I made a similar kind of set-up by drilling a big hole in my desk, screwing two power supply fans to the underside (I drilled the hole beneath the laptop's main air intake) and rigging it up to an old phone power supply. With a ghetto duct-tape and wire switch, I can drop my laptop's running temperature by up to 30 degrees Celsius. Home-made productions rock!
I need to know what wires are for what on my power supply i'am going to use for a project like this one. My supply is labeled for what wires are for that come out but i need to know which wire to connect to turn ON and OFF the supply.
i made one of these...different design and its not hooked up to a power supply...wired it to a 12v addapter.....these things are real easy to make people, and they are cheap to make but vary strong.
yr my inspiration. I'm building one like this but a little different. for my dell XPS m1730 :D (its a little toasty). ill post a video response when I'm done. should be a couple of days.
@robbiexps Haha I was just messin with you man. I was reading comments and you said you would post a video responce with the fan you built in a couple of days 10 months ago. How did the fan go by the way? I have the 1530 and am currently getting a custom fan built.
Wow. I agree. Can you say ghetto. lol. no, really, I give you an A+ for creativity. I really do. The power supply to power the fan kills me. But if it works, it works. 5 Stars...
Thats sweet. Whatever you have to do and if you have all the spare parts lying around then why not. This gave me a good idea since I have an old desktop lying around somewhere. I think I'll do something like that considering that you don't even really need it that high...could make like a very thin extension all the way under the laptop with tons of holes. Sort of like a air hockey table. Thanks for the vid.
wow doode that freaken awesome. I have a targus cooler, but its only good for my gateway because it emmits little heat. Im going to try and build one of these monsters for my toshiba sat.
what a noice, use 1 fan, bigger, and put it on low rotation speed, no noice

how much power can you get from a usb port before it blows?
nUaSvAy 2 years ago
with a fan you cant blow it. but the more fans you add the slower they will go.
