The problem is when people think that believing in their particular god makes them right and everybody else wrong. @LABCall actually, to clarify - I don't have a MORAL problem with the act of belief. Of course it's a bit mental when we factor in dinosaurs and other prehistoric life, but it's not in itself fundementally evil. The moral question mark comes not from saying, "I believe in this god" but from saying, "I believe in this god so that makes me special."

Humans were created to consider God's moral code in all their dealings - the first human couple were created perfect and had free will - they did not have any imperfection which inclined them to be disobedient, however, their continuing life in human perfection (free from problems, sickness, ageing & death) was dependant on following God's guidlines for living.

This would not have burdened them with any kind of hardship - God had told them that they could freely eat from any of the other trees - only one was marked for prohibition.

They had the opportunity of proving themselves trustworthy and reliable.

Having reads Dave's very hilarious biography, it came as a complete surprise to me to discover Dave was a devout Roman Catholic. Considerably less of a surprise was that he was also was a person who loved to take the piss out of Irish Roman Catholics and in turn himself.

I don't have a problem with people choosing to believe in Christianity, Islam or any other religion. The problem is when people think that believing in their particular god makes them right and everybody else wrong. If there is a god, why would people think he wants them to kill unbelievers in his name when he's perfectly capable of doing it much more efficiently!

@LABCall actually, to clarify - I don't have a MORAL problem with the act of belief. Of course it's a bit mental when we factor in dinosaurs and other prehistoric life, but it's not in itself fundementally evil. The moral question mark comes not from saying, "I believe in this god" but from saying, "I believe in this god so that makes me special."

Don't get me wrong, I am all in favour of peace and love. Of course I am. But the message of peace and love does not need a god to validate it. The sooner religion is removed from lessons of right and wrong, the better.

@IzzyIzzyKeKo there are some grey areas when it comes to morality, I admit - when James Bond kills the big villain with the evil plan to enslave or slaughter large masses of the population, he is committing murder but by doing so saving humanity.
But on a more general level, ie teaching kids basic morality, we don't need to invent gods to define right and wrong. That's all I was saying.

Humans were created to consider God's moral code in all their dealings - the first human couple were created perfect and had free will - they did not have any imperfection which inclined them to be disobedient, however, their continuing life in human perfection (free from problems, sickness, ageing & death) was dependant on following God's guidlines for living.

It was only right that God expected obedience from them, but as free moral agents .. He did allow them the choice and as an expression of their loyalty to Him as their life giver in paradise conditions, He stipulated one command, a test by which they could confirm their obedience.

@IzzyIzzyKeKo While Adam and Eve were allowed to enjoy their surroundings and live life to the full in perfect human health, their only boundary or restriction was to refrain from eating from one particular fruit bearing tree that was in the middle of the garden of Eden. This would not have burdened them with any kind of hardship - God had told them that they could freely eat from any of the other trees - only one was marked for prohibition.

@IzzyIzzyKeKo Being in the middle of the garden would have been a constant reminder of God's Law and His Sovereignty. God had explained to Adam the full consequence of disobeying this one command - for Adam and Eve this was the Law, one command, not complicated - they were perfectly capable of keeping it and their future lives .. and also that of their children would depend on total obedience to that Law. They had the opportunity of proving themselves trustworthy and reliable.

@IzzyIzzyKeKo Adam and Eve could have lived forever, that was God's original purpose and it was also their choice to accept God as the ultimate authority in matters of 'good' and 'bad' - disobedience to God's Sovereignty would have consequences. Any falling short of God's required standard for perfect human beings is 'sin' - that being also the definition by which humans fail to accomplish or reach God's perfect Law and don't qualify for everlasting life.

If we are to believe your story of Adam and Eve as the "divine intelligent creation" then they would also have been created then. Surely we can carbon date the existence of modern humans to hundreds of thousands of years before that, therefore their language would not be originally Hebrew.

If some one created God, then he wouldn't be God anymore, that's not logical. What is logical is that everything must have been created (like the universe we know from science was) by the "first cause" or something that was not ever created, that existed within itself, "the unmoved mover". This thing from which everything else was created we know as GOD!

so thats no fairy tale its facts, this is why jesus christ came to the earth as he lived for millions of years in heaven, but gave up that to come to earth to pay back what adam lost,PERFECT LIFE,So jesus died and gave his PERFECT LIFE in exchange for the one adam lost, there we have it the facts.
adam could of done the same by not disobeying god and by so doing would of never died, the only way adam would die was by eating from that tree, if he never ate it he would NEVER DIE

By the way, I have seen no perfection after this Jesus "sacrificed" himself. I only see murdering, rape, pedophilia, wars, terrorism, corruption, etc. and etc.

so everyone born since adam will all die because adam lost perfect life for his children, its like this, if you had a bread tin and put a dent in it,then EVERY loaf made in that tin will have that dent mark,so adam was perfect and would never die,but when he disobeyed jehovah then he became imperfect and every child born would also be imperfect,just like the dent in the bread tin, you can imagine eve saying to adam "LOOK IM NOT DEAD" there is one thing eve forgot about THAT DAY

@outandabout10 God is made up of mans insecurity and obliviousness. Those who did not know any better at the time, said that anything mysterious came from god. God is an excuse, nothing more. Religion is full of Hippocratic rules and people as well. The commandment thou shalt not kill, more people have been killed "in the name of god" than everything else combined. Just some food for thought. Dont mean to offend anyone, but religion is too flawed to be correct.

Having reads Dave's very hilarious biography, it came as a complete surprise to me to discover Dave was a devout Roman Catholic. Considerably less of a surprise was that he was also was a person who loved to take the piss out of Irish Roman Catholics and in turn himself.
