Why would Gordon give away the pressure cooker? Everyone in India has 50 of them. You don't live in India and not have a pressure cooker. Settle down.
Gordon is an amazing guy, he immerses himslef into the culture and learns and adapts so quickly. This guy would become a success anywhere he went in the world, he is so driven and passionate about what he loves. food and cooking it. I really love watching someone so positive and driven like him !!!
LOL at 0:17..proves u cant take a scottsman out of a man no matter how rich you are..the dudes worth over 80 million pounds and is jumpin in joy for winning a panasonic pressure cooker worth 30 quid...
He has 13 Michelin stars, but still at 6:09 Gordon cared so much about what the people on the streets of Calcutta eating his food thought about his street-cafe preparation, that it brought a tear to his eye.
To all those who call him an arrogant little shit, maybe that moment should give them reason to pause and reconsider what kind of person he really is.
After watching Gordon Ramsay's shows on Youtube for a whole week, I'm beginning to understand why he's so popular (apart from the food).
He was born in Scotland, grew up in a council house in Stratford-upon-Avon, and played for Glasgow Rangers as a footballer. He talks exactly like a football manager, and is as dedicated to food as he was to football. It's so clear; he presents the face of honesty and pursuit of the good.
@classicwiseguy i'm guessing you are indian... maybe biased to it... filipino food and chinese food are one of the most "best" seasoned food.... american food lacks taste.... indian too "un-kid friendly" hahaha anyway diff people have diff tastes....
@classicwiseguy have an open mind when you talk about food, unless you have traveled all over the world like gordon and actually tasted it, you are no one to make that kind of an accusation.
@TheFatal05 With your logic, you haven't tasted the food from a culture/country unless you have visited its place of origin, so eating at various Chinese, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Filipino, Korean, Buddhist Vegetarian, and even Italian etc. etc. restaurants means nothing because you haven't traveled all over the world like gordan and actually tasted it...I can make that claim because it is my opinion after having eaten at a wide range of restaurants in my city
For the ones complaining about Gordon not giving away the pressure cooker. Can you even begin to understand on how insulting it is to give away a present like that? Even if you do give it away, you would not do it in front of them. You're just plain arrogant and ungrateful if you do.
Strip away all the bullshit and he's one hell of a nice guy. He's just uber passionate about what he does. When he was in the kitchen he just wanted everyone to adhere to his standards, so a few bollockings were given out. Big deal. All the shite on Fox was purely for ratings. Here, you see what he's really about. So much respect and humility and a real passion for and understanding about food and what food means.
I think it's funny how he say's that he's got a lot of competition and that he needs to work to get people to love his food. HES THE ONLY WHITE MAN WITH A CAMERA CREW COOKING ON THAT STREET!!! Not to mention that he is already one of the best chef's in the world. How hard could it be?
@Natedawg422 Of course he has to get people in Calcutta to love food from a completely different region! For them to even agree to taste it is amazing. Indians are very house-proud, they use recipes passed down from generation to generation, each region has its own kind of food, and they're not always open to accepting influences from another region. If Gordon Ramsay were to check out the Bengali cuisine of Calcutta that would be a whole six other episodes. It's hard on a street in India! :P
@miltigirl I know. Your right. But I was just commenting on the fact that he was the only white, English man on that street with a camera crew with fancy equipment amongst hundreds of dark/brown skinned Indians. I mean where else but perhaps in Boliwood would those people see a white guy on that street that wasn't just some tourist? Sure those people would be sceptical of Gordans food, but when a camera crew is involved, he kinda stands out as a big shot whether he's cooking or not.
gordon is actually very different form what you see in hell's kitchen.. you can really see his passion and excitement for food here. there is one thing that didn't change though, he still hates to lose..haha.. nice show.. i like
@nOmIcRo4u i would love to see u speak the first lang of indian people with your stiff upper lip and then make fun of ur style and FYI outsourced has all american/British actors and i dont think u have ever seen the real call center employees.......they had to change the whole operandi of outsourced after they got a reality check that not everyone in India is a character from the SIMPSONS and have accents like him...................
i don't get how they can eat with their hands, if i was to buy some curry chicken and rice and eat it with my hands in the streets, i would run to a bathroom to wash my hands
@blackholism Well we do wash our hands before and after our meal too. :P The idea of utensils just hasn't been that popular. All over India eating with the hand is considered healthier and supposed to give a better flavour to the food. Plus our grannies would probably whoop our ass if we tried going posh and using spoons. :P
@ElDuderino909 why would you? english is india´s second official language, they use it for goverment and business and english is even enforced in school ocacionally

@Songkhi That's exactly what I was thinking. Regardless of how well of they are, there's no doubt he IS stealing a large chunk of business for that day.

@manutdok1 well he earned it. It would make a great souvenir. I don't see what's wrong with that. I'm sure if someone really wanted it, he'd hand it over no problem. I mean, you seen this oke's kitchen at home? It looks so much more expensive than my house ha ha.

@msellaumbrella I think so too. People see him in the kitchen and mistake his temper for rudeness, while clearly it's just his way of turning cold metal into steel.
