I'm going to give a little outside critique..this might be because I'm a bass player as well, but I would have loved to hear that bass line a little more. I love that simple, but elegant bass line. I really like your band's interpertation of the song, but there is a little balance problem. Like i said before, it might be because i'm a rhythm player, but our director likes to hear more of the rhythm section. But overall, really awesome job.
First of all to everybody who says their band does this song better - post it on youtube and let the viewers decide or shut the hell up. This is a drum driven chart by Menza and the drummer does a great job pushing it along, using dynamics better than most HS drummers do. the guitar solo was very weak and out of place - dude, it's jazz not rock n roll. The sax line solo was terrific. Overall a nice job for a high school band.
@panther62189 you don't say.......................I'd really love to hear your band. Funny, you don't have any videos of your band posted. Why don't you post a couple so that we can comment on your band................or at least see how it should be played. I think that the students at PHS did a great job with this chart.
@PlayThatSax im not saying they did a good job but no were close to the Wind Machine and my combo is better than any of yall actually one ton mass rocket

And oh yeah, Wind Machine is a Sammy Nestico chart and Groovin' Hard is a Don Menza tune, both jazz standards played by the Buddy Rich Band. I also don't think that you can really compare a combo to a big band. They are completely different animals.
