This is so terribly sad... I lived in Venice from '93-95 and depopulation was an issue even back then - the Venetian culture, food, dialect, songs etc. are truly unique.... Sadly this is not Venice's only problem - the sea levels are rising too fast to keep up with the floodgates which were recently built (Project MOSE) - visit Venice while it is still there to enjoy...
