In 05 they seized over 1.4 billion dollars in drug trade related assets and over $445 million in actual drugs. Considering the DEA isn't all that big, I'd say that's pretty damn good. Now Imagine what the border patrol seizes every year along with ATF, FBI, local law enforcement etc. I'd say there doing pretty well considering there restrictions.

Why don't they? The DEA is pretty much being leased from the United States to Afghanistan, because the taliban are taking the money they get from selling the opium and using it to pay for their gear to fight the coalition troops. Afghanistan has 1 third of the worlds opium crops.
