Put a fish statue with a jellyfish statue beside it and a wall on the other side. When the fish spawn they will flounder about and eventually hit the jellyfish, and bam! Instant goldfish! No need for water candles or battle potions

Why is the mushroom farm irregular? I looked but couldn't see any shapes into it.

To people looking to build this: Remember to block (downwards) vine growth by placing a row of wooden platforms directly below the grass. It will not hinder your movement as solid blocks would.

@eilstrider yeah it works aswell :) I didn't want to deal with corrupted fishes, so I went for a ditch deep enough to spawn goldfish and for slimes to kill them automatic

@Melyna1864 lava is to kill monsters, since there can only be a set number of monsters on screen they need to die or move of the screen in order to spawn new ones. So by placing lava I kill monsters that are stopping new ones (like goldfish) to spawn. Monster = npc
