  • Way to go NJKatwoman!

My Dad was a Sgt in the 93rd Armored Field Artillery Battalion which campaigned in Europe and North Africa. He was a Half-Track driver. I am very proud of what he and his unit achieved over there, as I am of all members of our military service, past and present!

    Nice Tribute.

  • Wow, that's awesome, Fania54! I would love to know all the places my Dad was...I know of Iceland, Germany, France....How can I find out all of the details? Would you know where I could begin to find out? Thank you so much for sharing that about your Dad... :)

  • OK NJKat, well I am fortunate, the commanding officer of the 93rd chronicled unit's action in two books he wrote along the way, one hard, one soft cover, both of which my Dad brought home.

However, if you can tell me what unit/division your Dad was in, I'll be more than happy to see what I can find out for you. I know how much information like that can mean to the families of soldiers.

  • Thanks, Christy! Love you, Cuz.

  • Thank YOU, Cousin Christos! (You are my Dad's Godson) Agapi1948's Father was my Dad's brother, Ernie. The two handsome men in uniform standing on either side of my Dad, was Ernie Spiliotis, and George Spiliotis. They all served their country during Wartime...and thankfully, came home with all their parts still intact. I am so proud of our family, Cousin Christos!

  • How can I forget :o)tm *****

  • Thank you, Sir! I appreciate you, and your comment! :) God Bless America!

  • What a sweet tribute to your Dad & other Veterans, bless you! My Dad was in the military, he became deathly ill & eventually was honorably discharged w/ out having been in battle yet. He passt away many yrs ago, unrelated illness. My "Pops" (StepDad) did serve in Vietnam, he would have to tell the story.. Suffice to say it was as hellish a nightmare as so many claimed.. Ty for the share "Bobdahorse". Ty to all our Veterans ♥

  • Thank you for such nice comment! And thanks BobDaHorse for sharing this video! :) I'm sorry that your Dad is no longer with you, and maybe "Pops" can gather up his pictures and memories, and you can make a nice tribute. I'll help ya! :)

  • Thank you so much, raespencer! I'm LMAO at your comment about your soldier bellowing at the referee! I was married to a guy that did the same thing! Everyone a block away could hear him, but the Giants referee was oblivious! LMAO! Thank God your soldier is home by your side. Let's keep all the others in our prayers. :)

  • Very compelling tribute.....key-rist... nevermind 'pass the ammunition, pass the kleenex!

(Was in Austin recently, Donn's Depot to be precise, and noticed this v. handsome young man with half a leg missing. Coulda been a farm accident, but likely an Iraq accident. Sacrifices continue to be made)

  • Hi Anna1775, thank you for sharing that story about the young man...Yes, I agree, sacrifices continue to be made...and the only "good" war will be when there's NO war.

May God Bless them all! :)

  • I second the motion! BTW, are you of Greek extraction? Poli oraio an eisai!

  • Giasou, Anna1755!!! Yes, Dad was Greek...Grandparents from Greece. Mother was a blend of Irish, English, Indian (Sioux).

I do not speak Greek, but my friend, Angela, (WorldCitizen08 on YouTube) speaks fluently. I think 18WheelsofFaith (YouTuber) also speaks fluently. But Greek is in my heart and soul....Efkharistó, Anna1755! :)

  • Afto einai awesome, lol! That's some blend of roots you have! Which makes for ekaton-ekaton American! (100%) Thanks for steering me to other Greek-philos. I was lucky to spend some time in Hellada and I seem to have an ear for languages. Taught myself Greek - then eimai fluent, alla boro na milaou kai diavaso (speak and read, but not expert by any means). Sas parakalo, NJGatagyneka!!

  • Ah! Smart woman, you are!!! I, years ago, (I have since forgotten) had taught myself how to READ Greek...hence, I could read a Greek newspaper...just didn't know what I was reading! LOL! Oh, and another great YT'ber and fellow Greek, is Dennis Katsanis, of "EdgeCityDeek" on YT. He is a wealth of Greek history. (And enormously funny sense of humor!) I am happy to see us Greeks re-unite! How I envy your going to Greece. It is my dream to live there one day. Great people, great food!

  • I stand and I salute all of you.

  • Anytime I meet a man or woman who is obviously in, or was in the Armed Forces, I either shake their hands, or give them a hug, along w/ my thanks. I will stand next to you, Moomay11649, and I will salute them also. Thank you! :)

  • AWESOME JOB VERY NICE TRIBUTE thanks

  • Thank you very much, Pensygirl54!

  • Great video

  • Thank you so much, Duck309! I appreciate your kind comment! :)

  • Great vid Kat...even though I am not American I have great respect for the american forces...may they all get home safe and sound along with our Canadian soldiers.

  • Newfieguy89, your kind comment means a lot to me! I also wish to extend my gratitude to our Canadian friends! Nov 11 is their Veterans Day also. Please forgive my oversight...

  • It's ok. A lot of people dont realize we have a Remeberance Day here in Canada. The main problem we all have is that our government will not make it a stat holiday. Why would we not honor all of them will a national holiday? A day to stop and remember what great sacrifices they have all paid for our freedoms.

  • Great tribute to your Dad Kat.

  • Thank you so much, woofybigj! I appreciate that. Pop had nightmares the rest of his life....he lost so many buddies....He was in the hospital while his battalion went on to fight in the Battle of the Bulge. Most of those troops all died. Daddy was also supposed to receive the Purple Heart, but never did...So he, and all of our men and women are in my thoughts and prayers, everyday, and especially to remember Veterans Day.

  • These were the bravest of the brave.

My uncle Eddie died in that war.

They fought for the freedoms WE now enjoy and we should get down on our knees and thank them.

    My dad's birthday was 11-11-22.

I personally thank ALL of you.

  • Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your Uncle in that war! Was he Army? My Dad lost so many buddies....war devastates everyone...God Bless your Uncle Eddie. May his, and all of our military people, may their sacrifices never be forgetten.

  • My uncle was a sailor and died at sea.

I still have the notice from Pres. Roosevelt.

    Loves,

    Moomay

  • Aaahh....the Navy was always MY fave branch of the miliary. I got thisclose to joining...took all my tests...all I had to do was sign on the dotted line....The military wasn't to kind to their female soldiers 30+ years ago. Hey, did you know that Navy men get to ride the Waves?! lol! (sorry...couldn't resist that one! LOL!)

  • Mahalo WIDE for the vid Honey, my Daddy serve in the Marine Corps in Korea, did 6 years active duty & 20 inactive...that's how it was back then when you joined.

If my Daddy hadn't survived I would never be, I woud never experience the pleasures or the pains of life & trucking for me would never have been. There are men who died in his platoon whose frozen corpses served as sandbags @ the Chosun Reservoir where 1 of the Marines bloodiest battles took place...mahalo a nui loa 1st Marines 3rd Div.

  • Wow, Weldaz1! That's really something! A Marine! WOW! And that statement about frozen corpses serving as sandbags gives me the goosebumps....I just can't imagine those horrors of war...thank you so much for sharing that story... Mahalo WIDE to you, and your Dad, Weldaz1!

    God Bless! :)

  • Wish I could a tribute together for my Daddy, his life from the Corps to trucking...a tribute of survival & the grace of God. A tribute to the men whose sacrifice brought my Daddy home alive so I could become...

Honey, I wanted to be a Rifleman like my Daddy, go into the the Force ReCon...Daddy was a combat Marine, I felt it only I should be a combat Marine. My problem was 2-fold country wasn't @ war, I picked up a felony just before I was supposed to swear in...went to prison instead...

  • Great to see.....my husband is a serving soldier

    Sandra x

  • Sandra, I know I am not alone in saying this, that your husband will be in our thoughts and prayers, and may he return to you, and his loved one's, safely and without harm. Thank you so much for stopping by...and I Thank your husband and you, for your sacrifices. :)

  • Great Video ! To those that served during that time, I thank you for for serving. Our way of life Would not be the same with out you.
