  • wow she did better than my horse is gonna do when i brake her

  • I just wat to say this i dont care if people give abuse for the first try she COULD have stayed at the side of the horse im just saying this but u no more than me so no arguments

  • good job! now thats the CORRECT way to break a horse!

  • I broke my girlfriends back when I rode her.

  • Beautiful horses!! I love the Fjords!!

  • Best video ever! You guys are so good with horses!

  • im soon breaking in my gorgeous pony whos 3 ! any tips ??? :)

  • @K33L3Y2011 Take it slow. Be gentle. Listen to your horse so you only ask for things it can do. Give reward when the horse do right. Practice every day, but only a short period of time.

  • wow... when I broke in one of my ponies, he did not accept the bit that nicely. But he was a stallion who could get a bit cheeky...

    well done! amazing video!

  • you force yer horses to stand on cament???

  • FJORDS! :D

They might not be in their stall when you feed them in the morning. ;D

  • what kind of pony is that?

  • @movieaddictx2 Fjord horse

  • This is not horse breaking, lol... you are too kind to the horse to be horse breaking :). More people should be this way when starting a horse. Good job. Thanks for posting

  • That was excellent! Great job! :D

  • that saddle looks kind of small. is it sopposed to look like that. im not rly good with horses

  • She's really clever if she got all of that in just five days, my congrats ;)

Very good way to work with horses; actually, the only right one. Keep it up! :)

  • I just have to disagree with this whole video...sorry.

  • the only problem I see is the saddle is WAY to far up on her.

  • @RodeoHorsey Depending on where the shoulders are positioned on a horse and/or pony effects how far up and far back a saddle will be.

  • Im the end the only way i noticed which one was just broken was the yellow headcollar on her, well done =D x

  • FJORDS!!

  • wow! loveee ittt if only my horse was that calm... Oh btw is tat a Fjord?

  • that saddle is way too far forwards

  • iF YOU WHERE TO START A MUSTANG LIKE THAT YOU BOTH WOULD BE DEAD! YOU ARE WORKING WITH A DRAFT AND A PONY!

  • @MsNobody2121

My kiger mustang was more potato than this fjord... breed doesnt matter, proper handling and training does.

  • brilliant video-calm,patient,gentle and EARNING trust, the way it should always be done!:)

  • Are you from Norway? the horse you have is a Norwegian Fjord and i notice you have an accent.

  • aahh sooo cute lol

  • those 2 horses look exactly the same!!! lol wat kind???

  • @theajs18

kind? breed you mean? it's a norwegian fjord.

  • great job! with an unbroken pony when their good with you leaning over them and you sit with one leg over each side is it good idea to bend down like your still leaning over them? and then slowly sit up?

  • @4evadressage I don't know. I guess the most important thing is that you are not thrown off! :-)

  • That's interesting how you don't straddle the horse at first; I had no idea it was done that way.

  • why get someone who cant even get on a horse to first ride her ????

  • @ONLYUSEmeBLADESjnr

When you start a horse, a lot of people choose to lie across their back to make it easier to slip off if something goes wrong, as you can see in the beginning of the video. If they were to sit on the horse right away, it's a lot less likely that you'll land on your feet if AND WHEN YOU COME OFF.

  • this is giving me ideas to help my friends horse...do u have any recomendations on how to stop making a horse throw up with head and start bolting? my friend horse has a VERY BAD problem about that

  • @Adalynsbigsis try using a chambon. my thoroughbred used to throw his head and grab the bit and take off over jumps. so we started using a chambon on him, and it helped to teach him a proper head set. also make sure she has her horse vet check to make sure there isnt something physically wrong first.

  • @ThePunkIrish27 thanks, yeah, the horse is fine,but i will definetly try that,thanx ;)

  • @Collettevanhout- u obviously don't know anything about horses they were perefectly fine and it doesn't matter wether or not they are a warmblood or cold blood fyi

  • You are so stupid!

The area is not good, there are to many things that the horse can hurt himself on.

And secondly when the rider is trying to get on the horse, the man is standing at the wrong side!

If he stand on the side that the rider is, he can help the rider and the horse is turning around him if something happen, now the horse turns against the rider with his back legs........

Wellt this is only a fjord, but never do this with a warm blood!

  • I weigh 428lbs could these horses hold me? I would be afraid of being bucked off and fall to the ground.

  • the saddle is far far far too far foward on that pony

  • thats a fucking small horse

  • norwegian fjords are so cute. We have to of them at our yard and i ride them all of the time. they are so gentle.

  • i would suggest to anybody who is breaking in a horse to do lots of groundwork and despooking, it gives for a better horse in the end...

  • Beautiful!! Norwegian Forjd Ponies!! amazing!!

  • the bridle is always the hardest. for me anyway

  • Your horses are so beautiful and so well looked after, if only everyone had as much trust and care with horses as you do!

  • Wow! You guys are amazing with those horses! So much trust and respect!

  • great job! how old was the horse when you first broke him/her?

  • Thank-you for this and all your horse films. It hase been my life -long dream to have a horse, but around here people act like you need a PhD in the topic just to be alone with one. You give me hope.

  • I love ow they saddle and bridle a green horse in barn

  • They have taught their horses well- Prior to any riding training.

  • Every one breaks their horse in many different ways, and it's the horse that is what caused the reaction. Chill out guys,

  • gud vad fin hon var :)!

  • fjord lovely horse

  • Det var en väldigt bra metod ni hade, att ta det långsamt, det är väldigt viktigt att man inte skydar på deras utbildning.Väldigt duktig unghäst och ryttare:)

  • thats bot breaking in, thats just backing

  • dude?? first time thats amazing O.O

  • that horse has clearly had way more than 5 days trainin !

  • how would u no

  • @Horseloverkooder coz they need long reined ect and it wouldnt just stnd there if that was the 1st time of a saddle bin put on its back !

  • yer i guess so but i meen my horse did but as soon as i put my foot in the stirip he jumped

  • a first bit is not plastic ?? norlay you start them with a flavored plastic bit and they like it alot more.

  • GOOD WORK!!! i

I think you did a very good and kind job with this young horse.

  • same but different approach.. I was going to comment on how slow you take it with the horse but I figure that you aren't pressed for time so I decided I like your style!! I do prefer a little backup or something when I ride in the open.. I just recently took a colt out in a big open field and the horse spooked at something and bucked and ran through a fence.. so I slowed things down and he's good now!! sometimes slowere is faster! good job

  • very good video :) gorgeous little horse. you backed this horse very well, it probably helped that it is so quiet and well behaved :) well done very nicely done.

to all the people who are criticizing, you are all misguided, they did this very well! & yes do things both sides but not necessarily on the first time, let the horse get used to being mounted and ridden a bit first then do both sides. you cant say they are wrong when they did it successfully and in a safe humane way.

  • omg thanks sooo much

  • thnx for posting a video cause well i need all the info i need because in 2 weeks im getting a colt and im will to train it will be my first time training so i will need all the info i can get thnx

  • Thats so cool, good luck

  • ty my colt is so cute and smart ty so much for wishing m luck! :D

  • Thx for ur videos - we've used them to start our new Welsh pony. Timid boy -brought him to a busy city paddock. Instead of protecting him, no silly natural horsemanship just real life with us. One week now patted by kids & fine lead in traffic. Noone guesses he's unbroken. We had high expectations & confidence - he quickly learnt riding is his job. 1 week, 30 mins/day to leading my 18yo daughter on him and will trot out with big horse next week. Would have taken much longer if not for you :)

  • Thanks for your comment. Good luck with your horse. / M

  • Fiords and Haflingers are the best ;)

  • VERY nicely done!!! U can tell theres a lot of trust there in both horse and human!! I wish everyone used this method!

And people itt can be done in 5 days if u can work with it multiple times a day, it also depends on the temperment of the horse.

  • hhorsesrlife - that is sooooo not possible - even a pro couldn't do it that easily

  • @Agilitypoodle385 well then ur ppl must not know how its done..it is possible..luke 1:37 says for with God nothing shall be impossible..i prayed over my horse and b4 i got on and that 3 year old did in fact ride her and the horse did infact let her ride....think b4 u comment..things are possible

  • I highly doubt that. Even so, you put a 3 yr old on a 3 day broke horse? That's GENIUS!

  • 5 days are better than 1 day as they do on Island :-)

  • Eh. Theres no way it took 5 days. Anyone can edit it down and say it was 5 days. Took me a month to FULLY break my horse Scout. Took a week and a few days to get him to take the bit that perfect. This is bullshit.

  • Actually it could have taken 5 FULL days of work since horses have different personalities.

  • so your judging how every horse is broken only bye you breaking your horse? every horse is different. some horses could be trained almost perfectly in a day, some horses it might take years, depends on the trainer and horse

  • get the hell in the saddle

  • great jobb

and thats how you break a horse=)

  • Wow, did she really take the bit that easily?!

  • Camera never lies...

  • 5 Days!

That was Amzing if it only took 5 days!

  • Very nice calm method of breaking, you see too many people trying to jump onto the horse, get their feet in the stirrups and try to hold on while the horse freaks out and takes off bucking.

  • der sattel is viel zu weit vorne

  • i just got a fjord horse

  • the fjord breed is an amazin breed to have in my eyes tbff, i have one of my own called ozlo, he works lovely!

  • Gorgious horse what kind of horse is she???

  • it's a norwegian fjord.

  • thank u so much

  • look nice place & horse =)

  • i love the fjord breed we have one of them at my stables :) so cute!

good job with the training tho!

  • You can't break a horse that your scared of o.O

  • great job! only thing i can say is in the first mount you probably shouldn't have stayed on that long. That is if that was the first mount. If not and you've done the mount a couple of times prior then you probably were at a good time for her and just a bit of awkwardness of leaning over them.

  • She looks like she enjoys being ridden! Good luck in training her.

  • a horse should get used to seeing people from both eyes other wise it may come as a shock to them

  • A lot of people make that comment. But I have never ever in my entire life had any problem what so ever with that.

  • very cute horse, and good luck to your training!!! :)

  • I love Norwegian Fjords <3

  • very cute horse. [: nice training. :)

  • it don't really madder witch way u mount on a horse, u can do it left or right side

  • when you're training a horse, it helps to remain consistant. That's why it's a good habit to stay on the left.

  • Really? Ya think.

  • no no, when your backing a horse you don't put you feet in the stirrups so that if the horse goes mental (as you saw-ish) its easy to slip off and calm the horse before either of you gets hurt

  • I agree

  • what the fuck is it with some people!! i reckon its jelousy!! god we cant have our own say in things like u swear its all them them them... they shud keep their bitchy comments to themselfs!! do yah agree wit me?

  • Saddles too far up. Other than that it was very nice! No hitting or kicking or yelling. You just don't want her not liking the saddle because it doesn't feel good. Good luck what a gorgeous horse!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • no affence but it would help if the saddle was in the right place lol. vry good tho :D

  • Jeg vil gjerne gratulere deg med på en jobb svært godt, og informatively, Don.

  • hi, how do u get a horse used to having signals given to them by tapping their sides with your feet because me and my friend are trying to get a horse used to being ridden after 2 yrs of being a pasture ornament?

  • i hope ye done everything on both sides... mounting ect... u realy only broke her on one side...

  • yu=our ment to do it like that thicko

  • keep your knickers on love! where i work and when i do horses myself we do everything on both sides!! think bout it!! it makes sence if u no anything bout horses atal!!

  • your only ever meant to do mounting etc. on the horses left...

  • no love u do everything on both sides!! not just the left! any horse trainer will tell u that!

  • wow... your a real asshole arnt you. where the fuck are you from?

  • In the past it was because your sword was on your left side.

  • Very nice- this is how horses should be broke. :0) Lovely Fjords, too!

  • you are a very brave person to get on and train a green horse!!! Awesome Riding and training!!!

  • Can you get them in Australia.?

  • you have a very calm horse!

  • Ser rätt roligt ut ju :) det gick ganska okej ser det iallafall ut som (:

  • wow very nice! ur very gentle lol! awsome peoples!

  • how do u introduce a bit because when people try to bridle them for the first time they dont know to open there mouth

  • Take the bridle and hold it with your right hand while its rested between their ears and I place my thumb in their mouth. They'll open their mouth and it'll slip in... Keepin your right hand on the top of their head keeps them from yankin their head up and way from you... Just takes patience.

  • when do u introduce a bit during breaking or do u?

  • I personally introduce the bit to them as yearlings [longeing with a saddle at 2, riding at 2 1/2 if they're ready. I've waited until 3 1/2 before.] just so they can get used to it. Ground driving gets them used to responding to you while you're not right beside them and gets them accustomed to responding to the bit. It is a nice building block for working towards longeing the foal, too.

  • what type of breed is that? I think they are really cute! I want one!!!

  • Norsk Fjordhäst

  • aka, Norwegian Fjord.

  • i like the way you lead that horse with feed in your hand, now i know how to lead my horse while trying to break mine. tyvm

  • umm lolz thats a perty horse=]i have a kiger mustang whos two and shes bigger than that lolz.i guess it depends on the breed.lolz great vid and cute horse^_~

  • i tryed this on a 8 year old arabian first time i got her out with me on her and someone walking her she bit my butt and bit my leg

  • why is your saddle on the horses neck? Thought it was supposed to be just behind the withers. ..............

  • actually its suppose to be right on the withers, lifted up some not behind the withers.

Though agreed the saddle is too far forward on this pony.

  • Your saddle i8s way too far forwards you should just ty and lean on it straight away. Lunge it first get it used to voice commands for a week. then stand up and apply pressure on the saddle. after 2-3 days of that lean like you did but don't put your foot in the stirrup. This gonna be 1 messed up horse i tell ya

  • It looks like you guys just has Norwegian Fjords..

  • what about that bay?

  • oh..lol...oops

  • awesome job - I love your property by the way.

  • very lovely!

  • så fint. bra jobbat.

  • dont put the saddle that high up the horses neck!

  • Lol it took me 2 days to train trotting horse in rider

  • wow it took 5 days for her to let her be ridden thats amazing it took my pony 3 months to be able to be ridden to that extent

  • Fjords!!!

  • I just purchased a Paint/QH Mare that I am going to break. Thank you so much for the inpspiration, I hope she goes that easily. Fantastic job, guys, people could learn a few from you on how it should be done!

  • Nice horse. Look Norwegian

  • adorable little mare

  • that wasnt the first time gettin a bridle on tho was it?

  • VERY nice work! This is how it should be done.

  • that was amazing! was that like 5 days in a row>?

  • hehe I love fjords, they're so quiet and laid back about everything.

Great to see the horse getting lots of praise and encouragement - she comes on so quickly.

  • beautyful fjord

  • Nice job! She's comming along well.

  • Good job!

  • that is how it should be done!!! if only more people would do it the correct way, with patience and care - at the horses own pace! then there would be less ruined and fearful horses out there :)

  • I completely agree.

This movie is a good demonstation of patience and trust being built.

It only spooked once, and that was only of little fault.

Well done for only after 5 days she's already trotting with-out dramas.

And first breaking in at 3 is a good idea too :)

Otherwise you can stunt their growth, it it's too soon.

  • She takes the bit well.Great job!

  • waw my horse was never like that i just got on her bare back in a head coller but iv had her since she was 4 months old so we have a lot of trust in each other

  • That horse is so pretty. Is that a Norweigen Fjord Horse?

  • Yes
