This is arguably the weakest song on this entire album. And the fact that it makes me wish I was born in 1955 just so I could see KISS at the height of their powers is a testament to how much Sonic Boom fucking rocks.

When Ace Frehley left Kiss in 2002, Thayer was the band's choice to replace Frehley. Kiss wanted to retain the classic look of the original lineup and chose Thayer to don Frehley's "Spaceman" makeup.

Wow, this does sound a little like Black n Blue who were awesome (their first 2 albums) until Gene Simmons ruined them by trying to make them sound like KISS. Say what you want about Tommy Thayer, as a guitarist Ace Frehley isn't even close to as good as this guy. Ace Frehley has always been a below average guitarist and sloppy at that.

I understand a band wanting their music to evolve as they mature, it probably gets boring as hell to play the same songs for 40 yrs. But kiss has been there done that. With at least 4 different incarnations of the band it was time to go back to their roots, to what makes them kiss and I for one love it. They're not the beatles or Dylan they are kiss, nothing more nothing less which is exactly what their fans want. If you dont get that then go buy a michael buble cd and leave us kiss fans alone

KISS is bigger than any individual member including former members. This is one of their best ever albums. This line-up rocks. I've got a copy of both Sonic Boom & Anomaly . I'll be seeing Ace soon on his Australian tour & when KISS come back I'll see them as well.

At long last somebody gets it. Both Tommy and Ace are tremendous axemen, Tommy usually downplayed because of the makeup. Ace had wanted KISS to end back in 2002 anyways, and now that he's on his own, he's able to do what he wants, and it kicks ass. Same idea goes for Tommy. When a band is having the most fun is when it's at itas best. So contrary to popular opinion I can arguably say that both Ace and KISS are at their strongest points here and now, despite being separate.
@holymackeral456 thats all well and good, but the sheer fact is Tommy and Eric are coat hangers filling an empty place onstage. Nobody denies that they are great musicians but KISS have never lived or died on musicial ability. That was Kulicks main criticism when he joined the band. The fact is KISS continue to use makeup created by them and sell merchandise with Ace and Peter on it. If they are so unimportant to the current bands history, why are they still featured ahead of the current lineup?
I agree with the merchandising aspect, but I do disagree on Tommy and Eric being mere coat hangers. Gene isn't stupid and he knows that some people will NEVER accept the new lineup- enter Ace and Peter merchandise. Studio and live-the music aspect and most important aspect at the present-enter Tommy and Eric. They have the attitude and ability and they ROCK plain and simple. Wow, this does sound a little like Black n Blue who were awesome (their first 2 albums) until Gene Simmons ruined them by trying to make them sound like KISS. Say what you want about Tommy Thayer, as a guitarist Ace Frehley isn't even close to as good as this guy. Ace Frehley has always been a below average guitarist and sloppy at that.

I understand a band wanting their music to evolve as they mature, it probably gets boring as hell to play the same songs for 40 yrs. But kiss has been there done that. With at least 4 different incarnations of the band it was time to go back to their roots, to what makes them kiss and I for one love it. They're not the beatles or Dylan they are kiss, nothing more nothing less which is exactly what their fans want. If you dont get that then go buy a michael buble cd and leave us kiss fans alone

Typical for a rock group that has outlived their sound. Not involved or complex. Doesnt really incorporate bridge work. Just straight ahead campy Kiss. Havent heard everything on this record yet but have to wonder is there even a ballad here?

KISS is bigger than any individual member including former members. This is one of their best ever albums. This line-up rocks. I've got a copy of both Sonic Boom & Anomaly . I'll be seeing Ace soon on his Australian tour & when KISS come back I'll see them as well.

I am soooo fucking tired of hearing about Ace being the sound and force behind Kiss!! Ace is a guitar god and one of my all time favorites, but has anyone noticed that NONE of his solo stuff sounds like KISS? A totally different sound. Ace is kicking ass on his own, the way it should be and Tommy suits this lineup and FUCKING ROCKS LIVE! Eric is twice the drummer Peter ever was and I bet he's not a whiny little bitch like Peter. THIS IS NOW KISS. LOVE IT OR HATE IT BUT JUST FUCKING GET OVER IT!

well said!!! SB is great!!! I love the original line-up, but it no longer exists. 2009 KISS is Gene, Paul, Eric, and Tommy--and thats it. They still rock!!! Fans should just enjoy KISS for what they are, and not be bitter for what they are not.

At long last somebody gets it. Both Tommy and Ace are tremendous axemen, Tommy usually downplayed because of the makeup. Ace had wanted KISS to end back in 2002 anyways, and now that he's on his own, he's able to do what he wants, and it kicks ass. Same idea goes for Tommy. When a band is having the most fun is when it's at itas best. So contrary to popular opinion I can arguably say that both Ace and KISS are at their strongest points here and now, despite being separate.

@holymackeral456 thats all well and good, but the sheer fact is Tommy and Eric are coat hangers filling an empty place onstage. Nobody denies that they are great musicians but KISS have never lived or died on musicial ability. That was Kulicks main criticism when he joined the band. The fact is KISS continue to use makeup created by them and sell merchandise with Ace and Peter on it. If they are so unimportant to the current bands history, why are they still featured ahead of the current lineup?

I agree with the merchandising aspect, but I do disagree on Tommy and Eric being mere coat hangers. Gene isn't stupid and he knows that some people will NEVER accept the new lineup- enter Ace and Peter merchandise. Studio and live-the music aspect and most important aspect at the present-enter Tommy and Eric. They have the attitude and ability and they ROCK plain and simple. Besides, there is Tommy and Eric merchandise, but again for those who are stuck in past......

Thank you SO much. Finally! someone gets it. It's not that Gene or Paul were being assholes, they were being realistic. Do you want two responsible people to a job when you know they are going to kick ass at it and do it right, or do you want to jeoprodize the quality of your work because people who aren't as creatively inclined as you are feel that they deserve a slice of pie? A quater of the KISS Army is saying, "I'd rather go to a shitty KISS show, just as long as it's Peter and Ace".

amen,I TOTALLLLLY AGREE!!! im tired of ace freaks putting down Paul and Gene for keeping the band alive.Ace has had 25 years to do his own thing.Thats enough time for any real artist to establish himself in the biz.He didnt,so get over it.Soon ,,after the hype is over.maybe they will let Tommy just be himself on the next album,and play his style,and youll see just how good he really is.Playing like ace and wearing aces costume,is just to show the new fans what the old shows looked like.

im not looking to be a rockstar. my life is amazing. i could not ask for anything more. ace was there first. he defined the kiss sound . ace is the heart and soul of the band. gene and paul need ace and peter. and peter and ace need gene and paul. it does not matter if peter is not the same drummer like he was twenty years ago.

Why does everybody so fucked up about Tommy and Eric, give them a break, they are doing a great job. Ofcourse we miss ace and peter, but now is the time for Tommy and Eric. Tommy and Eric have always been loyal to kiss, so you so called Kiss "fans" stop hating and enjoy the good stuff kiss brings, even after 35 years!!
