@cianolfc4lyf obviously you have never heard most of Christy's early stuff, this is him. you should listen to his early stuff some of it is very good.
@ninjawageslave You do realise that he is singing about the old IRA, who were much more noble than the Provisional IRA. I can tell this as he talks about the Black n Tans.
I know how the Irish must feel. I'm from Germany and our country was nearly 40 devited. I was in Ireland in march, also in the north of Ireland (I say north of Ireland because Northern Ireland is British...but it isn't!!!) and the only thing I have to say is: GET YOUR ASS OUT OF IRELAND TOMMYS!!! Thanks to the passing of the Lisbon Treaty, it doesn't matter anymore. It's official. Our ancestors died in vain. Foreign rule is back and with the consent of the people.
You're an idiot. EU parliamentary rule is mandated by democratically elected represented individuals from each member state. If you don't want a powerful EU in an era of newly emerging superstates then you can bitch about the Lisbon Treaty.
Why is it that cunts like you need to start name calling? I mean, are you such a brain dead shit bag, that you can't simply state your point? Still, it's very gracious of you to allow me to bitch about the Lisbon treaty, you pompous twit, you.
As obvious as it is who Herman Von Rumpuy is? Centralized power in Europe. People like Napoleon, Hitler, and the British monarchy have wanted this for centuries. Get to licking your new rulers boots, quisling. Great thing being part of a "super state" isn't it?
Yeah, I just commented on a vid produced by an Irishman which rattles on about "immigrants" & "they're taking Irish jobs". He has a vid of a song about James Connolly 1st on his homepage ffs!
You couldn't make it up. Connolly has been hijacked by green Tories as a hero. He would have had nothing to do with them.
Socialism was off the map when McKee, Kelly, O'Connell took the provos after the split
The dream of irish workers joining in the fight is over (im sad to say)No1barney because of al the secterianism involved. And lets face it,todays generation on both sides of the divide are only interested in gang wars, drugs etc ,mostly wee neds who havnt got a clue.Walking about wi theyr gold chains etc...Not all of them but a LARGE amount. This generation has failed the cause because they dont give a shit....God Help The republic.

@No1barney1 a socialist republic is what the working class irish need and the only way we are going to get it is through the bullet and the bomb. dont give up th fight, up the reals and the cira!

@BestLoyalistMusic10 How can you come out wit a statement that N.I truly belongs to britain? Fuck off over to britain if you're not proud t b Irish, u don't hear english or scots saying how they love being brits, all loyalists are traitors by nature and the descendants of inbred parasites
Just as in 1920 SF have been tricked by the Brits. There will be no peace in Ireland, not as long as MI5 governs Ulster. There are no 'dissidents': this is a phony label, just as 'insurgents' is in Iraq and Afghanistan. There are psychopathic colonialists and the masses of people of conscience they oppress. Nothing changes.
we shouldnt support these dissidents, who call themselves "protecters", these dissidents wont get anywhere near as big as the provisional arms struggle which lasted round about 30 years..... during these past few years through a political stuggle, SF and the irish people have got closer to a 32 all Ireland than the 30 years of arms struggle.......
Dissidents are tryin to bring about an arms struggle again, and no body wants see anyone else in they're family dead!
the provos broke away from the sticks so does that make them "dissidents"? SF administer british rule in ireland, they work for the english government. there is no chance of unifying ireland through stormont
When has he said that? I have nothing but respect for Christy!
How many other artists stood up and highlighted what was happening to their fellow Irish people like he did??
Bono an his like are quick to defend anyone being persecuted on the other side of the world but when it was happening in his own back yard he didnt say a thing.
I heard a recent radio interview Christy did for the BBC in which he said he still sings songs about the hunger strikers and other rebel songs
If yous won the so called war pira/cira and every other ira there is how come N.I is still british? You have to ask are Gerry and Martin happy with what they've got? They seem so they are happy. They keep telling yous not to go back to the old days i wonder why.
There was three main aims to the violence in the IRA campaign of 68-98. 1) Human rights for the catholics of NI; 2) Bringing the Brits to the baragaining table; 3) Making the brits allow the Republic of ireland to have a say in the running of the north. All three aims have been accomplished, we can now establish freesom through peaceful means. You're either misinformed or ignorant of the history of NI.
all my mates i live with and work with are from Newry and Cross.. there is no Northern Ireland as far as they are concerened. I asked my mate, from Tyrone.. when northern ireland are playing, do you support them.. he gave me the perfect answer.. why would i support a country i dont recognise?
@Frankieireland Your wrong , the human rights was going to happen anyway threw peaceful means , 2 the british goverment had to come to the baragain table when people are getting murdered left right and centre and the republic dont have a say in how northern ireland is run
so basiclly the ira campaign was a campaign built around murdering protestants and catholics alike and wanting a united ireland for only catholic republicans
@Frankieireland You Free State wanker. Is that why there are groups fighting on? Was the intention not to get rid of the Free State and Northern Ireland and replace it with the Republic? To suggest what you have suggested is offensive and a slap in the face of every IRA volunteer who died loyal to the Republic.
I dont think this is christy, ive everything hes ever done and every book written on him, hes never mentioned this song anywhere and yous know what hes like for name droppin songs and where he got them from or when he first heard or sung them. ive seen him live dozens of times over 30 odd years and...... i stand to be corrected boys but it does not sound like him im afraid. anyone care to elaborate......
See above comment... The Album is Paddy on the Road and it was his first album in 1969. Go to Christy's official website and you can hear for yourself, albeit not Belfast Brigade... but you will hear the same voice...a bit of Googling you'll find the proof you need.
THIS IS CHRISTY MOORE lol. 150% I Never thought he recorded this lol. Ireland1, where did yo uget this Gold? lol. Thank you for Uploading. And for you Non Believers, It is christy moore lol. Any through Fan, can easily tell!
Not sure where I got it tbh, but I have the whole album... which is weird cos I have no idea where it came from! I must admit, I was a bit suspicious when I first heard it, but after playing it a few times you can tell it is definately him.
That is indeed Christy, albeit 40 years ago. This song is from his very limited (I think it was 500 co.) debut album "Paddy on the Road" from 1969. He was still litte more than a lad back then (24 years or so), so no wonder his voice has changed over the years.
to say that he turned his back on rebel songs is wrong..... certain songs dont need to be sung anymore especially by a man who is so looked up to and respected... well not that they shudnt be sung anymore because that would be forgetting our past and our strong history but i just think there is a time and a place for certain songs
LOL I agree. This is from one of his early albums, maybe his first. He does sound very young and his voice (and music) has definately got better over the years.

It's on his site in writing too

Not sure where I got it tbh, but I have the whole album... which is weird cos I have no idea where it came from! I must admit, I was a bit suspicious when I first heard it, but after playing it a few times you can tell it is definately him.

That is indeed Christy, albeit 40 years ago. This song is from his very limited (I think it was 500 co.) debut album "Paddy on the Road" from 1969. He was still litte more than a lad back then (24 years or so), so no wonder his voice has changed over the years.

bring back the rebel tunes christy!
lewis1916 4 years ago
to say that he turned his back on rebel songs is wrong..... certain songs dont need to be sung anymore especially by a man who is so looked up to and respected... well not that they shudnt be sung anymore because that would be forgetting our past and our strong history but i just think there is a time and a place for certain songs
langerwaa 4 years ago
LOL I agree. This is from one of his early albums, maybe his first. He does sound very young and his voice (and music) has definately got better over the years.
lreland1 4 years ago
Was recorded in the 1970's same album as "My Grannys dustbin lid"
