That was a fun day thing was from early mornin like I woke up at like what 0400am I think went till like 2000 give or take. Where is the shoot that crap was nasty long with the crap you get dumped in black brown lookin like someone just shit on you. Dont forget the sheleiy.
Crossed 1989 USS Antietam CG-54 as part of USS Independence battle group, right before desert shield....this is a sanitized version, we did it 'old school'
OKay, let me tell you something a little Old school... I crossed the line in 1989. This is a great rite of passage; however, this is all supposed to be secret. So those of you lucky enough to see this should feel privileged. This is a really big deal. Every sailor across the world, no matter how large or small the vessal makes note of crossing the equater. In fact this is such a big deal that the Dept. of the Navy records this in the personnell files that you are a shellback if you cross.
@derwin22 Very true. I, as a PS (formerly known as PN) have seen many Shellback certificates in member's records. I cannot wait to shead my Pollywog title and become a Shellback.
@Joeplumber76 the funny thing is, this is me in the video, and I never got the cert into my record... i left the ship before they put it in there... kinda sucks lol
I have a ? . I heard there is also a Rite of Passage Initiation , when a Warship crosses The International Dateline, Is it Simaler to the Shellback Initiation. or is it somthing totally different?
@charlie29943, No there is no ceremony. It is only recorded in the quater deck logs by the quarter master. However, there is an un offical, "divorce line" somewhere between San Diego and Hawaii. This is a very important line because it allows for spouses to do their thing, if you know what I mean.
coffee grounds would have been nice. Try the tobacco spit that was saved in a jar during tranist from the time we left Hawaii until we crossed the equater about 4 months later.
So do you think that we actually work 24hrs a day out there? Yes, we do work about 16hr days, and this was done during my time off. Obviously you were never in the military, and you've never heard of moral boosters. The shellback ceremony is an honored tradition in the Navy. It is done when you cross the equator. Tradition is a big part of the Navy. Look it up.
This shit is actually very important. When you cross the line, it goes in your service record that you are a shellback.
It's also supposed to be secret and it is something you would not understand unless you served in the Navy and went through it. Sorry that you are not enlightened to this. But then again it is supposed to be secret for a reason. You are nots supposed to be priviledged to see any part of the ceremony.
@alphadogg1074 is a typical jack who wears the conservative jacket. All words, he is pro war but chickened out of serving his country. He lets the working class kids serve while he is getting fat on mommy and daddies handouts!
@1020donny agreed.... he never responded back to my comments. And as for this being a secret, there's no way with today's technology that you can keep these things secret... i just put it up here because all my buddies in the navy that were with me want to see it and think its funny...
