I started playing guitar 8 or 9 months ago and I was introduced to pantera a few months back and today I couln't be more inspired to play pantera songs. RIP DIMEBAG.
primal concrete sledge has one of the smoothest most natural flowing solos ive ever heard. i pretty much pre when ever i hear it, if not go into full orgasmic convulsions
first gig i ever ever went to, pantera, newport centre south wales UK '92, never EVER heard anything that loud and, as a guitarist, just stood there in awe of dimebag for the whole set getting smashed into by the bodies but never ever took my eyes off him.
10 years ago i bought a lotus strat copy for 20 dollars to learn how to play cowboys from hell and now i play in a band professionally. YOU SAVED ME DIME!!
reached into my closet, picked up my les paul (which at the time i hadent played in almost six months) tuned it up. And automaticly went and learnd MOUTH FOR WAR. solo and all. Then went outside with my pantera shirt on, lite up a fat ass joint and started thinking "man, i could of lost this awsome talent had it not been for dimebag" In the famous words of PanterA's a new level, dimebag gave me "A new level, of power, AND confidence. \m/. RIP MY BROTHA DIME
Dimebag changed my life. He saved me from turning into one of thoses rapping saggin pants idots. I was going the wrong way in life and hanging with the COMPLETELY wrong crowd of ppl. Then one day i got on youtube. Found this (when i was looking for a rap song) and this popped up at the end of the list. So i clicked on it to remind me of the old days. And not even half way into the vid i paused it, went into my room, and thrashed and burned almost all my clothes, gay ass rap cd's, and
i will never forget you...you re still alive when i hear your guitar beats you 're still alive to me i love you i fell in love with your talent. you are always alive dimie!in our hearts in our memories...i wish i was there when that bastard shot you...i would have stood in front of you so the bullet wouldn't have killed you...i just wish i was there...i am proud of you dimie...and i am crying for you...
Dime you still live everyday when I turn on my cd player man or pick up my guitar , I can't express what this guy means to me...Eddie made me pick up the guitar but Dime made me want to TEAR IT UP!!!
Dimebag will never EVER be forgotten, I call my rock and roll radio station every year today, and tell the dj to play a Pantera song to remember Dimebag, so he will never be forgotten. RIP Dime.
It was my mom that has shown me pantera, when I was a child. This music was more than awesome, and still I remember how the riffs of Cemetery Gates made me feel ...
R.I.P DIMEBAG DARRELL (7years) he created the best music i've know, even today you can nothing compare to his guitar playing and his style, and he was a great guy too, his soul live's in his songs further AWESOME
i may not be playing metal currently, but every time i pick up my guitar, Dime is the only hero i have. i have influences, but he is my hero. i honestly dont know what to say. theres so much to say yet im left speechless. RIP brother.
@Smithwrtw How do you like it? I know he was working on the prototype with Dean before he was murdered, but I feel as if the company is just using his name to make money now days. I mean after all they're throwing EMG's and shit on them. Anyway what are your thoughts, because I love his original sig's.
Dime was one of the guys who made me want to pick up the guitar and start to play music, aswell as Vinnie Paul when I started to play around on the drums. He sure looks like the greatest guy and I bet he was really nice. Would have been nice to met him just to get a autograf and share some words of wisdom. Rest in Piece Dime! You sure where one of the greatest.
A few weeks ago, me, a lifelong metalhead and struggling guitarist, was dealing with a bit of personal rage and strongly considering giving up the guitar. In a fit of anger and an attempt to feel better, I turned on Pantera's "Rise" (one of my favorite songs ever,) and it hits me like a ton of bricks: THIS is what music is about. Dime's riffs, tone, licks, crush me, and from that I RISE to the occasion and take my playing more seriously than ever. Love ya Dime. RIP, you wonderful bastard.
Dime was really an incredible player. I wish I could meet and talk to him now I have so much to ask, unfortunately it's too late. One day me and him will jam in the kingdom of heaven! I know he's up there right now havin a beer and kickin' it with Rhoads and Hendrix
honestly, when I first heard dimebag darrell playing cowboys from hell, I never thought that was possible to even play, until he inspired me to play guitar, along with some other guitar players, and now I've been playing for five years, and I am a good guitar player I've been told, but if it werent for dime, I probably never even would've picked up a guitar. thanks Dime \m/ -__- \m/ R.I.P
He might be gone but lives on forever unforgotten never to be forgotten he lives on threw fans like all of us We love you dime forever and a day R.I.P Fly higher than the stars brother You live on forever <3
pantera had groove, that's what set them apart from the pack in the early 90s, dimebag and his brother had pocket. he also was the only guitar player in pantera, going flawlessly back and forth between rhythm and solo is cool as fuck. and this might sound trivial, but he mentioned in a guitar magazine that he carves little hatch marks in his picks so he can grip them better, i still do this to my picks, it works.
@phenom371 No he didn't, all metal was the same, he played it maybe with a krankyer distorted sound but nothing special at the time, when he started playing, tons of Metal bands already existed, it's okay that you enjoy Dimebag, he made really good music, but he wasn't revolutionary.
I don't like how he sounds, to me Dimebag was not revolutionary or special, I respect him as a musican, but Revolutionary was Randy Rhoads, he was a true legend, Dimebag plays pretty damn well but to me he played like all the other out there.
@Macsk8ing Randy wasn't exactly revolutionary. definitely unique though. Hendrix was probably the most revolutionary because nobody in the sixties was playing like he was and he changed the game forever. I do love Randy's playing though. Mr. Crowley gives my ears a music boner.
I was introduced to Dime and Pantera in 1992 at Five Flags in Dubuque Iowa opening for Skid Row. I was in awe! I fell in love with that band that night and are still in my top two along side Kiss. Dimebag Darrell Abbott will live forever in my life!
its so hard to for me to come to grips with the fact he plays Solid State amps. i mean with his tone you would think he's blasting a some nice tube amps
@EvilElmo135 yeah... i call bullshit, he's used Randell Amps for a long time, then switched to kranks, used Marshalls for a bit, but look it up on Guitargeek, PLUS If you look at all the amps in the background.. they are Randells...
@MalteseCross He never actually used the Warhead or the Krank, just letting you know, he played through a prototype model of the Randall RR100 which is a tube amp. He said he did because he was getting paid to say he was using those those amps.
@EvilElmo135 there is a difference between using it in the studio and using it on stage.. he's got the rg100 heads behind him... he's used eveything that I listed above in studio, maybe his stage setup was different sure, but these were all his studio rigs
@MalteseCross I guarantee you he didn't. I have spent the last 2 years of my life listening to Pantera and getting my stage moves and guitar playing like Dimes, he never used a Warhead have you played through one it sounds like shit. It sounds nothing like the recordings. You sir are very stubborn
I used to think Bon Jovi was metal. then I heard GnR, Metallica and then Pantera. and it stops there. Dimebag IS metal. RIP father Dime, happy birthday bro.
Dimebag was one of my main inspirations and still remains to this day.. His style of playing is very unique and the aggression and passion that he played with is unmatched.. RIP \m/!!DIMEBAG!!\m/

When I First listened to Pantera, I Thought: "The sound it's so diry for me!!!" Two seconds later I decided to learn to play guitar just for him, and I did!!
he changed the way i think about music, and its made me change the way i play the guitar. after listening to dimebag i thought what a god, every one would want to be like him, my biggest influence ever, R.I.P DIME!!!
XxHoosierXHoosierxX oh yeah, and 1 more little thing for your idiocy and ignorance. Punk, real punk, is sloppy anyways. So get your facts straight before comparing you little butt monkey.
XxHoosierXHoosierxX dude, u are an idiot. Billie Joe Armstrong=little pop punk monkey that does blink 182 in the bum. Pop punk is even worse then real punk. 3 power chord's during the whole song, with a pretty singing voice, and for the kiddies. Dime is a legend, a real guitarist n' musician. Played real music, everything from chords to scales, and metal just gives pop punk a beat down kid. If your going to make an argument, name a musician or band with some real talent n' skill.
What makes a great guitar player? Anyone who says Dimebag wasnt great at what he did is jus plain ignorant!! Was he Eddie Van Halen, steve vai, Stevie ray? NO! he was Dimebag Darryl, one of the best metal guitar players I've ever had a chance to see live. He was truly one of the greats. R I P
@XxHoosierXHoosierxX Nice copying and pasting. Anything else you actually want to point out other than Green Day of all things? Gonna name some other shitty artist as another argument? Nice, didn't see that one coming. Now you're going to go one about how we're dorks, yadda yadda yadda, just shut up already. You've posted this comment on at least 500 other videos just to "troll" us, and to be honest you're not doing a very good job. Put in some effort while saying your minuscule opinions.
@XxHoosierXHoosierxX yeah,he writes a song called 21 guns with a ridicolous falsetto voice...go fuck yourself, listen to some clash if you like that 3 idiots called green day...what a prick
This is actually the first time I hear him talk.It gets me all fuckin' emotional, man.Such a nice guy! I will remember him as one of my life-changing (you said it) heroes, right next to Chuck Schuldiner.
Daannnnggg I never realized how dirty the guitar riff for walk was, haha. When you hear it with the drums barely audible and the guitar more pronounced, it's just amazinggg.
@dalton11lip Damn mannnn. Your guitar teacher is harsh. Well as an excperience thrash and heavy metal guitarist of 9 long years i can tell you myself that it CAN happen. You jus have to want to really bad and give it your all. Thats why i never took lessons in my life. Cuz every guitar teacher is so damn negitive jus cuz they're stuck with a borin 9-5 job and never made it.
when I first started to play the guitar my guitar teacher asked me "so what do you want to do when you get a job?" to which i said "to be the best thrash metal guitarest ever" and he said "trust me you won't be" now i see why
I was in Guitar Center yesterday, lookin around for a guitar. Im looking at this wall because a Razorback Explosion caught my eye. I looked at the bottom row for a sec and when I lifted my head there was a Dean from Hell staring me right in the eye. I felt my heart stop, then I went to a Marshall to do SEVERAL Dime squeals! The playability on it was fantastic! To bad I couldnt afford it...
btw if you hate his glam era playing, think, if he had never played anything van halen style we wouldn't have as many awesome solos and songs. only another slayer with messy kk or jeff solos
I heared your dad was a baby raper too. He probably raped you when you were a baby. So just shut the fuck up! And I think pretty much everyone will back me up. >=l
You want me to let you know how Dimemade a difference in my life? I remember drinking shots in between sets at the circle in the square in Shreveport. I was able to open for them a couple of times. But way beyond that. He was my friend and I love him!!!!!

XxHoosierXHoosierxX oh yeah, and 1 more little thing for your idiocy and ignorance. Punk, real punk, is sloppy anyways. So get your facts straight before comparing you little butt monkey.
TheBarfBall 6 months ago

Dimebag sucks balls at guitar, an overrated pathetic excuse for a guitar player.
Just because hes dead all you nerds make it out like he is amazing when in fact he just really sucks balls at guitar. GET OVER IT DORKS
Billie Joe Armstrong > Dimebag
Atleast he doesnt play sloppy and actually writes good music.,,,,,
XxHoosierXHoosierxX 6 months ago

I would be happy if there's a tab for the intro of the this love solo :O

when I first started to play the guitar my guitar teacher asked me "so what do you want to do when you get a job?" to which i said "to be the best thrash metal guitarest ever" and he said "trust me you won't be" now i see why
