A state budget was finally approved on Feb. 20, 2009. It involves: $15 billion in tax increases, $15 billion in cuts (mostly to education), and $11 billion in new borrowing (what idiots are going to buy Calif. junk bonds?). DMV offices are still going to be closed at least one Friday every month. LOL

This new budget will raise taxes on a gallon of gas by 12 cents, raise the general state sales tax by a penny, double the car tax invoked for registration, and place a 5 percent fee on people to file their state income tax. It will place an estimated $1700 a year tax increase on every household in the state over the next five years. It shouldn't pass, period.
