  • Another old automobile song about "auto eroticism" is "Please don't take advantage of my good nature" .Check out the last line !

  • Getting road head would be very dangerous back then with all the bumpy dirt roads and the cars early suspension system! You might've even lost your willy if you drove over a decent size rock or small log in the road! True pioneers though.

  • This is similar -in design- to the one-sided disk I have: Honey Lou pressed by "Victor Records". I try to find dates for my collection.

Please do not block me !!

  • They try to put the car horns in the song; why don't we hear that nowadays?

  • Now THIS is music!!

  • "You can go as far as you like, with me..." very sweet and naughty lyrics.

  • Oops, sorry, didn't even notice I'd already posted my info about the date a while back. Didn't mean to be redundant.

  • Actually, this was a hit in the fall of 1905. Source: Joel Whitburn's "Pop Memories". Thanks for posting, the record's in good shape too.

  • What a sounds, what a voices.... nice times!

  • Actually, this was a hit in 1905! The record label (4467) matches with the one given for the 1905 version. Thanks for posting.

  • Classic! I love this in Looney Tunes!!

  • When I am an old man this might as well be 170 years old. That will be like hearing today something from 1841. Funny thing time.

  • So in 1909 they already used the phrase "go for a spin"... interesting

  • you're playing it too fast, cut the speed to about 65 rpm and you will get a much more realistic sound. this is a very common problem with these old recordings

  • Your recording date is incorrect. This recording was made on January 19, 1906. Note that looking at the label on the record surface at the 9 o'clock position is the number 4. Take 4 is from 1906. Take 6 is from 1909!

  • @digitalmetadata1 I'm surprised this isn't in the Library Of Congress VICTOR site which virutally every major acoustic disc from 1900-1924

  • @digitalmetadata1 yes, just looked it up. And the 1909 take 6 couldn't appear on a GP label. The 1905 take 1 is also probably pretty rare.

  • The record player pictured is a British made GARRARD record changer circa late 1950's-early 1960's. I had one.....don't know if they're still in business. Good equipment.

  • I have a copy of this that was made for gm personally.

  • I love this song, mostly for its use in the Warner Bros. cartoons!

  • The 1901-1907 one-cylinder "curved dash" Oldsmobile was one of the most popular horseless carriages of it's day. Sitting high on bicycle wheels, with a front that curved up and back toward the single seat for two, it was reliable, affordable, and downright cute! The one-cylinder engine was under the seat and was crank-started from the driver's side; steering was by a tiller. The first Olds hit the road in 1897 and became part of GM in 1908. GM retired the brand in 2004.

  • Recorded on February 1, 1909. The Oldsmobile division of General Motors, however, was disbanded years ago.

  • This has amazing sound for a record over a century old. What kind of record player is that? Is it still sold today?

  • It's no wonder why guys get chicks with their rides. It started over 100 years ago!

  • Yes, exactly. Oldsmobile always set the pace throughout their history, and they were of course first in that field, too.

  • Written in 1905 by Vincent Bryan, music by Gus Edwards.

  • WOW..IT IS QUIT...GOOD THE SONG. tHIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HEARD IT.

  • Very racy lyrics for 1909!

  • How so?

  • " They love to spark in the dark old park, as they go flying along/

She says she knows why his motor goes; his sparkers awfully strong"

  • Cool!
