@Kleinalrik the stone age knife didn't cut because of the sharp edge, it cut with the serration. It made the blade "spiky" and it was more suitable to cut various objects.
k so i tryed making one before watching this video and knew nothin about this i was ussing a hammer and vice to hold the flint then was chiping pieces off and i was holding the flint up to a bench grinder to see if that worked half the time i was wearing a facesheild but i dont think that could block the dust should i be worried if so explain msg me
To find flint you need to make sure that you are in an area underlain by chalk. Flint occurs as secondary silicate nodules within chalk. In an area underlain by chalk the flint nodules may be found in ploughed soil or in rock exposed beneath upturned tree roots and may also be concentrated by surface transport in rivers and streams.
@crypter27 Not that hard. To make a Macuahuitl, all you really need is a large amount of flat obsidian flakes and the wood. Make your notches and glue the flakes (plus some work for a handle), and you're finished.
were can i buy tools to knap stones? What other stones can you do that too?

were do you find the flint
dwoods1971 2 years ago
My english isn´t that good, ao my apologies if I took something wrong.
It appears to me as if you are purposingly dulling the edge. At the end of your vid you even rub your thumb over the edge.
So what is the use to dull a knife that´s been sharp in the first place?

can i do the pressure flaking with a screwdriver
MonoxideXT 3 years ago
You really need copper or antler. Screwdriver is too hard, and would not grip the stone properly. Give it a try though, best way to learn

@mosquitoavenger thats not a screw driver that is flatened peice of copper...
