  • @mark22160 absolutely spot there...they're just high brow tuxedo and frock wearing tribute acts to the rock stars and pop stars of the past 400 or so years! In another 100 years the electric guitar, bass and drums will be essential for any supposedly classical orchestra!

  • Here's a thought - are the great classical orchestra's of the world nothing more than tribute bands, because all they play are covers of Back, Beethoven and all the other classical composers?

  • Well it does seem like the shoe is on the other foot. Thanks

Those that can, do (or try to) , those that can't, just whinge.

  • I would like to comment about the Mega Avenger post

So what if he has a Chinese made les paul copy, Its more important that he plays the music. By having a Gibson les paul will that make he play more like Kossoff.

Do the rest of the band have the same as Free's equipment ? The main thing is they sound and play like them and above all enjoy it.. I like the tribute bands, especially if the original are no longer available. Ive seen this band and Free at last and both are good,

  • re: cover bands suck..CREAM-HENDRIX-ROLLING STONES all cover other folks music. Every classical music concert you've never been to, is covering someone's music. Ever been to an all mosart show? Well if SOMEONE can actually make music & admires a certain artist & plays numbers by lets say FREE right on! You don't like it stick to cartoons OR DON'T GO. I saw JHE 2 shows in LA. SAW RANDY HANSEN play w/MITCH MITCHELL (I was his agent) & then BUDDY MILES & it was F'N 100% BRILLIANT!

  • guitar player sounds really good, guitar tone is right on, good vibrato as well.

  • respect to Free and Paul Kossoff but i cant stand cover bands who try to reproduce the greats of rock. their are just like them chinese reprducing gibson les pauls..because they cannot do their own staff

    it sucks

  • Yes, you are right. I feel a little uncomfortable with tribute bands. Personally,I have always felt that a tribute band should be more like a 19th century impressionist painting rather than a photograph. But fair play, horses for courses, plenty of people, including the band members, get a lot of pleasure hearing their favourite music being played live, sometimes this is the only way as many of the original bands no longer exist.

And, luckily we all have other projects to be creative in.

  • AND WE RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY.

On the whole, I would rather be doing this than not.

  • @izzeem13 yeah thats a very good deed.but love Paul Kossoff`s guitar style and vibrato but art its about espression Paul expressed his notes with that amazing bending and vibrato, but people get enchanted with his persona i mean there are millions of guitarists out there who learn 2 riffs just simply to show they can play guitar, but in all respect they dont understand love music at all they just wanna hide behind the guitar neck,a guitar is a massive mean ofhuman expression..

    Paul Kossoff rip

  • @MegaAvenger2010

There was, and only will be, ONE Paul Kossoff.

I was lucky enough to see Free live on a number of occassions, supported Free and Mott The Hoople on tour in England in 1972 and, played with Koss, in one of the versions of back Street Crawler, for a short while. So I know that NOBODY plays guitar like Koss.

Stay cool and keep enjoying his music.

    Regards

  • @MegaAvenger2010 Hey, you knicker wearing puff! Dont dis Chinese Les Pauls. My Fu Manchu Gold Top made out of the finest privet stops in tune for a full 5 minutes and the Cac-o-tronic pick ups sound great if you use your imagination. So kiss my arse!

  • @MegaAvenger2010 You are talking bollocks.. They do this for charity!!! and Please go back to school and learn how to spell.. " Because they cannot do their on staff " --- Its Stuff you dim wit

  • His father was a True Gentleman and Paul a True Genius

Sadly missed ! But Never Forgotten

  • What eric clapton guitar is it? was it claptons 59 les paul?

  • Where can you view the whole gig?

  • @cazulu3

Don't know how long it will take to edit, convert and upload whole video but I have dvds and as long as you don't live 'off planet' I would be willing to send you a copy.

  • izzeem13 I'm moved to watch a such tribute

now adays it's a double tribute both for the great actor David Kossoff

and his son the unforgettable gifted guitarist Paul

and about David Clayton ? still links with the FAS ?

merci encore pour cette vidéo :-)

  • i need translator! or better: learn inglish!

  • Español? No un problema. Cargaré una traducción.

  • seria fantastico, gracias!

  • It's such a pity that the people in the audience were so ignorant that they could not even shut up while his Father was speaking about him and and history of his music.

    David Kossoff was a gentleman.

  • Yes, unfortunately the only recording I have was off the video camera mike on the balcony at the back of the hall.

I was lucky enough to have known Paul and David and both were outstanding, fine and gentle men.

  • @izzeem13 Do you have the full recording of this as I went to see to see this tribute in about 1986 and have been trying to get hold of it on disc for years but it is not available.

  • Yes, over all these years I still have a very special place in my heart for Free and "All right now" and also for David as he was such a well known personality and such an inspirational man whose grief over the loss of Paul touched all those who were around at that time.

He exuded such love and affection to his beloved son. Yes, so inspirational.

You are very fortunate to have known them.
