@CapitalG1414 Everyone is allowed their opinion. However, do you know how hard it is to keep track of a level 26 character. Now make that a Black Dragon Sorceror who is an effective level 26 character, or a mummified drider cleric. It isn't easy. That is why we were using PC's to keep track of the information. As a DM I use a computer to better keep track of all my NPC's, stories, and have pdf's as do some of my players.

You should absolutely record and upload sessions. It's a shame the majority of DnD videos on youtube are tutorials with no gameplay included. Not very helpful. None of my friends are interested in this stuff so it's hard to scratch the DnD itch.

I didn't put this video up for your pleasure. I put it up to document the story I was doing in the epic game. As for background music, I have noticed it does distract game play. Only time I put on music is a boss entrance and that is only when im very well prepared. Not all the PC's stayed in that game, three of them were removed at various times for various reasons, and a few more were added.

really depends on which edition your playing.

in edition 3.5 the twenty sided dice is rolled, if you make a set number, you succeed whatever you attempted. if not, you failed.

in edition 1 (ad&d) you need to read the tables to show you what die to roll.

dungeons and dragons is about eshtablishing a rule, and then creation eceptions for that rule. the rest is just statistical information (the damage of a sowrd for instance)

ok I don't know how many comments i replied to about the computers. We use paper and pencil. THe computers are only for the PDF books. Its much easier to carry around a laptop then carry around 50 books. There is no difference in our play we just use books on the computer.

We arn't playing it computer. We use the pdf books out of ease. Most of use don't like carrying around 20 books, and it being epic and wanting to be uber powerful they want as many resources as possible, which means books like epic rule book, DM 1 and 2, PHB 1 and 2, Savage Species, Arms and Equipment, and the list goes on. We still roll dice and use mini's and character sheets.

I have to agree. In my game, we use pencils and paper with good old character sheets, but have the books in .pdf, along with the Players Handbook which is referenced most.

the characters are not all that wierd. Mummified characters are in the savage species and so is playing a drider. The is a history made up for the reason her character exists. Its an Epic game that was started at level 23, and I gave them creative rights to making characters. I reviewed them and they were not broken.

I have savage species, and most of it makes sense. I didn't mean that as an insult to any of your players. Mummified Drider isn't that bad, I was referencing people who do more like "Anthropomorphic whale half demon multi-headed celestial insect yuan-ti". Wizards made an April fools character sheet that had "______/______/______/______" under Race, which I thought was pretty funny and true.

Wow, i put so many restrictions on my charecters that they get overjoyed if i throw them more than 50 gold at a time and they're estatic when they level up (I tell them when to level up so they could go multiple campaigns without doing so) being weak makes them think, thinking makes them role play better, and better role playing makes the game better. At least thats how I see it.

Its a fairly high up level. Not the highest. If you play for a long time you can play with a level of 50 or so. But that sucks.

this is true however the power of greater races almost removes the need for a class even in the book of nine swords the level9 powers and the armour are still no match for a really big dragon flying 10 feat off the ground

Ok what we are using is a book called Savage Species book. Which gives ways of playing almost every monster. The Dragon should know his abilities, if the book says he can well he should know so. His dragon has shapeshifted in several occasions.

Also if the book didn't have mummy as playable we would figure something out to make things more fun. I am not a tyrant on rules, the book says that its a guide not a book of strict rules. I like to be creative and promote my players to do so too
