hes working with 7 year old balance principles. if he keeps the leg straight he will more successfully counter balance his weight. its also easier to utilize the gluteus muscles in the leg when extended, which helps lift the leg and hold it.

yeah but if you want to send power to your target you need to chamber. I know plenty of young kids that correctly chamber and execute their kicks.
