And when the independence mob took over the Post Office, they were cowed by angry war wives who couldn't collect their allowances.

And the leaders of 1916 did not give up the fight in the GPO for that reason you idiot.

You obviously have no knowledge of the intentions of the uprising, it wasn't to free Ireland in that one event but to create a "blood sacrifice" so called by Padraig Pearse so as to turn the people of Ireland against the British expansionists! @mcguck91 The same methods used by the civil rights movement in the USA - peaceful protest, the use of the ballot box, media at all levels, lobbying from local to worldwide level - were available to oppose discrimination in NI, with so much less suffering on all sides.
