Mn you have good home speakers that can handle at least 200 watts and a good home amp with a record or cd on this song and CRANK IT UP and you are in HEAVEN!!! Can I get a HELL YA?
I had to bust out my High 'N' Dry Casette tape today. This song is playing right now. My Sanyo Boombox is broken so you can't turn the volume down. It ALWAYS plays at Maximum Volume.
@Dunwyche Honestly Its a tie for me but this is the thing..My first tape EVER bought was Pyromania back in 84. I heard High and Dry later. So my No.1 is Pyro....But They BOTH are the pinnacle if you ask me. The 2 BEST alums EVER made by DEF LEPPARD PERIOD
@Rorschachxx1985 I do like ON THROUGH THE NIGHT please dont get me wrong but for me the top three albums are Pyromania, High and Dry , and On Through the Night!! Hello America is the first song I EVER heard of Def Lep on the radio and I thought they ROCKED.
I remember driving by a school while basting this song. A kid was walking by and I yelled to him "HIT IT". He just looked back confused, he jest don't get it!
I played ths album and On Through The Night repeatedly every day for months in 1983. Even though I am just hearing it now again for the first time in almost 30 yrs, I still know every lyric and chord. Today I find it amazing that a 15 year-old kid discovered what would be one of the greatest albums of all time. What a gift!! RIP STEVE CLARK, your genius and talent is truly missed!
i have a lot of 80s Metal cds but i have more cassete tapes which i still treasure. cassete tapes? yes crank it up!! ynt, triumph, kingdom come, motley crue's shout at the devil, whitesnake, saxon, old metallica if u know what i mean, megadeth, tesla, great white, whitelion, cinderella, europe, scorps, kix, vixen, warlock, anthrax, dokken, ozzy with jake e lee, badlands, lizzy borden, omen, britny fox, queensryche . . .
This is it. like im going back in time. back when i was 15 or 16 in 1986 or somewhere around there. this is the record that got me into metal and also Iron maiden's somewhere in time, judas priest's screaming for vengeance, black sabbath's heaven and hell( what a record), savatage's hall of the mountain king, wasp's headless children, loudness's theunder in the east and a whole lot more. kids? trust me. those are good for the heart. it's healthy.
@PEDROCLASSIC i agree, flash back.we are about the same age and i remember wearing the vinyl and tape version of this out!i love the unrefined classic sound of their early days.this was their second lp.their first on through the night is even better!songs like wasted were some of the first songs i learned how to play.glad to see your post
@PEDROCLASSIC you and fingers wrote the words in my head! My "babysitter" brought this cassette over in 1981 or '82 and played it. I was an unsuspecting 10 year old kid. It knocked me on my f-in ass! I just sat there staring at the speakers. I still get those same feelings all over again hearing it now. Goddamn, this was/is amazing stuff.
esta es una o mi banda de rock favorita, aun que high and dry no fue una de sus mas exitosas producciones para mi la mayoria de las canciones fueron muy buenas.
