  • Not the same without Tina Weymouth's goofy shit eatin' grin

  • Chills

  • If more people dislike it, I'll just have to like it more.

  • 36 is an evil number henceforth.

  • David B, knows how to reach into his is very soul, and then pulls us into rhythmic expressions of his own. That makes us close our eye's and drift away, somewhere where it is good. There will never be someone like David Byrne, you Rock, mann!!

  • @TheKmarlow Probably will be eventualy trololol

  • GENIUS

  • at real Genious ! respect !

  • Mr.Byrne is genious!

  • everytime my girl hear this ,she smiles .... :) this is our song for real ..

  • F**k CLASSLESS MUSIC IN THE 21ST CENTURY

  • I love this man. Genius.

  • I love this version

  • David Byrne is an original artist, a legend in music history and a brain in rock music. Much respect !

  • the man is a legend

  • great piece but what the fuck is the vibraphone playing?...the guy is deaf!!!

  • million thumbs up ...simply the best....

  • @kevcas73 I highly doubt that.

  • No dislikes allowed here you 31 big dummies, move along and leave all of us here happy , without your ridiculous dislike for something so beautiful. Piss off now. Thank you.

  • you need only look at the string section, they are all smiling throughout this magical performance........

  • Ricky Bobby taught David Byrne what to do with his hands

  • absolutely wonderful...truly a genius

  • 4:22 onwards, just... ahh, so beautiful.

  • I'd kill for tickets to see The Talking Heads reform and would go anywhere in the world to see it. I was just too young to have caught them, although I did see Tom Tom Club about 20+ years ago. Tina Weymouth says he's "incapable of returning love" and makes out he is a very difficult man to work with, so I reckon it won't ever happen. Clearly he's a genius though.

  • I love the way David dances!

  • ageless!

  • Simply fantastic....

  • listening to your ipod while performing is unprofessional, david.

  • @DrunkenNuts Oh c'mon, he's obviously not listening to an iPod! ;)

  • its a scientific fact, all 70's rockers secretly wanted a xylaphone in the band but knew it wasnt "cool"

  • 31 persons can't find the place!

  • david you're sexy

  • great

  • non male!

  • the guy who wrote fucking genius stole my post! hahaha.

  • a fucking genius.

  • u shouldnt forget ur band eventhough he wrote/sang all the songs....loyalty

  • Wall Street bitchesssss...this song epitomised the film. Never for money, only for love.

  • excellent version with a marimba!!!!!

  • SOMEONE PLEEZE find the 'official' live 'My Girlfriend is Better' video-the backwards dance version i see on here IS the vid,but I want it forwards!Pleeze send it to my channel,if ya run across it-i'll owe ya one.

  • 31 dislikes....for fuck sake!!!!!!! 31 people are hollow, fucking hollow I say!!!!!!!!!!

If this song does not fill you up you are a porous, unhappy fucker........

  • @kevcas73 10 points to that man :)

  • @kevcas73 well said!

  • @kevcas73 Ever thought of the fact people could press dislike accidently? You have issues mate. This song should make you happy, not psychotic.

  • @whoah1988 you can't differenciate between the song and the people hitting dislike.....I can---------mate.

    k

  • @kevcas73 thats probably right

  • @kevcas73 Or they just can't appreciate the song in the same way you probably can't appreciate at least one of the following: Modern mainstream pop, classical music (also opera), dubstep or rap. Hooray for not making ridiculous stuff up and being lenient of others. But seriously I bet some of your friends or family wouldn't like this. Also one of my favourite songs :P

  • I always felt "The Suit" was integral to this song.

  • Love it! I can listening to this all day, thank you David Byrne!!!!

  • You all have to see his performance of this song in the movie "This Must Be The Place" with Sean Penn....

  • kurumako. This art doesn't reach you. It's ok. It's boring to you. Some great art bores me too. There is some classical music/opera that is considered great...I don't get it either. You're alright man. There is no enlightenment. It's only a big deal to those who think it's a big deal. That's me and the others who think it's a big deal. It's not inherently a big deal. That's about all I got for you on this.

  • I feel like I have a relatively refined musical pallette...but I don't get what the big deal is. This song for example, is obviously well produced and well arranged, but, it's so boring. I'm not trying to bash the guy, it's obviously good, but how could anyone get excited about this? And, you'd thing as a professional singer you'd have a stronger voice. No disrespect intended, curious if maybe someone can show me the light.

  • @kurumako I think the thing is, you need to hear this version he did: watch?v=Cqg_ZGcuybs

  • This is a visionary song, where the poet embraces & enjoys infancy slowly; the parental-love bonding fills him with joy. (Vicariously WE feel joy.)

Then he sings of adult love & confusion & passion, where sex improves the bonding, reusing the infantile motife while celebrating joy.

Again he sings "never for money, only for love", suggesting a longing for an infantile or primitive image of the home as a "haven in a heartless world.

Imagine The Pixies or Cold Play hearing the open silences!

  • The only group that could inspire this aging jaded former roadie/instrument tech to stand on a seat in the old Forest Hills Tennis Stadium and, at the end of their performance of this song scream ," I wanna party with yoouu!"

I'm sure the Ludes the weed and lovely full moon in Queens had nothing to do with my outburst;as it was fine with the people around and with me on the floor of the show. I did get to party with them when I later worked on the Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremonies. Go Figure?

  • he looks exactly the same as he did in the 80's!

  • LOVE THIS

  • My favorite song ever! Love David Byrne and his quirkiness.

  • I wish i was him for fuck sake !!!.....lol

  • Pure genius!

  • 1:56....the one vampire dude from True Blood on the cello lol

  • Who thought a xylophone could sound so damn good.

  • @uyd me! They are awesome instruments. One day I will own many and play them in my home

  • If David Byrne was the president of the United States, that would be the coolest goverment in the whole world :D

  • LOVE ME TIL' MY HEART STOPS!!!

  • @fcdgnl i will :)

  • I just heard of David Byrne on a King Crimson video. I'm lucky I did :D

  • Amazing! Love this song!

  • this bloke got better with age , like a fine wine , fucking brilliant !

  • so crisp really.........

  • so crisp really.......... totally awesome

  • unbelievably good

  • That Snare sounds Perfect!

  • @bigrawbio so crisp!!!

  • Is this a woman or a man? 0:47

  • the man is a genius

  • Why does this bring tears to my eyes 20yrs past... it was when I was young running wild but I loved being at home... this is a song for Cancers of the Moon variety... it realy illustrates our introverted nature...

  • @alto100

it makes me cry as well.....:O)

  • funny to hear strings trying and failing to sound like a synth - it's usually the other way around

  • Sing into my Mouth is the best lyric anyone ever wrote.

  • respond to jeffreytslc , I do sure agree ,,,,

  • This is great. Thaks for the upload.

  • Gets better every time man :)

  • Gets better every time man :)

  • I love how this song can be pared down, dressed up, over-synthed, or just flat out messed with and still be just so great. It cuts through and clarifies, to waywardly quote an associated movie. And also...Hell Yeah! Bring the lamp!

  • Shootmyrunner is absolutely right. The only thing missing is the lamp.

  • I love how everybody is doing the same dance :)

  • 29 people are obviously deaf and bitter that they can't hear this profound performance.

  • Comment removed

  • How the f*** can you dislike this?

  • Finest collection of user names on any post.

  • i love david ..

  • It's funny how his face and body haven't really aged — just his hair went from black to white. Very Byrnelike of him.

  • I am in luv w/the cello player.Chk her out 0.55

  • Amazing song. Talking heads are 1 of a kind.

  • Genius

  • LOVE THE WAY THAT DAVE BOBS TO THE MUSIC IN THE BEGINING

  • David Byrne is awesome but he doesn't know what to do with his arms.

  • @kingjon617 hehe true :)

  • @kingjon617 Youtube Talking Heads Live 1984 and watch any of the clips and watch the man dance. :)

Even with a huge oversized suit on rofl

  • @kingjon617 - what does david byrne need arms for?

  • @kingjon617 LOL actually I was thinking the same :))))))

  • David Byrne - eccentric genius!

  • Far too good of a such cool song

  • I had the HONOR to meet him a few years ago @ The Newport In Columbus,Ohio

Now if I could meet Neil Young, David Bowie, and Peter Gabriel I can die a happy man!!!!

  • @lokiperson i wholoe heartedly agree with this!

  • this song just gets to me , i dont know why but it just does. i can listen to it over and over.

  • sheer genius...

  • See this LIVE in small venue when it's right in front of your face - and it will KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF~ Terrific! =] Watch for the live performance in a film that will be released at the Cannes Film festival this year - starring Sean Penn... Film is titled - ~This Must Be The Place~

  • this song just sounds ok to me but nothing special. i do like some D.Byrne songs though. im just checking them out now :)

  • wth he doesnt have any wrinkels

  • @musicaddict1964 Oil of Olay

  • Pure musical honey - so so sweet.

  • Of course he was cloned as a young man, leaving him ageless in appearance, and

    retaining his awsome talent.

  • Smply unusual as always, great musician....!

  • his voice is still amazing

  • I love Byrne. But how is it he has no wrinkles whatsover? Just wondering. He looks great, sounds great, is great.

  • Love this song :x

  • @shootmyrunner Knowing David Byrne, that seems like it will be a likely outcome in the future.

  • Pure Musical Genius.

  • This really is a great version but I think the Austin City Limits version is even better. The drummer and the strings are just a notch above this imo. And David is amazing throughout the whole show. It's available on DVD if it's not OOP.

  • Please. Just one reunion tour.

  • Love this version. Always good music when David Byrne is around!!!

  • I love how he lifts his eyebrows a little at "night" when he says "say good night" at 2:16

  • Brilliant. Just brilliant!!

  • He makes helps make life beautiful

  • Such a cool version. Love the Strings!

  • Woaw this song really is great

  • David Byrne's voice is a mellifluous now as it was 25 years ago. Thanks for the great post.

  • wow I hadn't seen this before. i was such a Talking Heads fan in the late 70-s to late 80's. David Byrne hasn;t aged at all! He is amazing. After the Beatles TH is my faves.

yeah David You rock of ages. Byrne was born in Dumbarton, Scotland on May 14, 1952. Two years later, his parents moved to Hamilton, Ont.. a prsage to Brian Eno and DAniel lanois working out of a garage there in the mid- 70;s? HAMILTON!.

  • All you that love Mr. Byrne...you all have the best musical taste! I wish we were all in the same room....listening to anything (and all) of his music...sipping beverages...and just hanging out. It would be the best party ever (for sure!) Cheers to anyone that loves David Byrne's music!

  • @jeffreytslc I couldnt have said it better myself!! :)

  • @jeffreytslc Here here!

  • @jeffreytslc Dood you sayin' it all... right dere wit you ya know... I'm realy an old drunk white dood that needs to go to bed... good nite now and God bless David Byrne...

  • David Byrne Is The EFFING MAN!

  • @shootmyrunner i concur, that dance goes down in history....in my history book any way.

  • the great david!!

  • Hypnotic and tear inducing masterclass of music.

  • The Master "Neard".....

  • David = Amazing

  • Very nice. I wish he would do a reunion tour. Just once.

  • @iampower714

Heck of a great idea! :-D

    I'd go, you'd go...

So David Byrne if you read this - we're already two and more to come for sure - consider a reunion tour and don't miss out on the smaller countries if you do so, please! :-)

I'd LOVE to hear this song and this voice in exactly that version, just live!

  • Love this song - love David's hair; never for money, always for love. xxx

  • Love this song - love David's hair; never for money, always for love. xxx

  • its got to be my most played song on u tube def top 10 of all time

  • Tom and Jada wish you the best. This song is the beginning.

  • HEY ITS THE GORILLAZ BEFORE THE GORILLAZ

  • @INTENTIONPEACE2

Yeah, it's funny how sometimes people talk about Damon Albarn as though he was the first ever popular musician to delve into "world music" (horrible umbrella term) with Brian Jones and most incredibly David Byrne doing it earlier. Gorillaz, great music. This, however, is otherworldly.

  • @bobby58585 what does he mean gorillaz befor the gorillaz?

  • @Michael2987

The way I read it, was referring to Damon Albarn's experimentation and grabbing music of lots of different styles and origins to make his. But hey, that's a lot to read from that sentance.

  • @Michael2987, the way I read it he was talking about the experimentation and grabbing of music from different styles and genres that Damon Albarn, of the Gorillaz uses to create his music

  • this is uplifting, breathtaking and soothing at the same time, thx uploader, thx mr byrne, geniouses like yourself will live forever

  • @righi187

perfect choices for the Wall Street soundtrack. . . . .got me drifting back. . . David Byrne is the coolest

  • brilliant .... just brilliant .... saw talking heads at sweetwaters festival 1982 ... still one of my fav gigs

  • this is amazing

  • B-E-A-UTIFUL!

    ABSOLUTELY marvelous!

  • if there's a reward for plagiarism, then i swear to god i wrote this awesome fucking song

  • Apart from his hair he looks exactly like he did on The Old Grey Whistle Test is 1978 with Psyco Killer, which is one of the best performances I've ever seen of any group. Something I observe time and again when money is injected creative takes a back seat to accomodate more people more and when that happens the magic is lost. An orchestra isn't necessary to make good music just watch Talking Heads (4 people) peform Psyco Killer on The Wistle Test.

  • Nice golf shoes.

I've seen Mr Byrne live several times and actually met him after one of the shows at the Playhouse in Edinburgh total gent and what a performance he gives. Just wish Talking Heads could sort out their differences and tour again! (I know it won't happen and why. Just saying)

  • This is awesome.

  • @RedxRainbow Is she/he Scottish?

  • make it up as we go along!!-luv it

  • David Byrne is a god
