  • That is beautiful. some peoples voices just suit ther own songs. Kris, late Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, all rough but gorgeous

  • When was this recorded?

  • What a legend!

Mixing the rough with the smooth and giving it loads, one man, a guitar and harmonica.

    Good enough for me.

  • i think this dude sounds good, not like the same old pop shit we here today. what will become of music when chris, willey, george die off. hope i die next day

  • Even bad, Kris is the best with Bobby McGee...

  • EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT JANIS SHUT UP. KRIS WROTE THIS. JANIS WAS AWESOME YES. BUT SHE DIDN'T WRITE THIS!

  • janis joplin sucks

  • @unleashhell1000 No she doesn't. She was one great singer and yes I understand it was Kris that wrote this song but I'm pretty sure he wrote it about her. They dated for a short time.

  • Janis Joplin ;) i love

  • At 67 I have had the great blessing to have lived through all the great music of the 60's-70'-80's and 90's. I watch Kris sing the songs that he wrote on LIVE TV. Kris wasn't the great singer but he made his music beautiful.

  • @Raybercon I so agree with you. He is a genious songwriter.

  • llore, te amo janis

  • cant be any more blues, than Kris in this one.

  • Very good song

  • It hurts just to hear him sing the song and then he said "Janis" and the pain was overwhelming...hard to believe that it was over 40 years ago when she sang it and to hear him play it now, it has to be hard for him, with the memories long past, to perform it, but it sounds so soulful...

  • nothin to add.its just..just great aint it

  • Kris is from my hometown - please check out my humble cover if you like.

  • Would you be the hottest songwriter and move in with the most volatile singer on tour and lose her because you weren't there?

  • Do you have the kahones to fly a helicopter into Johnny Cash's front yard and get out and hand over a tape of your songs?

  • An Janis - A Lil Bit Further On Up North Of The Rio Grande Valley, Port Arthur Texas

  • From The Rio Grande Valley , Brownsville Texas.., Folk's

    Kris Kristofferson

  • Kills me when he's says "Janis".

  • How can anyone not like this sexy, classy rogue?

  • I have heard the story but dont know if its true or not, but Janis heard Kris singing this "ditty" to himself in the shower and she secretly recorded it as a surprise gift for him. It was a real Pearl. This song should be "banned" from all karaoke nights. No one but KK or JJ should sing it. I like his version better but then I always like it slow and dirty.

  • Poor Man. Sounds like he's fighting a cold. I seen him in concert this past Feb in Omaha and he was fighting a bad cold then. But he still puts on a great show. He is one awesome songwriter! Plus I love his style of singing.

  • Yep he can sing. It any way he wants he wrote it for janes joplin the woman he loved

  • the only good thing RTE showed that year. A 4 minute lesson in good music.

  • he still has great hair..

  • People don't like this must be a Obama supporter

  • 4 dislikes...are you kidding me...!!!

  • Oh my, I remember watching him play that song.. But was it that long ago? IRELAND WOOOHOOOOOOOO !!!

  • he shings from the heart

  • He's the man

  • Such a balls he"s making of that lovely song

  • @CustardCreams321 He wrote it, you know.

  • @CustardCreams321 he wrote the song so im pretty sure he can sing it how he wants

  • I love this song from Kris...

  • Tinney sounding guitar...For Yahuasha sakes, give him a good instrument to play...I'm tired too...who is doing the sound? WTFO?

    Lowell Lee Morse

  • Såå grym...

  • KRISTOFFERSON, NOT KRISTOPHERSON PLEASE !

  • @servitrad He is right... It is Kristofferson, no complaining please

  • he was 1 of the men who used her! And they wanna talk about how much she was unhappy and how much they loved her. Loved as a piece of ass for the night. She was a wounded soul but still had soul. love her still and i am only 30

  • this dude kicksass

  • OH THANK YOU VERY MUCH KRISS THIS SONG TOUCH MY HEARTH HARDLY AND WHEN YOU SPEAK ABOUT JANIS JOPLIN IT s bautifull ,i know Janis Joplin was your friend, me it 's the Woman ,and my favorites singer;I love her while i have 14 years old ;now i m 46 and when i listen to Janis i get the same good feeling!

  • this guy is awesome!!!

  • Possibly the most underrated musician of all time. He's much, more more than just the old guy from the Blade movies (which I actually like).

  • I love it he wrote the song cuz I on YouTube from horses mouth k son

  • @MrMotelone cmere, were you high when you wrote that?

  • My understanding is that he did write it for Janis. They were lovers for a while. He was devastated when she died.

  • I have heard this awesome song for many years.. Tonight I actually listened.. Did Kris write this to Janis? Was Janis, Bobby McGee? Hate to sound so naive, just haven't been there all the time for the good times!

  • If Kris had never done anything with his life other than writing this song he would still be a legend.

  • Singing it like it was meant to be sung and as he wrote it...and the reference to Janis was a great touch

  • possibly the saddest country song ever

  • 4:01 video: "Me and Bobby McGee" written by Kris Kristofferson and Fred Foster; sung by Kris Kristofferson (born June 22, 1936).

  • The greatest musical philosopher of the 20th century, perhaps ever...

  • @SapperK9 bang on

  • @SapperK9 - I agree absolutely 100% with you - Lappies

  • beautifull

  • GO WHISTLER

  • Two musically inept idiots can't see why this is so good...

  • kris looks BETTER than EVER

  • Comment removed

  • Freedom´s just another word for nothin´ left to lose...

  • @tuxedo55 One of the best lines EVER!!!

  • @enlightenedDiamond

"...feelin' good was good enough for me..."

    Wow!

  • Legends never died

  • rubber duck is getting old

  • Kris brings it like it all to often is; dirty, slow, sad, slightly off key and with just the right amounts of road rash. Good enuff for me.

  • @BigDtootall As he said 'Hey man if it sounds country that's cos that's what it is it's a country song' and thank god for the troubador he is. Saw him in 2005 doubt I'll get to again, but man I hope I do.

  • @BigDtootall really couldn't have said it better. Thanks.

  • @BigDtootall I have all ways felt the same way , you put it ti the words that for so many years I could not find to describe it, Thanks!

  • Good enough for me (and Janis) I love them both! <3

  • Love You ALWAYS Kris...you have been my idol since the mid 70s and you get better and sexier as you age!! Check out the version of this song with the Highway Men!!

  • Love You ALWAYS Kris...you have been my idol since the mid 70s and you get better as you age!!

  • u done good kris....flat out

  • i love him, my big sister does, so does our mom and both of my big brothers.

  • This song isn't supposed to be about quality of a singer's voice... It's about passion, and soul, and realness... about good love lost... and about a Sadness and Emptiness of what is no more. -- And in all honesty, if you listen to Kris' ragged voice, you'll hear all of these things, much clearer than you do in the more melodious voices of many others, who have sung it.

  • First time i listened to any of his songs. I thought that he's not really a good singer, by modern standards. But the song really touched me. It was honest and i could feel, that he felt what he was singing.

  • Love this. Anyone who really loves Kris Kristofferson and his songs should own a record he put out called "the Austin Sessions". It's Kris (with his older grizzled voice) singing all his best songs, with great people backing him up like Steve Earle and Jackson Brown. Never heard any better versions of any of his songs than on this album.

  • This is the best version of the song. Although, I really enjoy Jerry Lee Lewis's take on this.

  • This is the best version of the song.

  • @FredC1968 There You can see how different opinions can be even if we both love this song: For me janis joplins version is far far far better and even waylon jennings version is better than Kris' own interpretations.

  • One of the most covered poetry song in the last 40 years. So well written, that its felt deep by most who hear it.

  • Just the way it was meant to sound. You can hear the age in his voice, and to me thats what makes it beautiful.

  • Love Kris so much, my ilife ..Thank you so much for a good quality -audio and photos,,Love Marie.

  • He made this song, he is fantastic, he didn't get a face lift I love a man's rugged look, thank god he doesn't look like Kenny Rogers, I always loved Chris.

  • whats so , hmmm, how do you say, reflective of conditioning, so so many people never even know Kris wrote this, they ONLY think of janis's version... so many times people come up to me, especially women, and want to sing this tune and all they know is the janis version...its like Always on My MInd, so many think THAT's a Willie Nelson tune...it's fragile sometimes between musicians and audiences.....

  • i like janis better, but i appreciate the originality he put into it

  • @jackme1112 You might like Janis better, but he did write the song so I think you do have something about the originality!

  • @jackme1112 he didnt put originality into it... he originated it

  • Came to your page after reading your comment! So come on mine and tell me what you think about me singing Janis:) Thanks dear!!!

  • *** A TRUE LEGEND ***

  • saw him in Shefield on his tour, what a legend.!

    Great show too

  • Great songwriter. He was a Rhoads Scholar, and was drafed to play pro football.

  • How many of you actually realize Kris dated Janis and the 1st day he heard his song ME AND BOBBY MCGEE done by Janis on the radio was the day she died? It really made him very sad as she loved life so very much and wanted to live it to the fullest . . . I personally believe he and Janis were soul mates.

  • Actually i do. I agree with you on the soulmate thing.

  • I did not know that. Thank you for sharing.

  • I have developed such an interest in Kris as I believe he might have been stationed in the military with my sister's first husband (who died at the age of 31 in 1973) - My sister seems to know a lot about him that I never thought she'd ever know. My sister's first husbnd Ed actually grew up around the corner from Dick Cavet in Sidney Nebraska - since they all seemed to be around the same age, I can't help wondering...? Both Ed and Kris were in Military Intelligence (the military actually

  • and Janis

  • love that part

  • oh yes really touching

  • Wow Kris is becoming a better singer as he ages :)

  • This made me cry when he said feeling good was good enough for me, and Janis. Beautiful Kris.
