I stumbled across this song by wandering through a dear You Tube friend's favs. It is so long ago since I listened to this album, but I realise why I thought back than it was nothing less than a masterpiece. It touched my heart than, just as it does now.
The vibes and double bass give this album a signature sound that carries throughout the album. Jazz meets folk psychedelia. Timeless and something that somehow defies description and absolute comprehension.
this is simply one of the best songs i've ever heard. EVER. Not much beats the absolute completeness of this piece of art. Damn! Mr. Morrison congratulations. And the horns and the bass line =fuhgeddaboutit.
warning ! dont drive with this song blaring in the car, you'll get a speeding ticket, its full of emotion and power which seems to go straight to my right foot out of over excitment and over participation in singing along ,you have been warned !
listening to this album through for the first time...now my day is shot from listening to every word. Have to have lived a little bit to get alot of this.
@liamkeating2010 yeah its a good song but if you listen to the song Sweet Thing i honestly think its the best song on the album gets me every single time i listen to it.....
Rolling Stone Magazince called this a poor jazz-flavoured cut... Idiots! I have driven from Hull to Leeds (60 miles) and listened to this one song over and over. It's that good. What about that bass line!
I was diggin this song when I was 18 years old in 1970 ! ! ! It was the BEST for me. I was a teen girl and wanting my future guy to feel this way about me. This tune said it ALL for me back then. I never found a guy who had this much soul ! Guess I should have gone to Ireland, huh.
Yes, a magnificent song from one of the greatest rock-jazz albums. Will never stop listening to it. But the great rythm is thanks to the American jazz guys who played on it.
the power and strengh ....and joy of this piece of work from start to finish is mind blowing and to someone with an EAR kills most other's entire catolog's
this is so bitchin i love van the man. if you get a chance to get bulbs live at montreux jazz festival ita a choice watch. love the post and the album thanks so much.
i am proud to say that i recommended this album to 1000s of van fans on other 'live' posts - i honestly believe that it's one of those unique recordings (like blonde on blonde and stationtostation) where one simply has to own a cd or, especially, vinyl copy of one's own...there is nothing like the sound quality and musical detail of the original stereo pressing...which is van's main reason for pulling 'you tube' postings.
So dramatic song. Wonderful job. A beauty. Awesome. Love that trumpet solo. Super.

Van's music is not intelligent.
Van's music is not beautiful.
Van's music is not complex.
Van's music is not 'good'.
Van's music is just MAGIC. That is the only epithet one can use to describe his music.
