@800kirby I do not know.. the project in the video was championed by the high school student leadership team and the county emergency management, sheriff, fire and EMS teamed up to make it happen. According to many comments made here, this is quite popular in getting the attention of our kids. It was very well-received. So, no I do not think it is a requirement (by law) but just something done voluntary - unless this type of exercise is part of required grant performance or something. Thanks
they did this at our school and they actually had two cars all smashed up and kids acted dead and other things and they had the air lift come and land and take one kid away. the whole thing was an hour long
@Somborac420 --Cancer, and it is just as imperitive as alcohol. Im an EMT and one prom night, 3 years ago actually, a group of kids got high with no alcohol what so ever. The were swerving that night because we could see that throught the traffic cameras. The rolled the car and the gas tank caught the interior on fire. The all burned to death that night. and it was my job to get them out. Marijuana does kill. Im a personal witness to that.
i remembered that my cousin Danny got killed in the car accident. He and his friends were drunk & he and his friends went around the old woman's car and they all rolled over about 3 times & they all flew out of the ca & got killed on August 1987. So please don't drink & drive. If you do drink & drive and the cops will give you an ticket or the cops can arrest you for drink & drive or you can be killed just like my cousin Danny did.
They did this at our school today. They took one senior out of a class about every fifteen minutes to represent that every 15 minutes someone dies in a car accident related to drunk driving. The kids had volunteered to be taken out of class by two police officers and a man dressed as the Grim Reaper. Every time they removed a student from class they would announce the name of the student and post an obituary on the students locker.
Hopefully it is effective... there sure are some clever ways of getting the message out about driving drunk. Thanks for taking it seriously.. stay safe!
This reminds me of One Too Many starring Val Kilmur as Eric who ends up taking 2 lives while driving drunk. I think at times driving drunk and killing someone is not only extremely poor judgment but also how someone has lost control over their drinking. I wish there was a One Too Many video floating around here for more to see. It was an After School Special aired in 1985
Yeah sorta my dad is DO16 And my favorite officer/ adopted uncle is DO17 lol but yeah i have grown up around the sheriffs office and all the staff my whole life so its like a second home lol. How are you affiliated with the sheriffs office?
First, student involvement is critical in the planning. In this exercise, the Waterville Leadership group spearheaded it all and worked with the school admin. Waterville does this every couple years or so, so this may not have been much of a surprise for some. It was staged to look like kids were partying in the parking lot and crashed in to the pole. We were ready when the kids arrived for school. Fire/EMS/Law all responded with lights and sirens. Reaction was priceless for some!
did they no it was an excersise or we they jus wlkin to skl and seen this !? i think b better if they dint no ! and then get told in class it was all a act ...id give them somethin to think about rather than watchin it thinkin ah it aint real ..er blood dnt worry its not real ..cause if they new the hole time theyd b wathcin it theyd be thinkin its not real its not real
i went around a 15mph corner at 100mph. my truck rolled 12 times.. my best friend was ejected and killed when the truck rolled over him. this shit is no joke.i learned my lesson and will learn more about prison. im sure the offenders of this act are not the ones that read this. i fucked up big, saw my best friend dead. even checked his pulse. i seriously walked away from it. dont drink and drive
Amazing post... thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, lessons are hard to learn and often too late. I hope many people read your comment to better understand the real costs of driving drunk.
in the 7th grade we used these goggles to make it feel like ur drunk and we drove golf carts i tipped and i hit a tree. It was fun but i never want to drink and drive EVER!
this is not stupid! this can and does really happen. drinking and driving is stupid showing what can happen when you do is not stupid and anyone who thinks it is stupid
MADD has a program that they do where actors (like these) which are usually kids from the high school, act as if they are drunk, hurt or dead. I have been on many a fatality accident, and this is 10 minutes is not graphic.
the police can memorize that but they still have to read it off a card because if they dont and get somthing rong the suspect can not be charegd and is realesed i no it sounds fake but its true or atleast it is in my dept
I'm sorry, but that sounds really stupid. We aren't even allowed to read speeches off of notecards for school. How hard can it possibly be to remember to tell a person their rights? I'm not trying to insult the police or anything, but I dont understand how hard it can be!
Its so when they testify in court they can say, "I read this to them." And then they can quote the card. I mean obviously the man can read from a card, right? But if he were to say, " Well, I told him what his rights were." There is a reasonable doubt. And the person is only guilty if proven BEYOND a reasonable doubt.
You are exactly right... it may only be a small paragraph, but it is the most important thing. If not stated correctly, the person responsible would walk. It is read to ensure accuracy.
I'm an italian policeman. I saw a lot af accident like this, and i can say that the bitter moment is when you have to pull out the deads from the car. Those moments will remain iside you all life long.
wait this was fake right? i kno that this kinda shit happens all the time. my moms best friend/sisters daughter died when they were drunk and only 2 of them survived out of the 5 that were in the car. its very very sad.
You guys are idiots. I guarantee you'll be thinking twice after the medics pull your dumbass out of that car and slam 16 gauge needle in each of your arms and a tube down your throat to breath.

It's a legal thing. The reason you can't read cards in school is because of professionalism in business. Not in law.
