Thanks for your nice comment. A. C. Gilbert made over 30 million erector sets between 1913 to 1959. Being metal and made to last, many sets and parts still survive. I encourage anyone interested to go on Ebay and buy themselves a couple sets and start building. Or, pass them along to your kids and grandkids. They will have loads of fun building things. And you'll have fun helping them.
A few people have been kind enough to mention that the flag on the shop wall is shown backwards. They are correct. Hanging vertical, the stars should have been shown on the top left side. Unfortunately, the mistake was not noticed until after the video was shot. Did you also notice that it is a 48 star flag? This version was in use during the 1920's since Alaska and Hawaii were not yet states.
totally wonderful! as the ebayer that supplied some of the Meccano pieces from England I have that inner glow to see them action. A total masterpiece! thank you
Thanks for your nice comment. There was no master plan other than a general idea in my head that I wanted it to be a tool shop. I built the tools first and tried different configurations. Next step was to tie it all in with power and motors. It just evolved over a long period of time. Of the 600 or so man hours involved, perhaps 90% of that time was spent in planning, engineering and prototypes.
Fine work. For the next one, use Raymond Scott's "Powerhouse" for the soundtrack. ;-)

Thanks for the parts and thanks for the nice words. My goal in posting this video is that others will be motivated to make similar projects.

Very cool! Did you draw up a master plan before starting or was it completely by the seat of your pants?
