1.)Dr. Wendell O. Belfield, DVM, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, is leading the way in revolutionizing veterinary practises. He uses large doses sodium ascorbate therapy to treat distemper. The dose level was begun at one-half gram per pound of body weight(yes, that's correct) administered intravenously twice daily. With dosages this high, Dr. Belfield uses the sodium ascorbate form of Vitamin C as opposed to the ascorbic acid form.
2.) The intravenous preparations used were made from crystals to avoid sodium bisulphate, a preservative in the commercially available intravenous products, which can cause nerve problems when given at high dosages. He stressed that once this process was started NOT TO INTERRUPT IT FOR ANY REASON not even if the pet appeared to be feeling better or seemed fully recovered before the five days were up because he says "treatment broken off in the middle permits the virus to come back."
3.)For vets who want to read on Dr. W, O. Belfield's cure for distemper:
Belfield, WO 1967, 'Vitamin C in treatment of canine and feline distemper complex.' Veterinary Medicine, Small Animal Clinician : Vm, Sac, vol. 62, no. 4, pp. 345-8.
@mlabcxk I'm sorry. The first couple of minutes are very difficult to watch. If you skip ahead to the two-minute mark, you'll see each of these dogs healthy and recovered.
We lived in Argentina and when one got sick we called the vet. He said it was distemper and did not think the puppy would live. We used colloidal silver combined it with the vet's medicine. The vet came the next day. (In Argentina the vet makes house calls.) He asked us if the dog who came running and barking to the door was the same dog, she was indeed! He was amazed! We still have her here in the U. S. and her only remaining problem is that she has slight muscle spasms in her jaw.
i was wondering what kind of treatments are used to treat CDV? my boyfriend's dog, Charm, she's only 4 months old and she's terribly suffering from this disease.
@javin3907 Lots of information on treating canine distemper is on the Kind Hearts In Action channel. Go to our website (I can't post it in the comments) or e-mail directly at ed.bond.new.york@gmail.com. Let us know how old the dog is, what symptoms you are seeing, whether there are seizures and where you are located. Getting treated quickly is the key.
i really wish this video didn't have the crappy music so i could hear these animals. my 10 week old puppy has been diagnosed with distemper and it almost sounds exactly like "Icy", but i can't hear shit.
@deaneflores I can't post e-mail or Web sites to comments. The URLs you need at in the description below this video. Please go to those sites and e-mail us. Tell us where you are and what symptoms you are seeing.
