Great job : ) I really enjoy your voice and interpretation of this song. Awesome, just awesome man, well done. Thank you for sharing this with us. I just discovered this song last week. And I am so glad that I did.
beautiful! Do it any way it feels good, life is a mist here for a while and gone and music like this makes it worthwhile like your mellow version..., mine isn't even close, but I'm doin' it anyway
those it take it all too seriously are missing something
Thanks for the chords. I can already see you are correct in your transcription. I think 10 yrs time evolved my arrangement into the incorrect passing chords I now play. If I had another instrument to play along with, I'd love to get it to play that G note through the other chords, to give it that pastoral quality EJ and Buckmaster had in their version. I'm going to have a look at these chords though.
Hope you get the chance to listen to some of my other covers.
Hi again! No worries re your own intro. That's allowed! Yes, Buckmaster's arrangements were/are stunning. Remember the strings on MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER, for example?
You did a beautiful version of this beautiful song. This is perhaps one of my top ten favorites of Elton. Paul Buckmaster was at the peak of his powers during the Friends period, and Taupin's lyrics, which are usually unimpressive to me, fit the movie perfectly.
And whilst on the subject, if you love this song but have never seen the movie Friends, roll the dice and rent it. It was life-changing for me as a teenager.
Thank you for posting this, and for all the awesome info in your comments about this post. I cant begin to put in words all that's inside me, when it comes to replying to people on here.. and so i won't even TRY right now, except just to let you know that. Very nice voice and playing! =) And I own the Elton "Rare Masters" CD too =) I've just recently started posting on here, so I'm TRYing!! : )~ I have a few EJ songs so far.. more to come. I might try this song too! =) I appreciate your talent!
This is wonderful. Bless you.

Your voice is fine but , sorry, you should pay attention to the correct chord structure!
The G root remains throughout the fist 8 bars, i.e:
G Gmaj7 C/G // C/G // G (repeat)
It is only at the change to F that the root note shifts with the following chords, (NOT including Am7):
F C/E G // F C/E D11 (add A) // ( Rpt. top line
For any of you out there reading this, I am NOT a know it all! I just know this guy could do an even better version of a lovely EJ song.

Oh, and the chords I use in the intro are not the chords in the EJ/PB 1971 film/studio versions. Again, time blurred things a bit. ;-)

Your voice is slightly reminscent of Neil Young. You, sir, are a sensitive, talented musician and artist.
