I've looked at both and see that both are very good in their own respective ways. in the manga, you get to see the point of view of many characters and their intermost thoughts and we learn more about eichi. however, this anime has led me to cry every single time pretty much after the last 5 episodes. the manga never made me cry. so, in my perspective, both are just equally awesome
