In may 1977, while on tour in France, Marley re-injured a right toe during a game of soccer. The injury refused to heal and quickly got worse. Doctors recommended amputation. Citing religious beliefs, marley refused. Later that summer he did allow a skin-graft on the toe and the operation was deemed "a success". In september 1980, he almost fainted onstage in New York. The next day he collapsed while jogging in central park. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He died 8 months later.

After his brain was diagnosed with a cancerous growth he was later also diagnosed with lung and stomach cancer. He was given just a month to live but sportingly played one last concert in america and held onto life for 8 more months. R.I.P. Bob Marley.
