If you are a beginner, it would be best to buy a kit with just one bass drum and get a double kick pedal. I would recommend a Pearl kit with 3 mounted toms and 1 floor tom, and Sabian AAX cymbals if you hve the money. Then, as you get better, expand your kit.

DO NOT GET A PULSE! Trust me. If you're a beginner and depending on how old you are, start on either a ludwig or pdp. I was into death metal on my First Act kit with a 10" crash, and it just did't cut it. I suggest pdp fs. Learn single bass, then get a $200 double pedal. I did that and I can hit at least 270 (no tapping).
