this may be one of the most unsafe things ive seen on a boat in a long time. The leader man didnt have gloves, the line was wrapped around his hands, there was slack above his hands, and there was a gaff right above his shoulder. If that fish decided to take off, the leader man and the angler would have gone over. If the leader broke or the hook pulled, the leader man would have shot straight up and into the gaff head that was above him. and the gaff man hit the fish in the meat. bad bad bad bad

Greetings from Sydney Australia. That's a nice Yellowfin but nowhere near 300 pounds more like 200 pounds tops. You guys are very lucky that your hands weren't cut to pieces grabbing the leader without gloves if he had bolted again. You should never do this without gloves and it is fine to wrap the leader as long as you know the right technique which is sho9wn on Youtube. Also why was the leader unclipped from the rod did the line break at the end of the fight?

closer to 200, but still a huge yellowfin, and if you do it properly you always wrap the leader around your hand, deck hands wrap 300 lb mono on 1000lb+ marlin all the time, its how you pull the fish up the gaff or tag. When wrapped properly, just simply open your palm and point your fingers at the fish, it slides right off every time if needed. Good catch!
