Meshuggah tune their guitars low-high to 8F, 7Bb, 6Eb, 5Ab, 4Eb, 3Gb, 2Bb, 1Eb but on the on the 7-string songs like FBM they don't use the 8F. Tune you 6-string to 6Bb, 5Eb, 4Ab, 3Db, 2Gb, 1Bb. And also up you string guage. You'll probs have something like 46-10 on standard 6-string but for the 7-string tunings use 56-13 or something

u know i hear from a lot of ppl that meshuggah is boring... i think some ppl r just listening for specific things when they listen to music and when they don't hear it they immediately tune it out... there's a great deal of complexity in meshuggah's songs despite seemingly limited amount of notes they use on those MASSIVE extended range beasts they play... :-)

I agree, a lot of people seem to think that Meshuggah's music is simple because (like Marten said in an interview) the riffs are basically picking excercises. Any guitarist with a fast picking hand should be able to play some of the riffs "out of context" (in lack of better words). Combine it with the drums though, and those "simple" riffs morphs in to complex polyrhythms and keeping time is very difficult. I think it's pretty hard to headbang to Meshuggah as well ;)
