  • Sorry, but I read Dildo's Lament :D. Btw nice

  • Nice modern take on this aria! Klaus Nomi's version remains my favorite, but I like yours as well.

  • also, very nice job indeed!

  • who was it that sung it originally?

  • not bad, but you should give more sadness to your voice.......didone is desperate 'cause she's abandoned by enea dear...............

  • This was quite nice, very accessible for a younger audience. Wish you had finished it a little more at the end, but lovely all the same.

  • This would be great for a movie soundtrack!! Very awesome! Can't believe you made this. :)

  • In this version of Henry Purcell's song, the deep melancholy is being transmuted into an ethereal, Buddhistic neutrality. I hope that you will also prepare such versions of other songs of Purcell, most notably: "Fatal Hour", "O let me weep", "Sweeter than roses", "See, even night herself is here", "Bid the virtues", "No Stars again shall hurt you from above"...

  • A diamond of such divine purity can sparkle in a thousand different ways!. Personally, I was moved by this.....

  • I thought this would suck. I was wrong.

  • @ceoparis thank you! you're so kind ^^

  • I am a huge fan of the original version of the lament, but this version is great too.

    Thanks for making it!

  • How did you create the backing music?

  • @sly3xx I used Garage Band..

  • Is there a way I can download this? I love this more modern version and want to add it to my nanowrimo playlist :P

  • @thefirstpurple thanks so much for your interest! pm me ur email and I can email u :)

  • OMG! Amazing! And Im hard on music.

  • Pues ...simplemente precioso.

Solo con la sensibilidad suficiente, o incluso la mitad

  • Too fast. Also, When you hit a note, hit that note and stay there. You slur up to notes and that makes it sound sloppy, and like a child. Just a little tip. Other than that, sounds good.

  • I enjoyed, more please.

  • Very nice!!

  • I think your version of this song is absolutely beautiful. I wish I could download it so i could always listen to it. SPECTACULAR JOB!!!!

  • I think your version of this song is absolutely beautiful. I wish I could download it so i could always listen to it. SPECTACULAR JOB!!!!

  • that was incredible! I sing that song a lot to myself but after hearing your version I am in love with it! Can you cover other rare classics?

  • ¡Horrible!, un aria de opera es un aria lírica. Si desea cantar música popular está mal enfocada.

  • @ceci323lia Purist!

  • bleh :(

all you did was add a drum track. i think you should leave this alone.

  • @grampskvideo err...there's also a bass line and some other ambient percussion effect in case you didn't catch that.

  • Rather etheral and approaching the macabre..... On the other hand, quite appealing to the morose and dark stirings of the heart ; rather indicative of the fear in all men of death. Thanks! :)

  • sounds like alittle racism with these last three comments, or are you just jealous that this "ASIAN" really nailed it?

  • @strgaltdel typical classical snob! Asians have no emotions?! Really? Since when did you become an expert in that? Who made you God?

  • feels soulless... emotionless.... monotonous....

  • I LOVE IT

  • I would like so much to hear even more intensity in this music. It is like the last words, the indomitable and endless regret. But thank you so much for the realization.

  • Inspiringly healing give thanks, one love!

  • Wow this is amazing!

  • I love your version! Haunting and melancholy at the same time. Would you mind if I add this to my novel playlist?

  • @serenity0324 not all all! Thanks so much for your comment!!

  • Interesting. Dido is suppose to be a mature woman with a great grief in her heart. You renditions almost sound "childish" (not in a bad way), just like death was some sort of return to innocence. Great work!

  • very nice spin on this piece. very nicely done.

  • this is great: who's performing here???

I had the idea too to restyle it

  • @chillingfactor it's me :)

  • AWESOME! I'm studying this atm and was looking for different interpretations and LOVE LOVE LOVE this! Genius!

  • @Atanomida OH thank you thank you! You study music too? What school u going to?

  • say it again - wow, nice arrangement, i mean really nice

  • @spihja thanks so much ^^

  • Biiiitch, this is if off the hook. I am an avid Janet Baker fam of this aria. But you put a spin on it that I will never forget!! Excellent. However, I didn't care much for the beginning; it almost sounded like a small child singing a lullaby. Unless, ofcourse, that's what you were going for.

  • @fitnisfrk thanks so much ^^ yea I agree with the beginning part.. just duno what to do with it :p

  • Wonderful, absolutely wonderful, very very little vibrato - Ultra feminine - BRAVO!

  • nice idea

  • I Like that

  • This is a really good cover of Henry Purcell's aria, you're really talented!!

    bravo, j'adore.

  • @lasaola thanks for being so kind ^^

  • Asthma?

  • beautiful tone,,just remember your breathing is also picked up in the microphone, develop breathing that is more abdominal than chest.

  • wow nicely done

did you do all this your self? backdrops, effects etc?

    so well done!

  • @liosama Yea.. Thanks so much :)

  • I only knew the Jeff Buckley version of this aria (and I really recommend everybody to listen to it! Awesome version, very intense and passionate... I always get goosebumbs when I listen to it, especially when thinking of his life and its sad ending). From there, I startet clicking through the related videos and finally found another version that I like and that gave me goosebumps - yours! Thank you for that. Beautiful voice, a very beautiful & modern approach.

  • @pottjott Thanks so much, that means alot to me :)

  • i much prefer the original lol its all us brits got ;) beautiful voice though and your well pretty x

  • i really enjoyed your interpretation and you have a lovely voice.

  • @lascanillas Thanks so much!

  • Very interesting...I think you did a really great and original job here. Congratulations! I love it! :)

  • @mischadarnell Thanks :)

  • Nice try but I don't think sooooo!

  • @Leinaah Thanks anyways :p

  • Wow, I have listened to most of the recordings of this Purcell masterpiece on Youtube, 99% of which sound like fat ladies who have been eating steroid pills - with bloated over done vibrato -

Your sweet and natural voice comes across beautifully - and we get to hear the lyrics too - lovely, please do some more - Bravo!

  • @hootersnooter Thanks ^^

  • beautiful! amazing :)

  • @clairenunavut Thanks!

  • air .... fend

  • yES! lOVELY. bE NICE TO MAKE IT POPULAR & MORE COMMONLY KNOWN AND APPRECIATED. How did you do the backing? Very haunting rendition.

  • @flumoxed38 thanks! And backing? What do you mean?

  • amazing......you combine the classical and pop element^^

    are you chinese?

  • @MrDdduck thanks! And yep!

  • I'm also a classical singer, but I love this! When I first looked at this, I honestly didn't expect it to be very good, but I was proven wrong! Good job. :)

  • @kattygoesfwah Thanks so much! It means even more to me the fact that you are a classical singer. Thank you!! :D

  • I am a classical singer and thought I would despise this, but this was really interesting to me! I think you should add some kind of extra percussion of texture to the second time "when I am laid in earth" is sung in the aria to better build to the "remember me" parts a little more, and do something more climactic with the "remember me" parts. :) really cool though!

  • @kescott105 thanks so much for your comment :) You don't know how much it means to me because u're a classical musician! Many classical musician can't accept what I do here, so thanks so much again for your comment! I agree with all that you've said. I was really just starting to use the program I used to make this, so I didn't really know how to make it sound better, but if I have to remake this, I definitely would remember your comments!

  • @kescott105 I would just like to echo this comment. I too am a classical singer (mostly) but I'm very impressed by this, especially if you really did it between 1am and 5am one morning! As kescott105 says, a bit more intensity as it builds up would be good, but it sounds great.

  • i enjoyed the song and loved the photo!

  • @hc1989 thanks :)

  • didos lament is so beautiful but this "version" would be ok played in your local walmart or better still in the bin

  • @Max3851 wow.. thanks for commenting anyways. My first hate comment here, hahahahaha. I'll make sure this version would be published for your local Walmart, and for your purchase so you can happily throw it to your waste basket for your amusement. I'm so sorry that instead of play pranks to your own friends, you got no one to send nasty comments to but me, a stranger far far away in Hong Kong. Happy April Fool's Day!

  • i LOVE the way you sing, this is my new fav song and this song is amazing! I like the way this is than the way the operatic way is,

    A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!

  • @cuteis147 thanks so much!! I'm glad you like my take on it.

  • You know, as a staunch fan of the original version, I didn't think I'd like this. But I love it. :) Job well done.

  • Thanks so much! I'm a big fan of the original too :)

  • Pleasant tune... but... for some reason I keep getting flashbacks of "the Grudge". I think it has something to do with that echoing instrument... kinda creepy.

  • hahaha sorry if I scared ya :p

  • it is really great!
