@coolMan5150 yeah i think there were 3 good songs on that album. thats bad for a rush album. they went a little too 80s sounding with all of those keyboards
If the world exploded tomorrow I'd be thankful for my children, my folks, my friends, and that I got to be alive during the time that Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee and Neal Peart were making music together as RUSH.
I think they did. It's surprising how hard learning arrangements is; I had no idea it would be like that when I joined a band. I'd say learning the arrangements is just as hard as actually learning how to play the parts in some cases.
Good to see they're human like us :-p I love Rush.
@DJGuitar33 I saw them a few times on this tour and was disappointed to fund out that they dropped it lol...wouldve been cool to hear at least once. I think its a very good song with some amazing playing in it but would have prefered nocturne, PK VT,or sweet miracle over this one.
I thought i heard Geddy say he wasn't going to play this song live but i guess i'm wrong and this song is kick ass Rush is my favorite band and i'm like one of the 3 kids in my highschool who know who they are.

I think it's actually the hat given to him by an african drummer, who helped him to reform his style back in the 90's. Probably on one of his bike trips.
He's not bald it's just his thing. If anybody in RUSH is balding it's Alex, check out some newer interviews & you should be able to see his lil bald spot.
Even on one of their two lack luster albums, they still managed to create some kick ass songs. On this album for example, Earthshine, Nocturne, Ceiling Unlimited, and Sweet Miracle. Those few songs alone make the album worth while.
OMG!!!!! I DID NOT MEAN TO HIT THUMBS DOWN!!!! First day with the new fingers lol... IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN 2 HIGH FIVES!!!! I JUST LOVE LOVE LOVE TOUR COMMENT!!!! RUSH ON, MY FRIEND!!!! :+)
I love this song. Best song on an album full of awesome material. I was shocked that it didn't make the "board bootlegs" section of the Rio CD. To make the point of including the other two songs for "completists" and not this was a very strange choice.
XanaduRush, is the audio of this song available in hi-res stereo?
I know I am probably in the minority of fans but this song absolutely smoked live. I was hoping for Freeze to be in the 2002 set list but never happened.

When I was listening days before, I thought there was a mistake, I thought, naa..But now I am sure. Geddy hardly ever makes a mistake but check it out, I think at around 3:20...Sound like a mistake to me...
i think u might be right kenny, sounds like a miscue with the line "the time is now again"... if u notice @ 3:40 he'll sing it and then it repeats itself, it appears that time he sang over the recorded voice... in the end, hes still geddy lee and who cares right? lol
well there had to be a reason why he had the recorded voice there, I would doubt that, that is a mistake, but no one cares, the song still rocks and so do they and that's all you have to say about it, if not there's more for sure
well they use recordings often for sound effects and reverbs when they perform live, i just meant that theres a sequence between him singing the line and a reverb, and basically he mistimed one of the cues. in all honesty, how many ppl actually noticed or care?
Couple of things, I saw Rush in 2002, in pa, nj ny, and don;t remember them playing this, it is not on rush in rio. VT cd, is GREAT ! I can listen to it over and over...This song does not sound good live...Good thing they dropped it. It is however, an incredible song! What an inspirational song!
I saw them play it @ the Garden State Arts Center in Jersey. When I saw them @ Madison Square Garden later in the otur they had dropped it in favor of "Ghostrider".
I saw them 3 times on the Vapor Trails tour, and only once did they play Ceiling Unlimited and that one was at the Giant Center in Hershey PA. I think the members of Rush themselves feel Vapor Trails is their best album. I don't know if I'd go that far (hard to top Moving Pictures) but I think it's an excellent album, and this is the best song off of it.
I'm a huge Rush fan, but Vapor Trails is mostly a horrible album, to this day I can't even get through it without throwing it against the wall. Then I quickly have to put on some good music like Aerosmith Rocks or AC/DC's Highway to Hell. The trails of vapor are from that pile of shit! Secret touch is great on the "Rush in Rio" dvd though.
How can you say that without giving a good reason as to why Vapour Trails is 'a horrible album'?? (And before you correct my spelling of 'vapour', its the British way). Vapour trails represents a band that have matured over the many years of playing brilliant music and and have learnt from the mistakes and successes of every album.
If you had bothered to listen to vapour trails properly, you may have discovered the true beauty, musicianship and grandeur of this album. As many of the songs were written by Neil Peart on the healing road of mourning (for his wife and daughter), there comes across a strong sense of a new start, and freshness in the music. All I'm saying is, next time you listen to Vapour Trails, really LISTEN to it, you may find more than you had found beforehand.
I'm glad that people like you are trying to make people understand what music is. Vapor trails is an unbelievable album with lots of feeling.
They play better than ever, they're real artists, and you have to understand the music. The best album of RUSH, lots of power and feeling at the same time.
