Glee is like canned ham. Over processed, factory made, and nothing original about it. Fame had plenty of REAL talent. Lee Curreri is a talented real life piano player. Debbi Allen, a REAL choreographer. Albert Hague, he was a REAL composer of music and composed "You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch". Glee has.......Uncle Jesse from Full House. Glee has.......Autotne. Glee's rendition of Rocky Horror......Abomination! Why does America allow this lips and a-hole of a show called Glee to survive?
@eagle00008@eagle00008 - Actually it is not true that all of the teachers in the series passed away. There were 6 or 7 main teacher characters on the show over the years, and only two of them are dead ("Mr. Shorokfsy" and "Mrs. Berg".). All the others are alive, including the actresses who played the 2 main teachers ("Lydia Grant" and "Miss Sherwood").
And many of the cast have had successful careers -- not all are famous, but some of them work regularly.
@JNDeFilippis - I stand corrected! ;o) i have to say that both Debbie Allen and Carol Jenkins were recently shown on French TV as having passed away!!
Miss Sherwood actually has a profile on Facebook!! ;o)
LeRoy Johnson passed away (source International Movie Database)
can I go back to my teenaged years one more time I wanted to go a school like this when I was in the 9th grade in 1981 the first two seasons were classic before they went to syndication
Actually the theme song was sung by Erica Gimpel and she replaced Irene Cara who potrayed Coco in the movie....in my humble opinion, Gimpel made the character more lush!! Anyway, Gimpel has had quite a successfu; carerer and still pops up on tv looking not a day older than 25...what's her secret? Irene Cara has also had a successful recording and acting career, but has been off the radar for several years. It would be great to get these two "Coco's" in a tv or in a film project together soon :)
@somewhatlongdong Not really, the actors in 'Glee' are rubbish dancers (except Harry Shum Jr. - he can't sing though). There was a similar show to 'Fame' in the UK called 'Britannia High' but it got axed just after the first series.
Whatever happened to all these actors? The only way I've heard of since this show is Debbie Allen, who seems to keep very busy as a choreographer; and Lori Singer, who was in Footloose, but not much since. How could these kids have so much talent and just disappear? Or have they?
@kookoo78 Actually they're not famous but most of them have worked regularly and seriously in that business that is saying a LOT. That guy who played Bruno produces and composes music for tv shows and movies evidently he's pretty well know for it. And the one that played Cocoa has done a lot of tv ER, Dangerous Minds etc. and she has a band. Over all most of the people from the main cast have done okay.
@Chicagoan444 - the actor that played "Leroy" - Gene Anthony Ray, died of Aids 8 years ago..."Mr. Sorofsky" (Albert Hague) also died 10 years ago, at age 81. The rest are still active, more or less.
I loved this show when I was little. Leroy and Bruno were my fav characters. I Always liked the intro theme song and since the new movie is coming out, and, which btw hope it doesn't stink even if Debbie Allen is in it, every time there is promo I start to sing "remember, remember, remember.... FAME!" My lil' sis doesn't know about the original show. So I had to explain it to her.
Ohhh man the memories this brings. I used to sit down and watch this show before heading off to school. The theme ALWAYS rocked and it's like you've heard it for the first time. Anyway this brings some incredible memories. I also enjoyed the series even if I'm not a dancer or interested in that. It still rocked and it still does. thanks for uploading this. much appriciated!
I didn't watch this show but my baby sis did, she loved it. I bought her a Fame leotard & she told me years later she wear it under her clothes at school & brag to her friends that her big sis in CA bought it for her! lol, Then she said she'd go in our parents basement, run & dance around like she was on the show, great memories!!!
LOVED this show, I mean who doesnt wanna burst into song and dance at random in the school cafeteria. I was so sad to learn that Leroy (Gene) died. He was amazing and the first black man I ever loved! I even named one of my weeble people after him when I was a little :(
I was a friend of Gene (leroy) and when he passed away, I went home and saw this on TV and boy did I know how much he made it to where he had to go. He lived in France the last years of his life, and thank you for this video, wow.
i like how all of the actors in fame are not famous.

If it wasn't for this show there wouldn't be a gay ass rip off such ass GLEE.
bluricane 10 months ago
@bluricane well put!
most actors are hybrids between Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, woody Allen and sort of gay pride manifesto!!
beside the teachers, the actors seem to have been cast as "has beens" of American Idol!
some covers are great though, beside the irritating Celine Dion syndrome!
Damn that fucking affirmative action dispite of common sense that's to say talent!!!
i have to admit that i watch it for some of the covers ans the two teachers: nobody is perfect!!

I forgot about the series until I noticed a cable channel OVATION TV has reruns of the shows.

Only Erica Gimpel did something with herself as for TV shows and still does!
Irene Cara was a fraud in the movie! her wreck as for her follow-up career in the biz tends to prove it!
Lori Singer popped up in miscredited and much too soon aborted "VR5" TV series
Herself and most of her composing/teaching or playing companions did have long-lasting careers off screen!
All the teachers in the series passed away.... RIP!!
