looking it up. other than that it was an alright video..
Thank you for your sharp shooting photography Nadia. You captured those Caprioles wonderfully, those horses look like they are flying. It's my favourite move too!
As for cruelty - these horses are surely disciplined, and just like any ballet dancer they suffer abnormal wear and tear. However a dressage horse has a much longer and better life than most. Plus - they know how clever they are and enjoy being stars.
FYI, a 'buck' is when a horse puts its head down and throws its hindquarters up, You can see this at rodeos. When executing a capriole, the horse leaps into the air and kicks out behind with both hind legs simultainiously.
Your pictures were great, especially how you caught the airs above the ground. The horses are coming to my city next month and we're all very excited.
i saw them in canada. lol (for FREE) well i was nvr going to pay to c something i can c my parents do lol. but they stayed my parents farm in canada, i got to pet them lol. and then set up for the show and take down. it was kool
there probly is. they just don't wanna say it. i think this is like the circus but no one knows fosho, so we can jugde it. but it truly is an amazing show.
I had the unbelieveable experience of a lifetime to get to meet the Herrmann family and these great stallions when I was younger. Sabrina Herrmann and I became great friends and I spent a great deal of time with her, the family and the horses. I will tell you right now that those horses have nothing but the best of care and training. I was allowed to ride one of the younger horses and these moves are so bred into these horses that they don't train them, they are natural.
yes there are whips and spurs involved, however no rider is allowed to use either until they can be trusted to not touch the horse with them on accident, and even when we DO use them its only a light tap or poke to say to the horse "hey listen up" the only time a horse is hit hard with one is if they do something dangerous that could potentially injure or kill another horse or human.
@chazney991 how we train them is by asking for small baby steps and eventually working our way up to the harder stuff. you ask a horse for one or two steps of say, half-pass and when they get it right for one or two steps you praise them to the skies, thats how they learn what you want. I ride one horse that tries to "help" me put his tack on because he loves to show off what he can do, like passageing when i ask for collected trot, just because he loves to work.
@chazney991 there are whips involved used as a light tapping as you would tap someone on the shoulder to get their attention. the riders are not allowed to ride off the lunge for the first three years they are there. and it takes from 2 to about 15 for the stallions to mature and be experienced enough to do the big moves such as the "airs above the ground". I can't think of a place where horses are better cared for.
wow, you are so lucky to have seen them. I saw them once when I was little. I would LOVE to take my kids to a show, and have them experience the amazing feats these horses can do under the talent of their riders. Fantastic Video 5/5
