One thing is beyond argument. Elvis didn’t write much,Chuck Berry did. Berry wrote almost every one of his many hits.All Elvis did was appeal to white audiences, make it OK or safe for them to delve into the black R & B and blues artists whom he and/or his writers used, in some measure at least, for source material. Let’s be honest... if Chuck Berry were white, he’d likely be universally recognized as the undisputed King of Rock and Roll.

@Delizia09 Actually if Jackie Wilson would have been white he would have been the man. Even Elvis said that he was the black Elvis Presley. Without Little RIchard, Chuck Berry and Bill Haley Rock and Roll would have died. But Elvis was born to sing and he was original and the greatest of all time. He was a genuine human being very humble like most of the original rock and rollers. He just happened to have it all, the voice, the looks and the timing. God bless them all.

@Zecalran Actually he was part killed by his exploitive greedy manager Colonel Tom Parker, too many shows in Vegas, too much touring all in a short 5 year period of time,and was killed by a broken heart first over the loss of his Mother,then eventually a Divorce,and a break up of a long time relationship in 1976 was the death knell. Although the divorce in 1973 was worse. As much as he was angry at the infidelity of Priscilla all through their marriage the divorce still was a deep cut.

elvis definitely sang this song better than chuck ever did, but come on, this isn't a song that focuses on vocals. its about the guitar riffs and solos. and as far as I'm concerned, the only person who plays this great song for all that it is is Chuck Berry. however, this, along with Hendrix's version, is my favorite cover.
