@dejavubriards You are so right! This is my very favorite purebred dog, but you rarely see them and they are VERY expensive, as I'm sure you know. I've seen a few at AKC Dog Shows, but rarely anyplace else. So you're positively right, dejavubriards. Norman represents the Briard well!

Norman is a Berger de Brie, commonly known as a Briard. It is an old breed from the Brie area of France (famous for cheese). A surviving tapestry from the 8th century features a dog looking like a Briard, so it is thought that Charlemagne may have been a royal owner. Norman is doing a cute trick in this video, but the dog was bred to be a perimeter sheep dog, protecting flocks from thieves and predators. I have owned two of these dogs over the years - great dogs.
