This reminds me of my life, just in the way, that I am lost, helpless and falling behind, alone -- and that feeling of being so desperate, as to wish for something to change.
this song does send a kind of chill down my spine that .... i hadnt felt be4... "cause i wouldnt know where to begin....... i asked the kings of medicine" .....that part is amazing,
The song is about Brian's struggle with alcohol, (possibly other drugs but mainly alcohol as it refers to 'jonny walker' ) and feeling lost 'don't leave me here to pass through time without a map or roadsign' is his plea to himself as he tries to go cold turkey, and feels directionless in his life.He knows he can't rely on a substance to feel complete - 'stupid me to believe i could depend on stupid you'. 'All im left with is The Hours' could be refering to alcoholic meetings
This is one of my favorite placebo songs and songs of all time, it brought me to tears when i first heard it, and it's so vulnerable it sends shivers down my spine.
I love this song too.For me, it's the best from the album. I can listen to it 10 times a day. The lyrics are too beautiful... "don't leave me here my guiding light, i wouldn't know where to begin" :'(
one of rthe best songs from the album, i rate it up their with julien, does anyone kind of think the trumpets and other instruments sound like the beatles st pepper album, i think so?
im going to see this band live in december (unfortunetly i'll be at the back sat down, they are my fav band but recently i;'ve heard brian is unhappy live?
They played Bitter end in Werchter and In BBK live. They didn't play Pure Morning or 36 degrees in none of the concerts and they played a version of Meds in BBK live and it was wonderful. It's my favourite Placebo's song. I love their style and their music even if they do not talk too much. I like the last CD, it is not as good as Meds, but I like. Long live to Placebo.
I saw Placebo twice this month. they didn't play this great song. I disagree with zlatickoxt: Bian connects with the audience if the audience is good. In Rock Werchter Festival (Belgium) it's true: they hardly said Thank you. But in BBK Live (Spain) he spoke in Spanish and said "Muchas gracias" lots of times, but the audience was completely crazy, it was a really good concert!!!
this song matches perfectly for the recent deaths of 2 of my friends( girsl ) 2 days ago .... its just sad how everything happened that fast... i wish them a happy new life wherever they are ..
lucky you...u get to see em live. I'm stuck ovr in Autralia and im underaged so i can't see marilyn manson so ive got no concerts to go to rofl
btw iv eben fan bout 4 years aswell. I don't like their new stuff neartly as much as their old stuff tho. It's all good but i like their first 2 albums best especially I Know...1 of the best songs ever
I agree with you that their new album is not as great as the rest.Anyway the concert was below average. They performed 8-9 songs of their new album(not including Kings of Medicine) and 6-7 oldie(not including Pure Morning,Bitter End,Where is my mind, running up that hill,20 years nor Post Blue.)Also there was almost no communication between the band and especially Brian Molko and the crowd.Too average for Placebo.I love their music, but their gig sucked big time.
This reminds me of my life, just in the way, that I am lost, helpless and falling behind, alone -- and that feeling of being so desperate, as to wish for something to change.

Perfect bass piece, unique vocal tone and the lyrics themselves seem to about a volatile friendship that just so happens to involve drugs.

you might be lucky and get him on a good day :)
i saw them for the first time in 2004 and he connected with the audience wonderfully, telligstories and whatnot
i saw them again in 2006 and i dont recall him saying one thing to the audience..

at pinkpop in netherlands Brian even told stories between the songs it was like free poetry.
