  • Ő KEITH RELF.

Jimmy Page csak egy gitáros volt, aki rátelepedett a Yardbirds-re.

  • Oh Rosy, Oh girl, Oh Rosy, Oh Girl , Steal away baby Steal away.....

  • All without an A string. Jimmy is the man!

  • wow. its cool to see someone play real rock music

  • goes off into a psychodelic break with all the lights on... very daring! our band was one of the first and very few in the world to have a strobe light show. 1967! This was the song we used to do it with.. water stop freezing like ice, white coil cords spinning freeze frame in the air like a helicopter propeller sideways painted white! then we would turn the light on the crowd and they would go crazy! I was 14 and we were the number 2 band in the Tulsa Ok! Rogues 5 was #1. Great days!

  • STUD!

  • JIMMY PAGE is the master of THE ROCK N ROLL yeahhhhhhhhhh

  • this is terrific - the band so obviously light years ahead of the audience in style and attitude ...

  • @teknofonix I agree, except the audience is dancing up a storm ... well ... not really. lol.

  • stupid whitey jajaja

  • i think pages guitar has only 5 strings on it (ones busted) - nice!

  • I wish the video showed more of Jimmy Page. Still I love it. The Yardbirds were great.

  • i didnt know he used the violin bow with the yardbirds...cool

  • Gene Genie --- did Muddy Waters steal this from bowie

  • How this three bastards had found this video???

  • Ohhh Keith Relf. Your voice was SO sexy! We lost you too soon.

  • SOMETIMES I FORGET I LIVE IN MARIN COUNTY "JIMMI PAGE" IF YOUR GOING TO SAN FRANSICO YOUR GONNA MEET A LOT OF DEVIL PEOPLE THERE,EVERYWHERE!!!" I DON'T LIKE THIS PLACE"KEVIN O'CONNELL"

  • When Pagey pulls out the bow....it's like the 60's dies, and the bloated rock of the 70's is born. No dis to him, he's an amazing guitarist, but this song is symbolic of where rock music was headed - away from the great, simple raw shit, into 20 minute solo over indulgence.

  • Page's guitar looks like it is missing a string hehehe

  • @WWFinurhouse yup, the A string is gone

  • Like the way Jimmy fucks up the rhythym at 3:09 and everyone is like, "Wha...?""

  • @MediaFilter He doesn't fuck it up he starts jam away...

  • @MediaFilter it's "rhythm" not "rhythym" so YOU fucked up there. Oh, and you say "Jimmy fucks up the rhythym at 3:09" at 3:09 he's playing a perfectly good solo, so, not sure what you mean by that..I'm just going to assume you fucked up, again.

  • @ThatsSoInane It's pretty sad that you're arguing the merits of Jimmy Page with someone who, judging by the way you act, has been listening to Zep for longer than you've been alive. It must feel shitty not to be able notice small nuances in music. Whatever. Even the greatest make mistakes. That includes my typo.

  • Brilliant version

  • White Blues Rhythm, all the geek scientists trying to dance, but are paralyzed by the thought of their world destruction. Their brain can't engage their feet,, a new Eugenics Program, physically crippled! Dance to the drummer of your destruction, you were never a healthy robust specimen to begin with!!!!!!

  • @PrincessLouLizzyLou Lady you sound just about crazy enough for me to want to have sex with you this instant.

  • @johnnystulic42 Princess LOU. Get it? As in Lou Reed?

  • @ valsokfier I agree.. when the concept of cute music videos , get's stale,..Real Rock, won't ever die. There is a woman who personanally chose to destroy MM, She did it around 1987.

  • This band sucks. Rock & Roll was never played this bad. WTF?

  • @manfromregina This is the first wave of the "British Invasion". Actually bold for the time period...white english boys playing black mans' blues music. One year later the mighty Led Zeppelin was formed w/ Jimmy Page on guitar (you can see him in this video) and his talent is obvious. Good day, bro!

  • @manfromregina

    are you for real???????

Go get your fucking ears checked.......

  • @manfromregina

Without The Yardbirds - we in all likelihood would not have had Cream, Led Zeppelin and The Jeff Beck Group - I suppose you think they sucked as well?

  • cover by orange sunshine is pretty good

  • Damn

  • at about 4:00 their just stretching their legs and then its on! thanks for the post.

  • Forget the all the bullshits and lets ROCK N ROLL

  • che pezzoneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

  • people dancing are so confused

  • I wonder if Mr. Page noticed one of his guitar strings was missing? (4:12) Keith Relf could really wail the blues on the harp!

  • @Citizen110 Him and Mick Jagger are probably two of the best Harp players of the whole British Blues/ 60`s era.

  • @brandonlace Yeah, Mick is pretty good, but Brian Jones was no slouch, either. I wonder if you may be confusing the two of them, especially on the early Stones tunes? Check out this video here on youtube. Its called Rolling Stones-I Just Want To Make Love To You-Live 1964. The Stones are playing live on some TV show hosted by Dean Martin, who really cuts them down pretty bad, as far as introductions go!

  • @Citizen110 no I`m not confused, and I would agree that Brian was a good Harp player as well, hell he pretty much could play any instrument known to man.

  • Hey! You guys over there arguing!

Chill out and make up, both of you. We're over here rocking out and having a great time.

  • Wow ! To the last dozen or so comments. This isn't about politics or who's the better guitar player of all times. It's a video capturing a glimpe of the past when music was where it was at. Soooo coool!

  • what is the drummer's name?

  • @Beatles1965Fan Dan McCarty, very good drummer.

  • @Beatles1965Fan - Jim McCarty

  • Your Kidding This IS the Shit that started it all,,as a Guitar player,,a Gibson ofcoarse,,(aGibson Flying Vee),,This IS why I play guitar,,I also have a 1967 Fender Telecaster,,I think with that guitar I will do some Yardbird covers,,,,Way to cool,,,,And yes sand is to the EYES as Rap is to the EARS,,

  • Sweet ass rockin rrrollllllll

  • Bo Diddley.

  • Hard to believe people dressed up to go to a concert with ties lol

  • Jesus why does every music video I look at on Youtube have political bullshit or arguments about the artist or comparisons with people like Justin Beiber in the comments? Who gives a shit? Listen to the damn music and shut your mouth!

  • @valsoldier03

    Right On Man!

  • @valsoldier03 Keep you shirt on sonny :)

  • There is a moment when he goes Marty McFly...the audience look like "What the blue-blazers (they didn't say f unless under fire back then)"

  • Anyone know what harmonica he's using in this?

  • Man these cats are IMMORTALIZED and those folks in the audience had no clue...AWESOME! Love me some Yardbirds!

  • JP is getting a lot of crunch of that tele here

  • this has to be jimmy's greatest solo ever. PERIOD

  • lejos para su época........

  • I'd like to see the three douches that gave this a thumbs down.

  • " SHITHOT!!!! love it!!!

  • yardbirds bluesbreakers animals nuf said absolute

  • Mindig csak Jimmy Page-t említik, pedig KEITH RELF, aki a zenekart alapította és a zenéket szerezte. Amikor Jimmy bekerült a zenekarba csodák-csodája Keith-et gyorsan kitúrták. Keith alapított egy másik zenekart a Renaissance-t, amivel szintén népszerű lett. Jimmy csak csatlakozott valamihez, önállóan mit hozott létre? Szerzett esetleg egy-két jó számot?

  • The Europeans have been at least five years ahead of us for at least 50 years. The Yardbirds preceded so many other bands for 40 years in North America. We were lead by the nose as to what "should" be popular for so many decades, and this tendency persists until this day.

  • @EllJayAitch The Yardbirds preceded the white most of the blues-rock bands of America, ( not Paul Butterfield & Charlie Musselwhite's bands), but they were copying the black blues bands of America, who preceded English blues by decades.

  • KILLER!! One the best things I've seen on YouTube in an age. Thanks for sticking this up...A

  • The Yardbirds were my favorite band of the '60's. They took music to places never heard before. This version is a wonderful example. Listen to "I'm a Man" by Clapton, then Beck, then Page and you will see how each guitarist took the song further into extended play rock and roll. This band laid the foundation for Cream, Led Zepplin, Blind Faith, the Jeff Beck Group and other bands that were inspired by their musicianship.

IF the Beatles reflected their time, the 'birds were the future.

  • an underratted beatles type pop (completely different) the kinks. and an underratted rolling stones type band (somewhat similar) the small faces.

  • Yardbirds were good, I listened to them a lot, due to musical arrangements. Still do, but I suspect it's due to Page's/Beck's influences. They could never have touched the Beatles musical competence, especially with that lame singer.

  • @stratfret sorry to hear you think keith is a lame singer . the yardbirds were the most musically talented band of their era. yes the beatles were better song writers but nobody played their instruments better than the yardbirds i am reminded of a quote i once heard ( true genius is seldom recognized) very few people are able to see the genius of keith as a singer. i didn't think i liked him at first, but after listening awhile he is my favorite singer ever....

  • @67yardbird Ask Jeff Beck what he thought Keith Relf's singing & harp playing. (Answer: Not much.) / Yardbirds: 3 Great lead guitarists, fairly anonymous rhythm guitarist (some of my favorite Yardbird records Beck had to play both guitar parts), solid bassist, ok drummer, mediocre singer / harp player. The lead guitar was strong enough to make it all good. If you like Keith Relf's voice more than Howlin' Wolf's you're not a real blues fan.

  • @lazur1 dude, i like howlin wolf ,but i prefer muddy waters. that does not make me any less of a blues fan. i did not like Keith when i first heard him, it took me awhile to acquire a taste for his voice. i like Keith because his voice is unlike anyone else. also Clapton , Beck and page all were made famous by the yardbirds not the other way around.

  • @67: Can't argue taste; you like what you like. / EC Never toured US w/YBirds. Tho he's on the record, Eric quit before 1st US hit "For Your Love" charted, & "FYL" has no lead guitar! Very few had any idea who EC was: NOT famous, until "BluesBreakers" & "FreshCream". By the time YBirds were big, JB was in; HE became famous. JP got a bit of fame, but his HUGE fame w/ LZep DWARFS the YBirds. The YBirds would NEVER have BEEN famous without these great guitarists, they'd be just another band.

  • @lazur1 While EC never toured the US with the Yardbirds his first brush with fame for the rest of the English speaking world was the LP, "Five Live Yardbirds". EC's playing wasn't quite up to Bluesbreakers level, but compared to the Stones, Animals, Spencer Davis and the Pretty Things, Clapton was the best guitarist in the first wave of British blues. Its also true EC, JB, and JP all surpassed the fame of the Yardsbirds, but they did managed to come up with a string of good hit singles.

  • the mirrored telecaster .... that's Syd Barrett!

  • Theres a reason Jimmy Page is considered god...

  • Did he yell "Sock it to me" at the end? lol

  • @TPBXDRicky420 he yelled "Dankeschön!" which is the german word for "thank you!"

  • @hitchinaride94 Cool! Now that I listen to it for a second time I hear it.

  • whut the hell...Page didn't featured this band since he was a band member...

  • I'm crackin' up at the kids standing around dancing! About the third time they pan to the kids, Page is really shredding and the kids really don't have anything to dance to and a couple of them are just looking around.

  • Too cool

  • Juste WOW! WOW! WOW! Super bon !

  • dude , really thanks!

  • This is my favorite Yardbirds video! First off, it's an actual live performance, no lip or instrument syncs. And I love the closeups of Keith Relf and Jimmy Page doing their thing. It's amazing how Keith is able to switch back and forth between singing and playing the harmonica, he makes it look so easy. Tremendous performance and video quality!

  • The start always reminds me of Bowies Gene Genie...

  • What's the exact line-up here?

  • guitar master you are most likely a liberal that thinks obama is great because he is black...telling me my opinion is wrong on Pete is like telling me my favorite wine of all time is incorrect because you are a waiter. And that top ten wine lists don't mean shit because the people who create them have never been a waiter. Pete is/was better than Hendrix, Page, Beck etc. ....what a typical lib statement though....you probably don't get it because ....I also don't get global warming like u gmast

  • @dbohnenkamper how the fuck do you mix fucking stupid redneck American politics with this...what the fuck happen to Americans? How did they get to be so bloody stupid?

  • @gplito Maybe.....Americans didn't get stupid....maybe non Americans get their news from big-brother controlled news sources??? If you get your news from state run propaganda you are a slave! Think for yourself! Is Sarah Palin stupid?

She was a mayor then governor(obama was a run unopposed political machine part from chicago). Boy she must be fucking stupid because American-hating(freedom-hating too) liberal press says so. Get your head out of your ass big=brother is not cool! Group think

  • @dbohnenkamper Is Sarah Palin Stupid???? Mayor of a one gas station town...then governor of a state full of unemployed welfare recipients and crooked politicians? So again...How the fuck do you mix stupid fucking redneck politics with classic rock and roll? And what the fuck do you know about Chicago?

  • @gplito Sarah Palin is Joan of Arc and Ronald Reagan in one hot package... Libs fear her! She was Borked to the power of Thomas and she is still there. No politician in history(ok maybe hitler) has taken more bad press! Libs/dems did everything in their power to destroy her and damnit "doesn't this stupid woman know that she has been destroyed"? She doesn't look destroyed to me! LOFL the reason I brought up politics was because I recognized liberal logic patern in your argument thats all

  • @dbohnenkamper What the fuck drugs do you ingest? Borked to the power of Thomas? What does that even mean? Don't answer that. And what does any of this have to do with The Yardbirds or The Who? Don't answer that either. Sarah doesn't look destroyed because she has no conscience. It's one of the perks that come with her walking the fine line between evil and stupidity. Is she evil or is she stupid only her hair knows for sure.

    Rock Off!

  • @nellgwen48 Judge Bork was so fucked by lib scum like Teddy Kennedy(in hell now) so a new word "borked" was coined....being borked is being lied about in a most mean and hateful way(the modern lib way)....Thomas the same thing at his confirmation because he was a black conservative that did not go through affirmative action. And ..Borked to the power of Thomas means she was treated 50 times worse than Bork Or Thomas. Its a math thing.

Lib scum always tell us who they fear by their hate.

  • @dbohnenkamper idiot fahxkocksukker.. Thomas was a harasser of women. Bork was so far right that he made Attila the Hun look like a lib.

Now what the heck does your rightwing bs have to do with this music?

  • @silat13 Way to think for your self! Thomas is a self made black man who dared to leave the liberal plantation. He received a high-tech lynching by the media, by educators, by the left dems in power(Teddy the swimmer Kennedy)....also known as Big-Brother. Big Brother is not cool! Bork was a great legal mind but he was too stupid to play their game(he had the balls to ask a lib panel of big bigbrotherists where in the constitution is right to privacy).

This whole political slant started with

  • @silat13 this political slant started with argument..whether my opinion that Townsend is as good at guitar as Beck or Clapton.. and that neither of us is right or wrong because it's an opinion and mine is as good as yours! I got insulted by euro asshole insulting my country and Palin....So I insulted his opinions being shaped by Big-brother... And that group think is not cool Big-Brother is not cool! And that Big Brother tried to stop rock etc and that rockers were independent thinkers etc etc

  • @nellgwen48 This dude Kamper whatever is probably a German trolling around on his prison computer....he isn't allowed on News or blog sites so he fucks around over here and bothers people. He got me too....just ignore the idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • @gplito LOL. Clarence Thomas basically raped Anita Hill and the GOP power bloc covered the whole thing up and neutralized her. Dbohn, go back to thinking you know shit about anything, including the fact that Pete Townsend is good guitar player compared to Page, Hendrix, or Beck. You are a fucking joke and I wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. In fact, I'd roast marshmellows.

  • @cgraber You're not referring to me are you cgraber? I was referring to that DbohnKamper idiot...what the hell is he doing over here looking at Jimmy page? And I wouldn't eat those marshmallows if I was you, mate...

  • @gplito NO, I was refering to Reich's Fuhrer Dbohn as well.

  • @cgraber That's pretty funny....Reich Fuhrer....

  • @cgraber CLARENCE THOMAS???? ANITA HILL????? THE GOP???? THIS IS ROCK N ROLL, FUCK THOSE MORONS!!!!!

  • @dbohnenkamper still a moron..

We dems begged you braindead cons to make Palin your candidate. But noooo. You didnt do it. So the High Priestess of the American Taliban is relegated to coaching her daughters on DWTS's.

  • @dbohnenkamper if there was a liberal media then Palin would have never come out of the closet. It is a right controlled media you tool.

  • @gplito Fox News, that's how...Dumbing down America for 15 years now.

  • @gplito its obama's fault.

  • @gplito Don't be daft! We've always been this way... Cheers!

  • @gplito they have always been so bloody stupid. so arrogant, argumentative, so flat - no culture!

    that is why i left : )

  • @caterinadundie If you die tomorrow no one will care. Don't waste your time with posts

  • @gplito I'm an American and I can't even explain it. It is getting farking ridiculous to the point that I'm embarrassed of my country numerous times on a daily basis and I'm a veteran.

  • @valsoldier03 you must be michelle obama dressed as a hog...embarrassed by your country..then leave and go to europe

  • @chaos22349 I'm good for now thanks. I literally shed blood for this country and for my right to say things like that so I think I'll stay here for now. Thanks for your concern though.

  • @dbohnenkamper You couldn't have been further from the truth. I don't now how politics came into play, but I am stongly conservative.

  • Pete Townsen is on most top ten lists! He is better than page beck hendrix etc!

  • @dbohnenkamper You probably dont get it because your probably not a musician, but townsend Is nowhere near as good as Page. Even Beck is better. He's definently not bad, but not near as good. Also, top ten lists dont mean shit in terms of skill; most of the people who create them have no musical talent themselves; that includes the R&R hall of fame.

  • @G "EVEN Beck"? Beck's the best living rock lead guitarist! Page's a better writer, arranger, producer, leader, & acoustic guitarist, but Jimmy will tell you that Jeff kills him on lead. / The Who were the first Power Trio. Pete played all chords to fill the sound, a style that became the foundation for how rock music's been played ever since, even influencing the Stones to crank up a little more. The Led Zeppelin sound would've been very different without the Who preceding them.

  • Pete Townsen is on record saying that the first time he say Hendrix in London he thought about quitting the guitar all together because he knew he could never be that good. LOL. You Who fans are funny guys,.

  • @cgraber They are funny guys? Why are they funny? They make you laugh, ha ha. They are here to amuse you? What the fuck is so funny about them? What is so funny is while people almost come to blows about who is better they people in question are all friends. There isn't a war going on. It would be real boring if everyone was like Jimmy or Jimmy. Some people just can't enjoy the differences. It's sad.

  • @nellgwen48 The problem with idiots like dbohnkamper is that they think their uninformed (i.e. non-musician) opinion is equal to those of us who know the difference between banging out an A chord like Pete Townsend for an entire song, and playing Pages Rain Song, or Hendrix's Castles Made of Sand, or even Mick Taylor's solo in Sway from Sticky Fingers. They aren't even in the same league, yet this asshole thinks that his opinion holds as much "sway" (sorry) as those who know the difference.

  • @cgraber Ok. Yes The Who for me are the first Punk band. Which puts them in a special category all their own.

The Who isn't in the same league as Led Zeppelin but I'm glad they're not. When I'm super pissed off nothing Satisfies like Who Are You, or We don't Get Fooled Again. or Eminence Front. Someone said on here that John Entwistle was a better bass player than John Paul Jones. Are you fucking kidding me?

  • @nellgwen48 and that of course, is awesome. Sometimes you need that, and I get that. But to hold them up as far as writers/musicians as Page, Beck, Hendrix, etc. is just silly. Not saying you did that, i'm mostly responding to Dbohn the Palin/Bachman shill...which given his thoughts on politics I shouldn't be surprised that he thinks Townsend is better than the aforementioned. lol.

  • @cgraber I guess we're both on the same Page. Ha Ha. Although I have to give The Who their due for Quadrophenia.

  • @cgraber Rock and Roll is not about being the better guitarist. My opinion. Also, I think pete uses the most chord changes of any guitarist, though you might think otherwise if you listen to My Generation.

  • @brandonlace thers no such thing as a bad guitar player, its all about levels of skill, the fact that someone can have enough genuine desire and staying power to pick one up and play automatically earns that person some respect. Usually the criticisms come from dreamers, non players and plastic console fiddlers who fool themselves into thinking they are an authority on the guitar. Any guitarist who stoops to condemn a lesser skilled player is not a true guitarist, they're just a lame douche.

  • @gordongate I agree. Guitar is about expressing your emotions through your instrument, not necessarily about moving your fingers faster than the other guy.

  • @gordongate

    Well said mate.................

  • The Yardbirds were great but Who had the greatest bass player! And Who had the best drummer ever. And Who had the best song writer ever! And Who had the best front man ever! And Who had the best guitar player ever!

  • @dbohnenkamper You honestly can say with a straight face that Pete Townsend is a better guitar player than Hendrix, Page, Clapton, Beck, Mick Taylor, Robert Fripp, even Keith Richards? You have to be kidding right?

  • 1:51 nice mosh :C

  • the begginning of Led Zeppelin

  • what happened to jimmy's "A" string?

  • The Beatles were definately a better band, better songwriters/composers,but the Yardbirds were so much better live! any arguements there?

  • @choadman1 They both weren't great live.

Tbh In the later shows jimmy was the only decent one in fact he played really great

  • jimmy page featuring the yardbirds

  • @klawson211 Fuckin loled

  • 3:18 that guy's like "wtf is this music" lol

  • I've got 5 live Yardbirds with Clapton doing this...

  • its not featuring him, he formed the band hes PART of it

  • watching those kids trying to dance to the guitar solo reminds of Back to the Future they just dont know what to do - way ahead of its time

  • This is some of the coolest stuff I've seen in a while!! Love jimmy page!! Hes my all time fav!! I think im going to have to learn this lead!

  • best version YB peformed of this song , 68 anderson theter too!

  • This was the period when men dress like men and women dressed like women.

  • that was nice and the part w the bow kind of gave me chills I haven't seen this version before thanks, of I'm A Man. Keith Relf was Electrocuted later like years after this by a guitar an mike at his home something like that.

  • Lovely Jimmy.....

  • Oh, and for ME Keith Relf, WAS the Yardbirds!

    Gone but not forgotten

  • My word, this seems like yesterday!

Richmond, Hounslow and all points west!

I saw them from their start and have seen them recently, this year

  • Jimmy page is the Maestro , he is a god guitar,

  • Jimmy page is the Maestro , he is a god guitar,

  • i love Clapton's playing and I love Beck's even more but Page is just so damned twisted and original . I ahve never heard a Tele sound that way . The main man Jimmy

  • lol. This is an epic song. The Blue Version sung By Bo Diddley The Blue Version Sung By The Yardbirds. The Schaffel Beat Version BY Black Strobe * Royal Guardsmen * Doug Sahm * More American Graffiti * The Who * Dr. Feelgood * Stupidity *Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers And Black strobe is best.
  • @Mahendran4007 Somebody went to Wikipedia....

  • @jariso I knew this and Black strobe, The rest are from Wiki

    You are awesome ok.

  • @Mahendran4007 Inspiration for "Jean Genie"....

  • @PAULLONDEN ?????

  • Comment removed

  • @PAULLONDEN Just shut up and pull intersesting comments unlike you dizzing Justin beiber or saying "Please thumps up" ANd bowie? Whose that? your mom?

  • Any Yardbirds Live is a thrill ride! Relf plays right into the eye of the camera and Page's innovation w/the bow on the guitar is shockingly refreshing. The most ground breaking group of the mid 60's. We haven't been the same since.

  • who disliked this? why? i'm flummoxed.

  • @pizzaface212 Might be a couple chicks.

  • For those who are comparing The Beatles and The Yardbirds, that's stupid. They are both completely different bands and both are great. They should not be compared because they are from the same era. Both bands are awesome, end of story.
