i love the part when magnus says: "don't be ridiculous", after his dad proposes turning his bedroom into a surgery room; great role reversal there. it's actually something you'd expect the parents to tell their son. instead, you're confronted with this small boy who actually makes his parents seem juvenile. watching this, i actually never thought 'what is this kid thinking?' , but rather 'his parents don't know what they're talking about'.

i unfortunately didnt and so i thought that the cliche way they presented that scene was absolutely intentional. i just set the cliche in cliche a bit differently than you, defining the returning of the kid to the parents as cliche and not the kid's denial. btw i really dont think the acting was superficial in that scene..well i hope you understand what i'm trying to say!!
