jimmy page took influence from davy graham and bert jansch for white summer and black mountain side(which is more a cover of jansch then anything else.)but its tradition for folk musicians to recycle others music in different arrangments and call it their own piece.happens with lyrics and that all the time.
I know Black Mountain Side very well - it was just White Summer I was unaware of (not really being a Led Zep fan). But there's always been a lot of crossover in music - acknowledged or otherwise - which can only be good, IMO. :-)
Not really, but I've been doing it a long time (40+ years)! I learned to play fingerstyle from a variety of sources including the recordings of Merle Travis and Doc Watson, and the live performances of people like Davy Graham, Bert Jansch, Martin Carthy, etc. :-)

Yep got the sundance pro tw15-ns today on a next day delivery and there isnt one thing I dont love about that guitar. I think I have just bought the guitar I will play every day for at least the next 10 years. Tanglewood all the way. cheers Will
Hah - I had a very short thumb nail and very short first fingernail when I did this - they both broke about a fortnight ago (on holiday!). So it's a weird mixture of nail and skin that I'm using. Glad it sounds clean 'cos I nearly didn't record it. Tanglewood guitars are fantastic value for the money. Mine's the Sundance model - not as gutsy as my Martin but, at half the price - excellent stuff.
Will, are you picking with nails or just finger flesh? Looks like flesh, but it sounds really clean. Also I am thinking about buying a Tanglewood Sundance Pro (tw15-ns), you recommend Tanglewood? You seem to get a lot for the cash, £300 for all solid construction!
