The woman spat on the officers face while resisting arrest. This is assault and battery on a police officer—a felony in many places, punishable by 10 years in prison. I’m not a police officer but if you ask any officer, this is the worst type of assault. Potentially deadly communicable diseases like HIV and hepatitis can be spread though this type of contact—especially if it goes into the officer’s eyes, mount, nose, etc.

It also should be acknowledged that a lot of vagrants have prior history with law enforcement that I'm sure these officers were well aware of. If she was given the opportunity of a civil arrest and that opportunity was not taken, it is lawful that physical force be used. Where is the abuse of power there? My friend uploaded this video onto her FB page and apparently she has been a threat to local businesses in the area she frequents by harassing and assaulting patrons and employees. My friend being one of those victims of harassment. It really bothers me that everyone is quick to denounce the officers (based on this one-sided video) who were protecting other people from possibly falling victim to this hostile woman.
