I'm going for swcc in about two years. I've started my training last year. I want to be ready when the time comes also I just got orders to a riverine squadron in little creek va. These orders should help me out alot by preparing me for it because riverines also work with small craft boats.
im about to enlist anybody have any advise on training for swcc, anything to talk to the recruiters about, what to do and not to do? any advice is appriciated thanks
We just called them 'boat crews' when I was in. They ain't SEALs, but still pretty damned tough. And they get their pix taken for the 'cruise book', unlike SEALs who were 'never onboard in the first place'. (wink-wink)
Whatever happened to the dark blue cigarette boats they used in the early 90's?
great video man I am planning on joining the navy in 6 or 7 months due to a GED in high school. . . I have been watching SWCC (Swick) videos for a month now and this is intense such an adrenaline rush. . . props
@Lootraevefan Yes and no. Swicks go through a similar pipeline, their training is mainly focused on operating the three types of crafts. Still, they are cross trained in CQB, small unit tactics and demo, MFF - just like the SEAL Teams. Its done in case a SEAL platon need more shooters, then boat guys step in and they need (and ARE) to be just as effective as Frogs are.
Yes. You need to also want to be in the Navy. If you want to go in to do all of the "cool guy" stuff then you will fail. Firstly, join the Navy and then work your ass off and stay dedicated to become a SWCC. Don't quit and you'll make it..
@ILLogicalScripts1 You can sign for SWCC upon contract. You don't really have to work up to it..However if you don't make it,they'll throw your ass somewhere else.Like ship mechanic or something.
In the past officers in the Special Boat Teams were SEALs. Now they still have SEAL O's but also they homegrow some of their O's from enlisted SWCCs to Warrant Officers.
The lead paramedics at the Boat Teams were also SEALs, with all their SWCC crewmates trained as medic assistants (basically EMT-B + IV Therapy and some emergency meds). Now SWCCs can become NSW combat medics along with SEALs and be the lead medic for a MKV det etc.
My best fried failed out of SWCC training... Now were both in the HM program, he says it was the most INTENSE thing he has ever been put through... YOU GUYS ROCK!
Juki009, i agree with u but your forgetting that if a bad guy and some buddys with there lil AKs fire at u they get a grenade luancher, two 50s and two mini guns blasting at them. they wont stay there to try and shoot at them...i think
Question about the boat design. I noticed that the crew are exposed to on coming fire. One sweep by a enemy MG would hit all on aboard. How they go around that? Since they seem to be always heading in to harms way
i was SWCC for 3 years i can tell you this, if you have a low asvab score dont even bother, if you have trouble running a minimum distance of 10 miles, dont bother, if you have trouble with swimming or a fear of anything, dont bother.
While surfing the web I ran across SWCC.One of the themes that runs through what I read is,very few people know about them. Some things nevr change. After 40 years, many people still have never heard of PBR's in Viet Nam.I did two tours as ''river rat''.If I were to be called up,I would want to be in SWCC.Even with the horrows of war,I still love the ''boats''.I am sure the brotherhood of SWCC is as strong as what we had in Nam and stil do.
just as fit as SEALS, their training is just as tough physically, and a little more demanding on the intelligence side. They are authorized to fight along side SEALS and other SF Operators so yeah, a physical superstar.

I am sure these guys are well aware of the dangers they would face, hence they decided to keep the SOC-R open.

juki009 3 years ago
Speed, violence of action, surprise and a lot of heavy MG rounds pointed at the enemy.
MH6M 3 years ago
Makes sense but only one MG in a concealed position, unseen and has an opportunity can waste the entire crew.
Disclaimer...
I probably dont know what I am talking about haha

rails10 3 years ago
The ASVAB is broken down into several categories. To be eligible for SWCC School, your minimum requirements are:
SWCC - AR+WK=104, MC=50 (For ASVAB 5, 6, and 7; use WK score)(For ASVAB 8, 9, and 10; use VE score).
FABULOUS4343 3 years ago
its a job that you have to earn not a freakin score on the asvab
spicher18 3 years ago
To earn it you need to get a good score on the asvab. The military doesn't like dumb people doing spec ops stuff, for obvious reasons
