you aint missing anything, the sound of cars is horrible in this game. specially with classics like the shelby. they even use for some cars identical engine sounds.

thats the only point i dont like on TDU and the randome lanechanges from the NPCs that makes the 200 miles run a pain in the ass (the one with 1m cash) . i love this game to cruise arround however, hope the 2nd will have improvements not only in graphics

dude if anything its better at certain points than the 8600. ive compared several times with a friend of mine who has the 8600 gts. i can currently run assassins creed 1 and 2 maxed out @ 720P and crysis and just cause 2 on medium-high

Its the speed at which the cores are running at is which makes a dual core faster than a quad core sometimes. A top of the range dual core running at 4.0 GHz would be a lot faster than a quad core running at 2.4 Ghz...

Quad core means 4 cores, the high end quad cores like the i7's have 4 cores but have 8 threads which split up each core into 2 to take off the load of all of the core, meaning it can do more multi - tasking...

I live in a house and I can't afford a pc...but it would be smarter to buy RAM instead of a whole new computer. And an entire computer isn't because of it being slow...it's probably RAM or hard drive space.
