@ohmphthschwrhu You´re overreacting, I didn´t mean a big mistake, and Steve didn´t know the answer to the questions, so it can´t have been racism, but I do think that he could have apoligized to the guy that said french fries, but the truth is that the Krueger family would have lost anyway, they would have guessed the next question wrong, and Riley would have guessed Fried Chicken. And Krueger didn´t get mad. And Steve Harvey is one of the best hosts ever.

Im thinking your notation was a screw up too! French Fries was the word they copied on both sides. This is not a screw-up. If you blurt out an additional answer while giving your own answer, it's like you're trying to drop a hint for your other family members. So your own team will not be allowed to use that answer...but the other team must still have the right to give that answer. Otherwise you could intentionally sabotage the other team by giving 4 or 5 answers at once after you get 2 strikes, taking away its chance to steal.

You have the reason why his answere wasn't accepted in the video. His Dad said, "steak and potatoes" so it's considered that he gave two answers so his team member can choose the other. Steve Harvey said, You can't say french fries because your dad said potatoes. It's not racism it's the rules of the show. People can cheat by giving two answer at once and another family member can get the second part if the first doesn't fly.
The Kruegers had already used the answer potatoes for Steak and Potatoes. Can't use the same answer twice. However the producers should have caught that and offered another round to avoid confusion.
His only real mistake was saying you can't say french fries and yeah that is just to bad, but really with the stake and potatoes he first answer was "Steak" followed by stake and potatoes. So that sucks for them but thats life it happens

Since he added "potatoes" as an afterthought, it was treated as if he yelled the answer out of turn (like trying to give a hint), so they disqualified that team from answering it. The other team was allowed to answer it because no one yelled it out of turn, and they didn't tack on another food to make the answer incorrect.
Steve looked a little lost when she gave that answer. He wasn't sure what to do or maybe he couldn't believe that the judges allowed that answer.

When the elder Kreuger said Steak & fries, he obviated junior Kreugers ability to use the term French fries,because, oviously french fries are potatoes. You have the reason why his answere wasn't accepted in the video. His Dad said, "steak and potatoes" so it's considered that he gave two answers so his team member can choose the other. Steve Harvey said, You can't say french fries because your dad said potatoes. It's not racism it's the rules of the show. People can cheat by giving two answer at once and another family member can get the second part if the first doesn't fly.

@DawnFaerie If you look closely, you'll notice they stopped tape before Steve said "You can't say French Fries." That's probably when the crew advised of the detailed rule: since Dad technically yelled out "potatoes" in addition to his initial answer of "steak," it disqualified any related answers (such as potato-based french fries) to be playable for that team. It's basically like Dad gave his entire team a hint. But the other team didn't "cheat," so the answer was still on the table for them.

@DawnFaerie The best comparison I can draw is if you're on Jeopardy and you blurt out an answer without buzzing in - YOU'RE not going to get the credit for it, but one of your opponents can buzz in and use that same answer. Same thing applies here - the team gave an illegal answer so it was off the table for them, BUT since the other team never did anything wrong, and it was never mentioned whether French Fries was correct or incorrect, there was nothing stopping them from using it.

If this show isn't rigged, then it's just completely unfair. "Steak" was the answer given- but even if it was "steak and potatoes", those are two things distinct from "french fries". If, however, Harvey/the show consider "steak and potatoes" and "french fries" to be the same answer, why wasn't the team credited with a correct answer for "steak (and potatoes)/french fries", since the other team WAS credited with a correct answer for "steak and potatoes/french fries? Lawsuit.

Since he added "potatoes" as an afterthought, it was treated as if he yelled the answer out of turn (like trying to give a hint), so they disqualified that team from answering it. The other team was allowed to answer it because no one yelled it out of turn, and they didn't tack on another food to make the answer incorrect.
