Perhaps the biggest wrong predictions was the one of these was the famous statement hat Tibet would be free by the year 2000. How devastating for all Tibetans, of whom probably most believed that the news came directly from His Holiness clairvoyant mind.
So why do they still ask Nechung's advice when it comes to making hige decisions about the people and their cause?
Thousands of practitioners have been propitiating Dorje Shugden for the past 350 years throughout all the great Tibetan Buddhist monasteries. How can they all be wrong? It is impossible.
I have met some of these DS practitioners, n they always just teach dharma, lamrim, kindness, guru devotion. How can this be a bad thing? We shud use our own observation, gather knowledge of this issue before jumping to any conclusions.

Whats the difference between Nechung and Dorje Shugden. Nechung has a history of giving wrong advice, even to the extent of shortening the life of one of the Dalai Lama's incarnations. More on this at dorje shugden (dot) com.
@wangchub What's also strange is that Nechung was in fact the one who encouraged dorje Shugden to arise as a dharma protector. And now, apparently, he is discouraging this practice? Why so blatantly contrary? There are many contradictions to this issue which make it very hard to understand.
Either that or this is deliberate... that by controversy, dalai Lama and the buddhas are making DS actually grow in the world

You guessed it! not Nechung BUT Dorje Shugden. Not a well know fact
DharmaDefender - yes - i fully agree with you. How can we call ourselves Buddhists if we deny anyone basic food and medical help? People would not deny a mass murderer food or medical help but some 'Buddhists' would deny Shugdenpas these basic needs! And their reason being? Stopping Tibet from independence (er.. the Dalai Lama stopped calling for independence decades ago) and threatening the Dalai Lama's life (er...he's er.. 75 and going strong..). Illogical.
This generosity by HH Penor Rinpoche really shows that DS does not practice schism or sectarianism. If so, surely a Nyingma Lama of his stature would not have supported DS practitioners. Read more about this here dorjeshugden-dot-com (/)wp/?p=2874
A piece of good news amongst this bleak topic.. HH Penor Rinpoche (who has since passed into parinirvana in 2009) showed great kindness to Tibetan DS practitioners who were ostracised by those who supported the ban. DS practitioners were practically excommunicated and not allowed into shops to buy basic groceries or get medical assistance. When HH Penor Rinpoche heard this, he immediately opened his monastery (Namdroling) to DS followers (who were Gelugpa).
@wisdombeing That is good news, thank you for sharing. I think it's a bit silly to ostracise people for their practice, and make it difficult for them to survive. Aren't all Tibetans in the same situation, living in India in relative poverty and without a homeland? Why make it worse for one another by denying food and medical assistance? There's no compassion in that. Thank you so much for sharing about Penor Rinpoche...a 'simple' gesture like that will mean so much to the monks.
China and the Shugden group in Delhi make this a big issue. Tibetans have no problem with the "ban" The dispute over DS is very old. DS followers are few. Most of them live in Delhi, not Dharamsala.
It became a problem when China sent Shugden monks to India to destabilize the Tibetan community.
Some of these monks are portrayed as "victims" in tashidelek17s propaganda videos . The Shugden groups and China work together to undermine the Dalai Lama.
I understand why DS is so controversial among Gelugpas.
The Shugden cult has become a "hybrid", it´s like "shamanism" in Buddhist disguise.
The propitiation of "protectors"or spirits is a non-Buddhist, but accepted, element in T.B. The protectors were "subdued" by Guru Rinpoche a long time ago. It´s not a threat to Buddhism, just an additional practice, not the main focus. But taking refuge in a highly disputed protector is non-Buddhist.
@Varavaken the fact is that this "dispute" has arisen only in recent times. For 350 years, many thousands of monks and even lay practitioners worshipped Dorje Shugden peacefully, without any conflict. Even Sakya practitioners propitiated him profoundly.
So is that to saying that all those elite, highly attained masters - Including the dalai lama himself - were "Non Buddhist?" I don't think so many of these high lamas could have ALL been wrong!
That's so contradictory. How can a great Gelug master like Pabongkha Rinpoche, who wrote one of the most celebrated commentaries on the Lam Rim, make a mistake over a spirit??? How can great Gelug masters like Trijang Rinpoche and Zong Rinpoche make such a mistake? How can Dromo Geshe Rinpoche, recognised by the Thirteenth Dalai Lama as "Lama Tsong Khapa himself", make a mistake???
Given the Thirteenth Dalai Lama was anti-DS, for him to say that such a strong DS practitioner like Dromo Geshe Rinpoche is Lama Tsongkhapa himself, should make you think about the nature of Dorje Shugden. How can Lama Tsongkhapa himself make a mistake about spirit worship? All these inconsistencies coming from anti-DS lamas should make you contemplate deeper about the nature of the ban, and about Dorje Shugden's nature.
Just look at Lama Zopa - FPMT are strongly against Dorje Shugden. However, (and this is on the FPMT websites themselves) Lama Zopa is always encouraging people to mend their broken guru samaya, even with DS lamas like Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
If DS was so bad and his practice was spirit worship, why would Lama Zopa encourage people to mend their samaya with spirit worshippers? Maybe it's because Dorje Shugden isn't actually a spirit...
The reason why the Dalai Lama doesn´t give Tantric initiation to DS followers is that they don´t have a "pure Buddhist refuge". It can rebound on the health and life of the Tantric master.
I´ve seen your comments on Phayul Message Forum, you and your Shugden/China-promoters. You´re spreading your filthy propaganda all over internet.
WITH MONEY FROM CHINA YOU´RE PERVERTING THE DHARMA.
"Commie trolls" playacting as dharma-people.
Undermine the Dalai Lama, destroy Tibetan Buddhism - that´s your BIGGER purpose. Watch out for these deceivers and China -promoters everybody! Don´t fall for their propaganda.
I'm glad you're on forums{DOT}phayul{DOT}com too, please post there to encourage discussions. Please post on forums like dorjeshugden{DOT}com to encourage discussions. I'm not receiving money from China actually but no matter what I say, you won't believe me because you have already formed an idea in your mind about what I'm like.
It's the same for Dorje Shugden, which is why I'm not here to convert you but to present an alternative view so people who read YouTube comments can see two sides of the issue, and not be swayed by wrong view.
The only people undermining the Dalai Lama is people like yourself and moose from the Phayul forums. By not presenting any evidence whatsoever on how Dorje Shugden is a spirit, and always resorting to personal insults, your comments do not reflect His Holiness' teachings on compassion.
@DharmaDefender Hey I think it's very important to offer different points of views of the situation. This isn't about arguing, fighting or attacking anyone but about presenting different ways to look at what is obviously a very difficult situation.
I do also encourage reading up for yourself on websites, and participating in forums to gain a broader view of what's going on and to come to your own informed, logical conclusion.
@TheRedNiece Yes of course but those POVs, when they aren't backed up by info, becomes baseless attacks. It's why you always see people reverting to the same argument over Dorje Shugden...that he is a spirit, that because the Dalai Lama says DS is bad therefore it is true, that anyone who says otherwise is a Chinese spy / against Tibetan independence.
So yes, reading up is necessary but I think unless other people know there are other views out there, they won't know where to start looking!
Of course Tibetans and Chinese need democracy! But let's start with the Tibetans, since it has oft been repeated that Dorje Shugden is a Tibetan issue - why is the Dalai Lama banning Dorje Shugden's practice? Isn't democracy when people vote BEFORE a ban? Isn't democracy when people have freedom to worship without being ostracised and discriminated against for their beliefs? Isn't democracy upholding the Tibetan and Indian constitutions, AND the Universal Declaration of Human Rights?
Besides, why not ask Nechung? If he is oath-bound to protect the dharma (I have no doubt that Padmasambhava successfully and completely subdued Pehar), then why isn't Nechung capable of giving advice? Both are dharma protectors, both work towards the same goal. Plus, HHDL can't ask advice from Dorje Shugden when he's banned him :P
No, DharmaDefender, Shugden and Nechung are NOT working towards the same goal. And that you KNOW.
How on earth are you thinking?
Forget Tibetan Buddhism.
The present Panchen Lama is one of the vice presidents of Buddhist Association of China. He has promised to UPHOLD THE LEADERSHIP OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CHINA.
You attack the Dalai Lama. You defend China. Not the same thing. Different mentality. If you were a Buddhist, you would understand the difference.
Again, I suggest you reread my posts. Of course I take refuge in Dorje Shugden. Why shouldn't I? As an enlightened being, he is an appropriate object to take refuge in. 'Shug' means might/power, and 'den' means 'irreversible'. The only being that has irreversible power is a Buddha, because once you're enlightened, you're enlightened...you can't be unenlightened!
No, not all Dorje Shugden devotees take refuge in him, but many many practitioners do. Trijang Rinpoche, Zong Rinpoche, Dagom Rinpoche, Gangchen Rinpoche, Pabongkha Rinpoche, they all either did or explained that DS can be an appropriate person to take refuge in. I trust them because their actions show results - Pabongkha Rinpoche continues to benefit others with his books, for example, and Gangchen Rinpoche continues to benefit others with his healing.
I suggest you reread my posts, because I've never once attacked the Dalai Lama nor said a negative thing about him. Whatever I have said, I have always quantified with his motivation. There is a ban, that is negative but it is quantified by his motivation which is to spread Dorje Shugden...because from what I can see, the ban caused Dorje Shugden's name to go out on the media everywhere.
And why shouldn't I defend China, when their people are just as deserving towards happiness as everyone else? Just because the Chinese government did awful things to the Tibetans, does not mean the Chinese people do not deserve to experience less suffering. Likewise, the Tibetan government is currently doing awful things to their own people by implementing the ban, and ostracising people but I don't think the TGIE are any less deserving of happiness.
If you were Buddhist, you'd understand that instead of attacking Dorje Shugden practitioners as you do, you should perhaps have compassion for them. If you believe DS to be a spirit (which he is not), and his practice to be evil (which it is not), then why not have compassion for the practitioners instead of hate them and ostracise them? THAT is the Buddhist way. Compassion is the way HHDL himself teaches actually. Perhaps you should read the article 'Contemplate this' on dorjeshugden{DOT}com.
I'm not going to respond to your China comments again because I've repeated again and again that I've protested against China in the past so I am well aware, probably more so than you, of their actions.
I am also well aware of the human rights violations of this ban, because freedom to practise religion is guaranteed by the Tibetan AND Indian constitutions, AND the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, all of which are being violated by the ban.
Are you referring to this quote: "None of the material AI has received contains evidence of abuses which fall within AI's mandate for action such as grave violations of fundamental human rights including torture, the death penalty, extra-judicial executions, arbitrary detention or imprisonment, or unfair trials". Not, "None of the material AI has received contains evidence of abuses"?
Of course not - how could the Dalai Lama sanction torture, capital punishment, etc?
Don't forget the part of their statement that says "while recognizing that a spiritual debate can be contentious, [we] cannot become involved in debate on spiritual issues."
They're effectively absolving themselves on making any judgement of the matter, because Dorje Shugden is a purely spiritual matter and Amnesty International can recognise this.
Remember - due to unfortunate circumstances, Tibetans are a guest of India so they should abide by Indian law, and allow Dorje Shugden practitioners to practise their traditions without discrimination.
No, DS practitioners have not made their choice because the WSS DO NOT speak on behalf of all DS practitioners. I prefer websites like dorjeshugden{DOT}com which promote a more moderate, compassionate view that leads to greater harmony because respect between both 'sides' is encouraged.
In fact, there is no difference between the two sides, because one enlightened Beings teachings do not differ from the next. Dorje Shugden teaches compassion, Dalai Lama teaches compassion; the manifestation of their teachings are just different. Suffering is suffering and like I've always maintained, everyone has an equal right to be happy. Just because I choose Dorje Shugden to attain ultimate liberation of my mind, doesn't mean I'm wrong or he is the only choice for everyone out there.
Dragpa Gyaltsen said yes, he remembered the promise that he made but wondered how he could become a being of wrath when he had removed all anger from his mindstream. Nechung said don't worry, he will create the causes...hence he manifested the murder (you can read more about it at dorjeshugden{DOT}com{SLASH}lineage{DOT}htm). To me, it's a great example of how Protectors and enlightened beings work together to spread the dharma.
Because the spirit is oath-bound to protect the dharma, much like Dorje Shugden, an enlightened Buddha, is bound by his compassionate nature to protect the dharma. I read on dorjeshugden{DOT}com that DS was created by Nechung. When Duldzin Dragpa Gyaltsen was receiving teachings from Je Tsongkhapa, Nechung manifested as a white dove and requested him to become a protector. Later, as Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsen, Nechung reappeared and reminded Dragpa Gyaltsen of his promise.
You know why my Guru did not tell me to read that book? Because there is no need (and I actually have that book, in PDF format too). It may be based on Trijang Rinpoche's words, but are you saying that the great Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche practised a samsaric protector all of his life? That the Dalai Lama himself, whom you believe to be Chenrezig and therefore always in possession of omniscience, was once unable to distinguish between a samsaric protector and an fully enlightened being? Cannot be.
What of HHDL's reliance on Nechung then? Pehar was a worldly spirit bound by Padmasambhava. How come Pehar could be bound, but DS (supposedly also a worldly spirit or samsaric protector) cannot be bound and destroyed by even one of the attained lamas who have been trying to kill him since the time of the Fifth Dalai Lama? There must have been SOME attained lamas in the nine monasteries who were trying to bind and burn DS.
It can't be that there were no attained lamas during those pujas (and all pujas since the time of the Great Fifth). It must be that DS cannot be killed because he is not a samsaric protector!
That book may be based on Trijang Rinpoche's words but it could be part of a bigger picture, which is to fuel a side of the ban, to keep the controversy going to promote DS's name.
I really doubt that highly attained beings like Trijang Rinpoche, Pabongkha Rinpoche, the Dalai Lama etc could make a mistake like this, and keep switching their minds back and forth without a BIGGER purpose.
Speaking of purpose, mine is not to promote anyone's political agenda, or convert people who are against DS. Mine is to clear wrong view, to make people think twice about criticising the Dalai Lama OR Dorje Shugden, because neither deserve criticism.
Amen to that. Dorje Shugden will become very big, very soon. It has been predicted and it shall come to pass. If you believe he is just a worldly spirit, fair enough. But if he is an Enlightened one and you are cussing him - think what negative karma you gain. Do you want to take the risk? If you do, fine. Don't worship him and shut up!
This video was a little disappointing - i thought it would raise the issue of Shugden.. or even Nechung. It just showed a clip of Nechung as a backgrounder. I like Christiane Amanpour but i don't feel this was a good interview. As lineage holder says, Shugden is the only way. The Dalai lama does not seem to be able to unite so i hope Panchen Lama will be the great uniting force for the future, assisted by Dorje Shugden.
Shugden is the only way. It is not possible to reconcile worship of shugden and the Dalai Lama simultaneously. The Dalai is working to split China, another country, therefore he is not good. Anyone who follows him also is not good. Only Shugden is the proper way, as well as Panchen Ereni.
This theory also offers the possibility that there is a larger picture at hand between Dorje Shugden, HH Dalai lama and Nechung. The possibility is there because the alternative is not logical. Points to ponder, definitely.
Lincong - just to share that according to dorjeshugden(dot) com, "Nechung is the one who requested Dulzin Drakpa Gyeltsen to arise as an uncommon Protector to protect Nagarjunas view as embodied within Lama Tsongkapas lineage only 350 years ago. Why would the same Nechung be talking the opposite?"
Nechung is also a spirit subdued hundreds of years ago to become Dalai Lama's protector, so they said Shugden is also a spirit, then, do the same thing! Subdue him and end of story, why create so much trouble for the people? Why talk about him again and again and break up Sangha community?
Dalai lama wants a democratic system for Tibetans.
Yet what democratic leader would say that a certain group may not join his public talks due to their religious orientation?
Imagine if Obama said all jews cannot attend his public talks because they don't accept Christ? That could never happen.
So If Dalai lama wishes to emulate G-7 democratic leadership, he has to stop ostracizing anyone even if they practice Dorje Shugden. Ghost or not..simple.
Therefore, it doesnt really make sense that apparently Nechung advised Dalai Lama not to practice Dorje Shugden anymore. How can that be? That is saying that the protectors are higher than the Lamas, and that Dalai Lama doesnt know for himself whether Dorje Shugden is enlightened or not. If that was the case, then why would he write so many praises during his lifetime about DS being a Buddha, and consulted him over so many lifetimes?!
Its important to remember also however, that actually, the protectors listen to the instructions of the Lamas, and not the other way around. They PROTECT the Dharma, and as the Lamas are the ones who TEACH the Dharma, the protectors actually defer to the Lama. They make prostrations and offerings to the Lama when they come in trance. They give advice, but ultimately, it is the Lamas who are held supreme.
The ancient practice of consulting oracles is so beautiful and profound. It is just so compassionate of the Lamas to make this sacred connection to the Buddhas available to beings like us.
The protectors and oracles are so important to our practice, guiding and protecting. Nechung and Dorje Shugden worked hand in hand for many, many with the Dalai Lama, giving and receiving advice to spread the dharma. It sure seems to be working after all, Tibetan Buddhism is now bigger than ever before!
Now HH Gaden Trisur's is openly saying he is PRACTISING DORJE SHUGDEN hence defect to Shar Gaden. Hes no ordinary monk but a high Lama, the obvious is understood; Shugden is not a spirit!
Many high Lamas till this day practice Shugden and more will step out. There must be a bigger reason behind all this controversial Publicity created. By HHDL saying NO to DS, He's infact asking people to really choose either Guru Devotion / Samsara Politics. Maybe real Dharma is put to the test?
HHDL is not getting any younger like what truth1888 says. What will happen to TGIE once he passes, sorry to say?? Will they still be able to hide behind HH name n use it for their own political purpose? We need to think well into the future n not just act upon it. What's so wrong in not causing harm to people whether they practice Shugden or not, isn't that the basis of compassion which is taught by HH the Dalai Lama? Aren't they still human, aren't we suppose to be compassionate?
Seriously why do they rely on Nechug who is a worldly spirit but not Dorje Shugden? And is it not Nechug who requested for Dragpa Gyeltsen to become a protector Dorje Shugden to to protect the Dharma? You can read the history at dorje shugden (dot) com. So isn't it better to rely on a protector that is for the Dharma? Perhaps they can consult with Dorje Shugden on Tibet's cause? No harm in trying if the cause is really to help Tibetans ...
Did you watch the video? What do you think of his "middle way approach", he´s talking about genuine autonomy (within China), young Tibetans want "direct action" and complete independence. Which approach do you prefer? Any thoughts? Seriously, why do you comment if you have nothing to say???
The state protector Nechung is unable to help the Dalai Lama gain autonomy or freedom for Tibet.
The Tibetan Govt should invoke the Dorje Shugden protector, apologize and ask his help and seek his advice.
Dorje Shugden is a very powerful being that can be a great ally, friend and help to the Dalai Lama. Dalai Lama needs all the friends he can get both human and non-human.
Dalai Lama essentially has been engaging in religion-purging, defaming other sectors one by one, trying to make him the only one god in Tibetan regilions. By himself the only god like status in religion, he can pick and reincarnate any Lamas as he wi
the Dalai Lama has been remarkably nepotistic, appointing members of his family to many positions of prominence. In recent years, three of the six members of the Kashag, or cabinet, the highest executive branch of the Tibetan government-in-exile, have been close relatives of the Dalai Lama.
shut up, you don't know Tibetan culture which thousands of years old. There are common view point and uncommon view, if you are ignorant, try to learn it, otherwise just saying bad things is wrong
Hey dude, I am not dissing Tibetan culture, but everyone agrees Tibet was a Serf society prior to Tenzin Gyatso being kicked out. BTW, I appreciate Tibetan culture and do travel to Tibetan areas quite frequently. Have you been to Tibet? eh?
these shugden practitioners remind me of scientologists. they are so agressive in trying to smear image of his holiness and whoever is against the practice.
Tibet is not a democracy, never was and never will be.
Tibet is a buddhist kingdom governed by spiritual law.
if you can`t understand this...there is no point in making your stupid comments.
if you really want to protest...go to your politicians in the U.N. and ask them why they are permitting chemtrails to be sprayed over your stupid and ignorant heads.
Buddhims is not a game....you can not challenge those who brought you the dharma.
the dalai lama is a spiritual leader and it is his DUTY do ban dorje shugden
its still allowed for you to practice, just dont go to the dalai lama
why is that so hard to understand?? dorje shugden caused trouble since 17th century, and not since some western wannabe white rednecks joined that bullshit!!
Indian High court in New Delhi is summoning Dalai Lama to court due to his unconstitutional ban on the ancient practice of Dorje Shugden on his own people.
In India where there are so many religions and their subsects, it is unheard of that a secular/religious leader can issue such a ban.
It has shocked the Indian psyche.
Preliminary hearings have began.
Aljazeera news has a special report. It is posted on the youtube.
No democratic leader in the world today would condemn or stop any form of religious worship.
Even the Pope dare not speak against other religions anymore.
Today's world leaders must show acceptance and tolerance of all forms of worship even the worship of Dorje Shugden.
The Dharamsala Tibetan Govt only has a few years left and they are on the decline. Their existence depends on Dalai Lama. Once he passes,THEY ARE FINISHED.
I advise them to stop all this anti shugden rhetoric.
HH wisely does not want to see his countrymen massacred by China again. A good Buddhist does not protest or fight, a good Buddhist meditates, listens to teachings and leads a virtuous life, one that is calm, content, unmoved. Liberation from China is nothing compared to liberation from clinging and ego. it doesn't really make sense that Nechung (a worldly unenlightened protector) has advised not to practice Dorje Shugden who is an enlightened being.
Furthermore, when DS first arose as a protector, it was Nechung who endorsed him - so now he changes his mind? it doesn't make sense
There are so many contradictions to this argument.
TheRedNiece 1 year ago
DharmaDefender
I understand why DS is so controversial among Gelugpas.
The Shugden cult has become a "hybrid", it´s like "shamanism" in Buddhist disguise.
The propitiation of "protectors"or spirits is a non-Buddhist, but accepted, element in T.B. The protectors were "subdued" by Guru Rinpoche a long time ago. It´s not a threat to Buddhism, just an additional practice, not the main focus. But taking refuge in a highly disputed protector is non-Buddhist.
Varavaken 1 year ago
@Varavaken the fact is that this "dispute" has arisen only in recent times. For 350 years, many thousands of monks and even lay practitioners worshipped Dorje Shugden peacefully, without any conflict. Even Sakya practitioners propitiated him profoundly.
So is that to saying that all those elite, highly attained masters - Including the dalai lama himself - were "Non Buddhist?" I don't think so many of these high lamas could have ALL been wrong!
TheRedNiece 1 year ago
Gelugpas agree that Pabonkha was a great Gelug teacher. But his promotion of DS was a huge mistake.
Varavaken 1 year ago
That's so contradictory. How can a great Gelug master like Pabongkha Rinpoche, who wrote one of the most celebrated commentaries on the Lam Rim, make a mistake over a spirit??? How can great Gelug masters like Trijang Rinpoche and Zong Rinpoche make such a mistake? How can Dromo Geshe Rinpoche, recognised by the Thirteenth Dalai Lama as "Lama Tsong Khapa himself", make a mistake???
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
Given the Thirteenth Dalai Lama was anti-DS, for him to say that such a strong DS practitioner like Dromo Geshe Rinpoche is Lama Tsongkhapa himself, should make you think about the nature of Dorje Shugden. How can Lama Tsongkhapa himself make a mistake about spirit worship? All these inconsistencies coming from anti-DS lamas should make you contemplate deeper about the nature of the ban, and about Dorje Shugden's nature.
DharmaDefender 1 year ago

Varavaken 1 year ago

Do you take refuge in DS?
Some Shugden devotees do. But not all.
Varavaken 1 year ago
Again, I suggest you reread my posts. Of course I take refuge in Dorje Shugden. Why shouldn't I? As an enlightened being, he is an appropriate object to take refuge in. 'Shug' means might/power, and 'den' means 'irreversible'. The only being that has irreversible power is a Buddha, because once you're enlightened, you're enlightened...you can't be unenlightened!
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
No, not all Dorje Shugden devotees take refuge in him, but many many practitioners do. Trijang Rinpoche, Zong Rinpoche, Dagom Rinpoche, Gangchen Rinpoche, Pabongkha Rinpoche, they all either did or explained that DS can be an appropriate person to take refuge in. I trust them because their actions show results - Pabongkha Rinpoche continues to benefit others with his books, for example, and Gangchen Rinpoche continues to benefit others with his healing.
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
I suggest you reread my posts, because I've never once attacked the Dalai Lama nor said a negative thing about him. Whatever I have said, I have always quantified with his motivation. There is a ban, that is negative but it is quantified by his motivation which is to spread Dorje Shugden...because from what I can see, the ban caused Dorje Shugden's name to go out on the media everywhere.
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
And why shouldn't I defend China, when their people are just as deserving towards happiness as everyone else? Just because the Chinese government did awful things to the Tibetans, does not mean the Chinese people do not deserve to experience less suffering. Likewise, the Tibetan government is currently doing awful things to their own people by implementing the ban, and ostracising people but I don't think the TGIE are any less deserving of happiness.
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
If you were Buddhist, you'd understand that instead of attacking Dorje Shugden practitioners as you do, you should perhaps have compassion for them. If you believe DS to be a spirit (which he is not), and his practice to be evil (which it is not), then why not have compassion for the practitioners instead of hate them and ostracise them? THAT is the Buddhist way. Compassion is the way HHDL himself teaches actually. Perhaps you should read the article 'Contemplate this' on dorjeshugden{DOT}com.

I am also well aware of the human rights violations of this ban, because freedom to practise religion is guaranteed by the Tibetan AND Indian constitutions, AND the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, all of which are being violated by the ban.

Not, "None of the material AI has received contains evidence of abuses"?
Of course not - how could the Dalai Lama sanction torture, capital punishment, etc?
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
Don't forget the part of their statement that says "while recognizing that a spiritual debate can be contentious, [we] cannot become involved in debate on spiritual issues."
They're effectively absolving themselves on making any judgement of the matter, because Dorje Shugden is a purely spiritual matter and Amnesty International can recognise this.
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
Remember - due to unfortunate circumstances, Tibetans are a guest of India so they should abide by Indian law, and allow Dorje Shugden practitioners to practise their traditions without discrimination.
No, DS practitioners have not made their choice because the WSS DO NOT speak on behalf of all DS practitioners. I prefer websites like dorjeshugden{DOT}com which promote a more moderate, compassionate view that leads to greater harmony because respect between both 'sides' is encouraged.
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
In fact, there is no difference between the two sides, because one enlightened Beings teachings do not differ from the next. Dorje Shugden teaches compassion, Dalai Lama teaches compassion; the manifestation of their teachings are just different. Suffering is suffering and like I've always maintained, everyone has an equal right to be happy. Just because I choose Dorje Shugden to attain ultimate liberation of my mind, doesn't mean I'm wrong or he is the only choice for everyone out there.
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
Dragpa Gyaltsen said yes, he remembered the promise that he made but wondered how he could become a being of wrath when he had removed all anger from his mindstream. Nechung said don't worry, he will create the causes...hence he manifested the murder (you can read more about it at dorjeshugden{DOT}com{SLASH}lineage{DOT}htm). To me, it's a great example of how Protectors and enlightened beings work together to spread the dharma.
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
Because the spirit is oath-bound to protect the dharma, much like Dorje Shugden, an enlightened Buddha, is bound by his compassionate nature to protect the dharma. I read on dorjeshugden{DOT}com that DS was created by Nechung. When Duldzin Dragpa Gyaltsen was receiving teachings from Je Tsongkhapa, Nechung manifested as a white dove and requested him to become a protector. Later, as Tulku Dragpa Gyaltsen, Nechung reappeared and reminded Dragpa Gyaltsen of his promise.

Read the Yellow Book.
How many did DS kill?
Is that your idea of compassion?
A jealous, hateful deity who kills Gelugpas.
I bet your guru did not tell you to read that book.
The vengeful nature of DS proves that he is a samsaric protector, not a fully enlightened being.
But I guess you don´t care. After all you´re promoting China´s political agenda.
Similar mentality.
Varavaken 1 year ago
You know why my Guru did not tell me to read that book? Because there is no need (and I actually have that book, in PDF format too). It may be based on Trijang Rinpoche's words, but are you saying that the great Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche practised a samsaric protector all of his life? That the Dalai Lama himself, whom you believe to be Chenrezig and therefore always in possession of omniscience, was once unable to distinguish between a samsaric protector and an fully enlightened being? Cannot be.
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
What of HHDL's reliance on Nechung then? Pehar was a worldly spirit bound by Padmasambhava. How come Pehar could be bound, but DS (supposedly also a worldly spirit or samsaric protector) cannot be bound and destroyed by even one of the attained lamas who have been trying to kill him since the time of the Fifth Dalai Lama? There must have been SOME attained lamas in the nine monasteries who were trying to bind and burn DS.
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
It can't be that there were no attained lamas during those pujas (and all pujas since the time of the Great Fifth). It must be that DS cannot be killed because he is not a samsaric protector!
That book may be based on Trijang Rinpoche's words but it could be part of a bigger picture, which is to fuel a side of the ban, to keep the controversy going to promote DS's name.
DharmaDefender 1 year ago
I really doubt that highly attained beings like Trijang Rinpoche, Pabongkha Rinpoche, the Dalai Lama etc could make a mistake like this, and keep switching their minds back and forth without a BIGGER purpose.
Speaking of purpose, mine is not to promote anyone's political agenda, or convert people who are against DS. Mine is to clear wrong view, to make people think twice about criticising the Dalai Lama OR Dorje Shugden, because neither deserve criticism.

i wondering why could DL ask for advice from a spirit called Nechung and not an Enlightened Buddha called DORJE SHUGDEN???!!!

Amen to that. Dorje Shugden will become very big, very soon. It has been predicted and it shall come to pass. If you believe he is just a worldly spirit, fair enough. Dorje Shugden will live forever. He is not limited to the human body.
All those in human body will die and so will their messages. But Dorje Shugden belongs to the fleshless realm, which will live forever.

KacheMarp0 1 year ago
Shugden is the only way. It is not possible to reconcile worship of shugden and the Dalai Lama simultaneously. The Dalai is working to split China, another country, therefore he is not good. Anyone who follows him also is not good. Only Shugden is the proper way, as well as Panchen Ereni.

wisdombeing 1 year ago

If that was the case, then why would he write so many praises during his lifetime about DS being a Buddha, and consulted him over so many lifetimes?!
dharmadolly 2 years ago
Its important to remember also however, that actually, the protectors listen to the instructions of the Lamas, and not the other way around. They PROTECT the Dharma, and as the Lamas are the ones who TEACH the Dharma, the protectors actually defer to the Lama. They make prostrations and offerings to the Lama when they come in trance. They give advice, but ultimately, it is the Lamas who are held supreme.
dharmadolly 2 years ago
The ancient practice of consulting oracles is so beautiful and profound. It is just so compassionate of the Lamas to make this sacred connection to the Buddhas available to beings like us.
The protectors and oracles are so important to our practice, guiding and protecting. Nechung and Dorje Shugden worked hand in hand for many, many with the Dalai Lama, giving and receiving advice to spread the dharma. It sure seems to be working after all, Tibetan Buddhism is now bigger than ever before!
dharmadolly 2 years ago
Now HH Gaden Trisur's is openly saying he is PRACTISING DORJE SHUGDEN hence defect to Shar Gaden. Hes no ordinary monk but a high Lama, the obvious is understood; Shugden is not a spirit!
Many high Lamas till this day practice Shugden and more will step out. There must be a bigger reason behind all this controversial Publicity created. By HHDL saying NO to DS, He's infact asking people to really choose either Guru Devotion / Samsara Politics. Maybe real Dharma is put to the test?
thepurpleaster 2 years ago
HHDL is not getting any younger like what truth1888 says. What will happen to TGIE once he passes, sorry to say?? Will they still be able to hide behind HH name n use it for their own political purpose? We need to think well into the future n not just act upon it. What's so wrong in not causing harm to people whether they practice Shugden or not, isn't that the basis of compassion which is taught by HH the Dalai Lama? Aren't they still human, aren't we suppose to be compassionate?
thepurpleaster 2 years ago
Seriously why do they rely on Nechug who is a worldly spirit but not Dorje Shugden? And is it not Nechug who requested for Dragpa Gyeltsen to become a protector Dorje Shugden to to protect the Dharma? You can read the history at dorje shugden (dot) com. So isn't it better to rely on a protector that is for the Dharma? Perhaps they can consult with Dorje Shugden on Tibet's cause? No harm in trying if the cause is really to help Tibetans ...

Why hasnt Tibet regained independence under Nechung's guidance?
if Nechung is so powerful, why did Dalai lama follow the advice of the protector Shugden when he wanted to escape from Tibet?
Why was the Nechung oracle left behind during this secret escape out of Tibet?

No matter how much the Tibetan govt has done rituals, ceremonies and pujas to destroy, bind, or kill Dorje Shugden they are not able to.
It is amazing how many times they have tried. They have called high lamas from all Schools of Buddhism to eradicate Dorje Shugden yet they cannot.
What does that tell you, that they don't have enough power combined together against one Dorje Shugden?
