How much money did you put into this and how long did it take to completely restore? Beautiful jeep! I've got one just like it on the way but don't know where to start. Great job!
@sweetthing77203 Thank you so much it was lots of hard work but enjoyed every moment of it Helped me keep my sanity During my first wifes long illnes and death.
Wow Roy!!! You did an awesome job on this jeep. Beautiful, and i know you are proud of it. Enjoy it my friend, and THANKS FOR SHARING THIS VIDEO, C.W.
@geepcj2a Thanks so much. It was a long difficult but pleasurable project after I finished it and started the engine put it in gear and drove around it was worth it.
Hi Roy,I really enjoyed this video.First of all I was born in 1947,I love jeeps and you did a great job of restoring this one. They are so much fun to drive I agree. My nephew has a brand new one,but they're not the same. Two Thumbs Up. Jerry
@jc6154 The new ones arent near as much fun as these older ones are, The old ones anyone could work on them When I got the little red one tuned up It would get 28-29 MPG werent all that fast but would go anywhare you had guts enough to drive them.
@warabe53 Thank you sir, born and raised on a ranch/farm and growing up in the post depression and WWII era we did a lot of things because we had to so I wound up being able to do many things. I enjoyed doing that project and wish I could see good enough to restore the 1962 IHC Scout 80 which my dad bought brand new.
Roy, this is a fine restoration. My husband liked it too. My folks had a Jeep station wagon in the fifties. I learned to drive in it and a 1950 Chevy. I ran through a gate in the Jeep and over a pile of rocks in the Chevy. haha. Thanks for sharing this great memory, Roy.
@NaomiWadsworth Thanks Naomi, surprising how these ole vehicles trigger so many good memories. I remember stopping my old 1941 ford on the hiway when some good music came on and getting out and dancing on the hiway. Back in that part of the country (western Nebraska)wasnt much traffic them might see one car every hour or so. Alwys made sure we had plenty of gas and a good spare before taking off.
@deskyles When these came out in the various colors, it was great, up till then, you had very little color choices in vehicles, Black, Green, Grey were the most comon color whether Ford, GM, or Chrysler, so the new colors were a welcome change particularly after the bleak days of WWII.
@JoshWMusic1 Me too, they were easy to work on. For the most part, a 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, a phillips and a slot head screwdriver were all the tools you needed. It had set in a field for about 15 years when I got it, I put a battery in it to turn the motor over to circulate the oil and make sure it wasnt locked up, and even with the old gas in it it started up and ran I was so surprised.
As a fellow vintage auto buff and restorer (I am currently meticulously restoring a 1965 Ford Mustang)...I can easily see the fruits of your labor...and love for this classic motorcar! My next project is the '54 DeSoto Firedome that I told you about.
@stewballmax3 It is a lot of hard work but I enjoyed every minute of it. I have my fathers old 1962 IHC Scout 80 I am having to count on the help of my grand son and it is not one of his priorities. Wishing you the best, I know the DeSoto will be a pleasure to do and will bring back a lot of great memories.
