with all do statistical respect extrapolating from the most recent trend in what has obvious been a nonlinear equation isn't a sound mathematical basis for future projections. I'm not saying that you aren't right in general trends, but in this one case you can't extrapolate as much as was done.
What happened is the United Church started teaching the ministers that an 'interventionalist' deity did not exist. Therefore there was no one to preach about. Jesus was dead, and so was God. Therefore people left. People can smell when something isn't right and the faith is not adhered to.
From my observation, (based on 20 years of exp), the United Church life was filled with fluff and foolishness, too much entertainment in worship, not enough Word. There were so many of us busy with 'committees' and 'projects' and 'activities'. We weren't serving the true God. We weren't living in repentence and weren't living by grace through faith.
What was missing? The true God as revealed through Christ, and His Word (the Bible).
I can comment on this video folks. I was part of the United Church (Dartmouth, NS) for 25 yrs, from birth, and into my young adulthood. During this time, I never really learned *anything* about God or Christ, or justification and sanctification, or sin, or the trinity, or covenant theology, ....the list goes on.
I left the United Church 4 yrs ago, and since became a member of a reformed bible-believing church where the gospel is preached. (That's where the protestant reformation came from...)
@MrPaul1872 I feel the same way. Only now am I learning about God and that is away from the United church.
I learned more at the Baptist church, Mars Hill Church and the Bible answer man show in 1 year, than my entire life at the United church. Read the Bible.
During my time in the United Church, I was never saved, I was never reborn, I never really prayed nor read the bible, and I never heard the Gospel preached.
I never received any Godly admonishment nor council (using the bible) for problems or troubles or struggles I had. No one ever said: "lets pray about that" or "can you pray with me?" or "you know it says in Romans that...."
So, in short I conclude that, the people around me and I really were never walking with Christ.
I think this videos charts should be overlayed with the major policydoctrin changes in the united church...In my opinion, a good deal of the problem is the rapid spread of liberalism in the church.
So.... sell all the property and have one giant 'going out of business' sale. Send half the proceeds to missions and the other half for one giagantic pizza party, nationwide, to which everyone is invited. (Vegetarian, Vegan, and low-Carb pizzas available for those on special diets.) Release a million balloons and go out with a shout.

the fact that there's been only one email response to this video in the past year speaks volumes about how irrelevant the UCC is to you tube viewers.
